Tara lays out a stark, no-nonsense reality: America is standing at a fork in the road, and the next five years will decide not just the future of this country — but the future of freedom worldwide. From census manipulation and stolen congressional seats, to mass illegal immigration as a political weapon, to global speech-control regimes spreading from Europe to the U.S., Tara explains why the fight unfolding right now feels existential — because it is. This episode connects the dots between fraud, power, censorship, and violence, and why the ruling class is willing to risk everything to hold onto control. The stakes couldn't be higher — but neither has the opportunity. This isn't fear-mongering. This is math, law, history — and time running out. ⏳

Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that fully supports you U-Hauling with your girlfriend of two weeks.  This week, co-hosts Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out and talk about the lesbian divorce rate discourse. If you spend any time on Reneé Rapp's internet you likely have seen some variation of this so-called “fact” going around about married lesbian couples having a 70% divorce rate. You may even have taken this fact at face-value. We're not statisticians and we won't say we did all that much deep research for this episode, but the claim is absolutely a myth. And it very much misrepresents the findings of that study. The world of statistics is a mess and it's challenging to get a clear analysis of lesbian divorce rates when women have only been legally allowed to marry each other in this country for like a decade. It's only natural that it will take time for marriage and divorce rates to stabilize, especially with LGBTQ+ rights in constant flux. With all this confusing back-and-forth, we wanted to take some time to look into some of these studies and give our two cents on what the reasons may be for lesbian couples having a higher divorce rate (if true).  Through our super professional research we discovered a few factors that might be at play. First off, lesbian couples get married at higher rates than gay male couples and tend to be more monogamous. That coupled with the fact that women of all sexualities are more likely to initiate divorce than men leads us to believe this statistic is likely true. Next, time moves differently for queer couples. We have to consider things that straight couples simply never have to worry about, like whether we'll legally be allowed to get married if we choose to wait. This can lead to lesbians jumping into marriages faster and discovering incompatibility afterward. We also are shown to be less likely to “stay for the kids”, probably because queer women are more inclined to co-parent equally after a divorce. However, we can't completely ignore the flaws in the existing studies. Many include queer women who have divorced men in the past or include such a disproportionate sample size of queer couples to straight couples that it invalidates the results. While there are obvious issues with the way the research has largely been approached (mainly because the straights do not understand how we operate), we will concede that everything seems to be pointing to it being true that lesbians divorce at a higher rate than both heterosexual and gay male couples. However, we also choose to believe the studies that show that lesbian couples have higher rates of satisfaction in our marriages and lower rates of cheating than other couples. Plus, lesbians who do U-Haul prior to getting married have lower rates of divorce. So really, we're still the best and the straights can just keep crying about it.  Don't forget to show your support for our tiny independent team by shopping small at bit.ly/lezmerch & picking up Lez-ssentials songs on Bandcamp. What's it like to be the caregiver for your parents while raising a young family of your own, and your wife is pregnant? Not easy!  Healthcare journalist Paul Wynn writes about caregiving issues for more than 70 national publications. He also knows what it's like to be a caregiver, sandwiched between two generations.  That personal story is the subject of "Surviving the Sandwich Generation Years: How to Balance Caring for Parents While Raising Kids", one of twenty-two stories in the award-winning anthology, The Caregiver's Advocate: A Complete Guide to Support and Resources, Vol 2, edited by Debbie DeMoss Compton.   In the story, Paul describes life as a boy, watching his mother take care of his grandmother. He noticed his mother's patience and tenderness and how much his grandmother seemed to appreciate his mother's company. Those simple observations would serve him well as an adult.  Here's an excerpt from Paul Wynn's story. It takes place over a ten-day period. At the time, Paul is married, the father of two young children. He and his wife live in New York. His father has died. His mother lives in Pennsylvania. She has dementia. So does his uncle. "...I rented a U-Haul truck and moved my uncle's personal belongings from his home to a Catholic-run assisted living facility where he moved into a studio apartment. The next weekend, Julia and I welcomed our third child."  Every story in the anthology offers a helpful resource or caregiving tip. You can find the book on amazon.  You can reach Paul Wynn at his website.

A Brutally Honest Take on Work and WealthWe spend an enormous amount of our lives thinking about work and worrying about money. How much should we save? How hard should we hustle? Will we ever have enough? The book of Ecclesiastes meets those questions head-on—with refreshing honesty.Written by “the Teacher” (Qoheleth), Ecclesiastes doesn't offer clichés or easy answers. Instead, it introduces us to a key idea that shapes everything else: hevel—a Hebrew word meaning vapor, smoke, or breath. Something real, but fleeting. Visible, but impossible to grasp.Think of smoke. You can see it. It looks solid. But the moment you try to grab it, it slips right through your fingers. That, the Teacher says, is what money is like. It's real and useful—but if you try to build your life on it, you'll eventually discover you're standing on nothing. The Big Idea: Money is a helpful tool, but a horrible god.Below are five timeless insights from Ecclesiastes that help us hold work and wealth with wisdom and humility.1. Work and Wealth Are Good Gifts from GodEcclesiastes is clear: work itself is not the problem. In fact, the Teacher calls it a gift.Ecclesiastes 5:19 (NLT)“And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it… this is indeed a gift from God.”Notice where wealth comes from—from God. That means we are not the source of our wealth; we are stewards of it. The Bible never commands us to be poor, unemployed, or lazy. Instead, it consistently warns against idleness.Work is good. Earning is good. Enjoying the fruit of your labor is good—when it's received as a gift, not treated as a god.2. Don't Sacrifice Your Peace for a PaycheckWhile work is good, toil is not.Ecclesiastes 4:6 (NLT)“Better to have one handful with quietness than two handfuls with hard work and chasing the wind.”There's hevel again. Hustle culture promises fulfillment but often delivers exhaustion. When success steals your sleep, your joy, and your sanity, something is off.The Teacher observes that those who work hard tend to sleep well—but the wealthy often lie awake at night, anxious and restless. More money doesn't always mean more peace.3. Money Can't Buy True HappinessIf money could satisfy the human heart, then having more would finally be enough. But Ecclesiastes says otherwise.Ecclesiastes 5:10 (NLT)“Those who love money will never have enough.”The problem isn't having money—it's loving it. Wealth constantly promises happiness just one step ahead: a little more, a little better, a little bigger. But that finish line never arrives. The New Testament echoes this wisdom, warning that the love of money leads to sorrow, spiritual drift, and deep regret. Money makes a terrible savior.4. Enjoy What You Have Right NowHere's one of the most practical lessons in Ecclesiastes:Ecclesiastes 6:9 (NLT)“Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don't have.”Wealth can't buy happiness—but what you already have can be enjoyed. Contentment isn't getting everything you want; it's learning to appreciate what God has already given.Gratitude replaces coveting. Presence replaces comparison. Jesus reinforced this truth when he warned that life is not measured by how much we own.5. You Can't Take Any of It With YouEcclesiastes repeatedly reminds us of a simple reality: we arrive with nothing, and we leave with nothing.Ecclesiastes 5:15 (NLT)“We can't take our riches with us.”This truth isn't meant to depress us—it's meant to free us. There are no hearses pulling U-Hauls. One second after you die, your net worth is...

Don Dupuis, Founder of Acadiana Computer Systems, Discusses Business Success and the Early Days of Business Computing in Acadiana

Discover Lafayette

Don Dupuis is a Louisiana technology pioneer whose work quietly shaped how businesses across Acadiana and far beyond learned to operate in the early days of the digital age. Don founded Acadiana Computer Systems in 1969, at a time when most offices still relied on adding machines, paper ledgers, and manual calculations. Long before “IT services” was a common phrase, Don saw that businesses, especially medical practices, needed help navigating billing, coding, payroll, and data management. What began as a small, homegrown operation became a regional force, supporting doctors, lawyers, oilfield companies, universities, public offices, and even the horse racing industry. In this conversation, Don walks us through a remarkable journey that begins in Carencro, where he grew up and still lives on the very property where he was born. He shares stories from his early career in banking, including helping launch the credit card business in central Louisiana, complete with a secret U-Haul trip to Baton Rouge to retrieve credit cards during a rainstorm, and how that experience opened his eyes to the power of automation. Without a formal computer science degree, Don built his company by pairing business insight with technical brilliance. He credits early partner Roy Arwood, a mathematician and programmer, as “a genius” who wrote the software while Don sold, ran, and personally operated the systems. Together, they computerized payrolls with hundreds, sometimes thousands, of employees, ultimately processing more than one million W-2s in a single year. Don explains how Acadiana Computer Systems served a wide range of clients: Oilfield companies with massive payrolls Medical practices struggling with complex coding and insurance reimbursement Universities and medical schools, including LSU systems Registrars of voters and tax assessors The horse racing industry, where his team produced race programs before tote boards existed In medical billing, Don describes uncovering widespread inefficiencies, and sometimes outright fraud, costing physician practices tens of thousands of dollars each month. His company didn't just process claims; it helped doctors understand diagnosis codes, CPT procedures, and compliance, often recovering revenue that would otherwise be lost. “A doctor's bill is one of the most complicated things to produce,” he explains, emphasizing how critical accuracy became once Medicare and government oversight entered the picture. The episode also captures the culture of Lafayette's boom years. Don recalls a time when oil money flooded the region, businesses were expanding rapidly, and opportunity felt “wide open.” He also speaks candidly about downturns, particularly the late-1970s and early-1980s oil collapse, when many left Lafayette in search of work elsewhere. After decades of growth, Don sold Acadiana Computer Systems in 2021, staying on briefly before stepping away for good. He reflects on the realities of modern consolidation, offshore labor, and automation, noting that while technology keeps advancing, it often comes at the expense of long-term employees. In late 2025, Don made local news again when he sold the former ACS’ headquarters (nearly 30,000-square-foot building on Dulles Drive) for $3.6-million deal to South Louisiana Community College, allowing the campus to expand classrooms, offices, and student services. Beyond business, Don shares stories of generosity and community, from housing Lafayette's mounted police horses on his rural property to building lifelong relationships based on handshakes rather than contracts. “If you're nice to somebody, it comes back,” he says, reflecting on clients who became partners simply because he helped when they needed it most. The conversation closes with Don's thoughts on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the future of work. Having witnessed the evolution from mainframes to personal computers to AI, he sees enormous potential, particularly in medicine, alongside serious risks if technology is used carelessly. He also laments the massive shift of jobs to foreign countries where people making $2.50 per hour are gladly taking jobs once held by America's talented workforce. This episode is a rare oral history of Acadiana's early technology era, told by someone who helped build it: one payroll run, one program, and one handshake at a time. We thank our dear friend, Don Dupuis, for his generous spirit and the contributions he has made to our business climate in Acadiana. Avec beaucoup d’amour!

Send us a textWhat if boredom in your faith is a symptom of quiet disobedience? We dig into Jonah's flight from Nineveh to expose how comfort, brand safety, and clean optics can sabotage real ministry to the poor, the broken, and the hostile. From moving a struggling family and sharing the gospel mid U-Haul to confronting cultural pressure to appease, we wrestle with why obedience always demands courage—and why light must advance if darkness is ever going to retreat.Jonah's narrative becomes our mirror: a prophet reroutes, a storm exposes, and pagans encounter Yahweh while God chases His reluctant messenger. We talk about sitting at tables with sinners without caving, refusing hazmat Christianity on one side and hollow “relevance” on the other. The challenge is to confront sin with compassion and then stay to disciple when repentance breaks out. If you've ever preferred the mic drop to the long walk, this is your wake-up call to shepherd, not just shout. We also unpack divine interruptions, the gap between our preferred outcomes and God's purposes, and why returning to the last clear command can reignite a stagnant soul. Expect practical takeaways anchored in Scripture: live awake, redeem the time, be in the world but not of it, and embrace the peace Christ provides for hard places. If you've been avoiding your Nineveh—whether that's a neighborhood, a movement, or a messy relationship—consider this your invitation to go, confront, and commit to the slow work of discipleship. If this conversation pushed you toward courageous obedience, share it with a friend, leave a review, and subscribe so you don't miss what's next. //The Wire//2300Z January 12, 2026////ROUTINE////BLUF: IRANIAN PROTESTS CONTINUE AS PRESIDENT TRUMP REAFFIRMS AMERICAN INVOLVEMENT. VEHICLE RAMMING ATTACK REPORTED AT PROTEST IN LOS ANGELES. PROTESTS CONTINUE IN MINNEAPOLIS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-Middle East: The situation in Tehran remains tense as demonstrations continue. Over the weekend, pro-regime, pro-Ayatollah demonstrations were carried out, in opposition to the anti-regime protests which have been regular over the past two weeks.Analyst Comment: As one might expect, the pro-regime demonstrations have been covered extensively by Iranian state TV, so the true scale of these demonstrations is not known. The internet outage continues nationwide, so the wider context of how serious the overall situation is developing is hard to discern. In Washington, President Trump has made increasingly more substantial statements regarding American involvement, indicating that the United States may become more actively involved in overthrowing the government of Iran in the very near future. These statements have been understandably vague, however in the context of the current demonstrations this is probably the early indication and warning of another round of American strikes (or more direct involvement) at some point.-HomeFront-USA: Around the nation, various protests and states of civil unrest continued over the weekend, with some being more kinetic than others. Protests remained constant in the usual cities; Portland, Minneapolis, Manhattan, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington D.C. all were host to anti-ICE demonstrations.California: Anti-ICE protests continue state-wide, however other types of protests and demonstrations are underway, which have increased in severity over the past few days. In Los Angeles, a vehicle ramming attack was reported at an Iranian protest Sunday afternoon, which resulted in the wounding of several demonstrators. The demonstration itself was an anti-regime/pro-Shah protest, in support of overthrowing the Ayatollah. As demonstrators were marching up Veteran Avenue to the east of the Federal Building, one assailant drove a Uhaul truck north up Veteran Avenue, conducting a slow-speed ramming into the crowd, before coming to a halt at the corner of Rochester and Veteran Ave. After the vehicle came to a halt, the driver was detained by police, and has not yet been identified.Analyst Comment: This incident was a deliberate attack, as evidenced by the signage that had been affixed to the Uhaul truck by the attacker. Despite these signs, however, the motive remains unclear as the messages are contradictory. The attacker's signs referenced, anti-Shah, anti-regime, and anti-Ayatollah sentiments, so it's not really clear what ideology the attacker was trying to support. Nevertheless, the attack was conducted for ideological reasons, even if they aren't immediately clear at the moment.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In Minneapolis, a general state of unrest continued over the weekend, with various insurgent groups increasing the intensity of their efforts. Several independent journalists have been assaulted by the mobs at varying locations, as parts of the city descend into a state of lawlessness. Most of the violence has been contained to a few hotspots around the city. In the downtown area, the Renaissance and Hilton Hotels have remained under a state of unrest following the destruction caused by rioters over the weekend. Smaller, but more long-term protest sites have been established at these locations, in addition to the persistent protest that is ongoing at the Whipple Federal Building to the south of the city. This afternoon a riot broke out to the east of the Renee Good shooting site, at the corner of E 34th Street and Park Avenue. Rioters attacked ICE agents, which resulted in the deployment of te

We're eleven days into 2026, and America is speedrunning authoritarianism. On January 8th, ICE agent Jonathan Ross executed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. She was unarmed and trying to drive away when he shot her three times at point blank range, called her a "fucking bitch" as she died, then walked away while his colleagues prevented a doctor from rendering aid. Within minutes, before anyone knew her name, the President and DHS Secretary labeled her a "domestic terrorist" and declared the shooting justified. No investigation. No accountability. Just character assassination and claims of "absolute immunity."This isn't isolated. Over 2,000 masked federal agents with no badges or identification have descended on Minneapolis, racially profiling and detaining U.S. citizens. The same day Renee was killed, ICE arrested two teenage American citizens for working at Target while Latino. This is fascism in practice. But the chaos doesn't stop at our borders. Trump is threatening to annex Greenland by force, potentially ending the NATO alliance. The administration is simultaneously threatening Venezuela, cutting deals with Cuba, and rattling sabers at Iran as nationwide protests threaten the regime. Are we heading into World War III? Maybe. The tinderbox is built. In this episode, we break down the execution of Renee Nicole Good, expert analysis from a veteran defense attorney who says this shooting was unjustified, Trump's imperial ambitions in Greenland, Iran's revolution, Cuba's crisis, Venezuela's chaos, the criminal investigation into Jerome Powell, and the U Haul attack on Iranian protesters in Los Angeles. This isn't hyperbole. It's Wednesday, January 7th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Sudanese military killed 11 Christians Tragically, the military of Sudan killed a group of Christians on their way to church on Christmas morning last month. The Sudanese Armed Forces targeted the group with a drone strike, killing at least 11 Christians and injuring 18 more.  A Christian attorney in the area told Morning Star News, “The church [building] was not hit, but a congregation who were marching in procession towards the church were targeted.” Sudan's military is in conflict with various rival forces in the country's ongoing civil war. Sadly, Christians are caught in the crossfire, facing increased attacks and violence in the Muslim-majority country.  According to Open Doors, Sudan is the fifth most dangerous country worldwide for Christians. Canadian Christians upset: Quoting Bible can be “hate speech” Liberal lawmakers in Canada are trying to remove a religious exemption from the country's hate speech laws. Currently, people cannot be convicted of hate speech if they make a statement in “good faith” based “on belief in a religious text.” The Christian Institute warns that quoting the Bible could be criminalized as hate speech under the new proposal. Andrew Lawton, a conservative Member of Parliament from Ontario, commented, “[The Liberals] are prepared to mount … a full-scale assault on religious freedom.” Psalm 94:20-21 asks, “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with [the Lord]? They gather together against the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.” Hegseth tours America's hypersonic weapons On Tuesday's Worldview newscast, we said, “The United States has yet to deploy its hypersonic technology -- it is still in the testing phase.” Upon closer examination, according to The War Zone, we can report that War Secretary Pete Hegseth recently toured the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama to examine America's long-range Dark Eagle hypersonic boost-glide vehicle weapon system. During his visit, Hegseth designated the installation as U.S. Space Command's new headquarters. The Army's Dark Eagle, also known as the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon, is a trailer-launched hypersonic boost-glide vehicle system that can travel long distances at hypersonic speeds, with velocities in excess of 3,800 miles per hour, while maneuvering erratically through Earth's atmosphere. This makes it an ideal weapon for striking high-priority and time-sensitive targets that are extremely well defended. It's the first true hypersonic weapon slated for frontline U.S. service. The same missile architecture is being adopted by the Navy for sea-launch under the Intermediate Range Conventional Prompt Strike weapon system. During a show-and-tell of Army missile systems, Lieutenant General Francisco Lozano, Director of Hypersonic, Directed Energy, Space and Rapid Acquisition, told Hegseth that Dark Eagle has a 2,100-mile range. Members of the media were also present at the event, which was captured on video by C-SPAN. Colorado must pay $5 million over trying to shut down pro-life clinic In the United States, Colorado must pay $5.4 million in a lawsuit involving a pro-life healthcare clinic.  The state tried to ban abortion pill reversal and shut down a Denver-area pro-life clinic. Bella Health and Wellness fought back and won their case with the help of The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.  Rebekah Ricketts, senior counsel at Becket, said, “At least 18 moms who received abortion pill reversal care at Bella just celebrated Christmas with babies born during this case. All Coloradans should celebrate those little miracles and the brave medical team at Bella that helped their moms when no one else would.” Vandal of J.D. Vance's home is trans Democrat The U.S. Secret Service arrested a man on Monday who caused property damages at the Ohio home of Vice President J.D. Vance. The man used a hammer to break four windows on the front of the home. He also vandalized an unmarked Secret Service vehicle. The man has been identified as 26-year-old William DeFoor. He pretends to be a woman and goes by the name “Julia.” His father. Dr. Bob DeFoor, is a prominent urology surgeon and a mega Democrat donor. Vice President Vance responded on X. He wrote, “I appreciate everyone's well wishes about the attack at our home. ... I'm grateful to the Secret Service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly. We weren't even home as we had returned already to D.C.” Corporation for Public Broadcasting dissolves over Trump defunding The board of directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting voted Monday to dissolve the organization after losing federal funding.  Congress created the nonprofit in 1967 to support public broadcasting in America. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has distributed hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars each year to public stations through National Public Radio and the Public Broadcasting System.  However, President Donald Trump has accused such outlets of spreading misinformation. In line with this, Congress defunded the Corporation for Public Broadcasting last summer.  Republican Congressman of California died Tuesday House Republicans announced Tuesday that Rep. Doug LaMalfa of California died at the age of 65, reports the Western Journal. The announcement was shared in a statement posted by the official House Republicans X account. On January 5th, LaMalfa experienced a medical emergency at his home and was transported to a Chico, California hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. During the procedure, he experienced both a heart attack and an aneurysm, according to the Sacramento Bee. He died the following day at 3:20 a.m while still in surgery. LaMalfa was a fourth-generation rice farmer. U-Haul does well in red states, poorly in blue states U-Haul released its annual Growth Index for last year. Only an estimated 13-20% of Americans have completed the feat in the past. But that number is rising as Bible sales surged over the last year. Dr. Corné Bekker, Dean of Divinity at Regent University, has read the Bible several hundred times. Listen to his comments. BEKKER: “I do think increasingly our world is falling apart. People are longing for that which is eternally true, that which is ancient, that which is unchanging.” In Isaiah 66:2, the Lord says, “But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My Word.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, January 7th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com). The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: There is plenty of irony in the U.S. action in Venezuela to go around. But, the biggest thing I've noticed is the utter nonsense being spewed by Democrats about the action being illegal. Jonathan Turley well covers that fact that this exact issue has already been litigated to the Supreme Court (a court Dems liked at the time.)Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.AT&T contributing to the hollowing out of our great cities. Here's an SEO-optimized episode description for The Shallow End, written to perform well on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts while matching the tone of the episode and the show's brand: As 2025 limps toward the finish line, The Shallow End with Schnebly and Toth dives headfirst into a fresh batch of gloriously bad decisions, near-miss disasters, and criminal incompetence you truly have to hear to believe. The episode opens with a painfully relatable moment of modern panic: losing your phone… while actively talking on it. From there, things escalate quickly with a near-catastrophic kitchen mistake involving a laptop and a microwave (spoiler: MacBooks are not microwave-safe). But the real headline story comes out of small-town Ohio, where an ordinary bank drive-through transaction turns into one of the dumbest criminal stories of the year. A man accidentally sends methamphetamine through a pneumatic bank tube, triggering a sheriff's department response, a canine alert, and instant internet infamy. No getaway plan. No criminal mastermind. Just a jaw-dropping lapse in attention that lands him squarely in Shallow End legend. The episode also features listener-submitted stories, including a Florida man who attempts yard work with a sword and accidentally enters a real-life medieval snake encounter, plus a stunning double-whammy crime story involving COVID relief fraud, a stolen U-Haul van, and a defendant who shows up for federal court already in handcuffs. If you enjoy true dumb criminal stories, real news absurdity, and laugh-out-loud moments fueled by human error, this episode delivers. It's a reminder to double-check what's in your pockets, return your rental vehicles on time, and for the love of all that's holy—don't mail illegal drugs to a bank. The Shallow End is where bad ideas float, good judgment sinks, and the stories are always true. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
