Heaven's Gate was founded in 1974 by 2 leaders, commonly known as Ti and Do. The group spanned 24 years, and had over 200 people pass through as members. In 2010, 24 year old Phoebe Handsjuk 24 year old Phoebe Handsjuk was known as a cheeky, creative, and vibrant woman, but in 2010, her life was tragically cut short. On December 2, she was found in the garbage room of her luxury apartment complex - seemingly having fallen down the garbage chute. On the night of June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were found dead outside of Nicole's condo. In 1998, 23 year old Amy Lynn Bradley boarded a cruise to Curacao with her family. After a night full of dancing with her brother and a few interesting interactions with members of the ship's crew, Amy seemingly disappeared from the ship. The crew refused to make an announcement of her disappearance, and failed to search private rooms. In 2004, 17 year old Brianna Maitland left her job was never seen again. On Christmas Eve, 2002, pregnant Laci Peterson went missing while her husband Scott went fishing. In the late 1960s, a Glasgow Ballroom became the hunting ground for a suspected serial killer. Three women were killed within less than two years. All had been at the Barrowland Ballroom the night before their murders, all were killed in the same manner, and strangely, all three women were on their periods when they were murdered. On August 1st, 1966, Charles Whitman killed his wife and mother in the middle of the night. Later that day, he targeted people on the University of Texas at Austin's campus indiscriminately. He terrorized the campus for 96 minutes, injuring 31 people and killing 15. Later it was discovered that Whitman had a tumor in his brain, and his case has been the subject of discussion for decades as scientists and investigators question whether the tumor was the cause of his actions. In November of 2018, Tamla Horsford went to an adult sleepover in Forsyth County, Georgia. The next morning, she was found dead facedown in the yard. Starting in the 1950s, a man named Jim Jones founded the People's Temple. While the people who joined this church often had good intentions, Jim Jones did not - and he was creating what would later be recognized as a cult. He moved the People's Temple from Indiana to California, and then he fled with his church to South America.
