This week Aaron of Hero Topics and I dig into the new Netflix Show Jupiter's Legacy. This one wasn't the most impressive but it does ask the most interesting question if superheroes should kill villains or intervene in politics. We also do a character dive and give spoilers to what will probably happen in season 2, based on the comics.
This week Aaron @herotopics_ and I discuss season 1 of the hit Amazon Prime Video show Invincible by Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman. Along with a discussion of behind the scenes and how COVID forced them to get rid of the Flagsmashers plot, and created a bit of confusion.
Please keep trauma in my horror and lose the racism. I do not want my villain or hero to be anywhere near that therapist chair. How else are they going to go on that killing rampage, sacrifice that ex-boyfriend who did them wrong or kill their way out of that racist dinner party. The horror genre is built around trauma and that doesn't need to change in black horror because then it's a drama, not a horror. This week we discuss white horror movies, black horror movies, social commentary horror, and much more. Hopefully one day we get the black final girl who wins against the slasher until the sequel or the black slasher angry at her neighbors for no obvious reason, until then happy listening!
So it's clear no one paid attention in English class, never watched a movie or read a poem. But Lil Nas X woke up the Christians huh? I dig into the reaction of Lil Nas X hit "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" and the hypocrisy of the Christian Church. And the passiveness of a lot of Christians in current events and the aggression of other events and how Patriarchy is another part of the problem. This episode is a straight-up critique of the Church so just deal. Also a good amount of history lessons.
This week we cover Zac Snyder's Justice League. A 4 hour movie experience, that is truly for the comic book nerds out there. We give our thoughts on the good, the bad, and the slow- mo's. We also explain that nightmare sequence at the end. that goes into JL 2 and JL 3. We also get into the Falcon and the Winter Solider. Hope you enjoy!
This season was a mess. Matt was a mess. The Producers were a mess. The TikToks a mess. The interviews a mess. The choices a mess. The ending a mess. Honestly I get into everything, I do start with Slavery and get into the Bachelor trust me it connects. I talk about my own dating history and black woman's dating trauma. This episode is real political so buckle in.
