Edgar Allen Poe's life was filled with trauma, tragedy, and heartache. His hardships influenced his writings greatly, making Poe a literary genius. While we may picture his life being spent writing horror stories, Poe found himself quite busy with a variety of other activities, such as attempting to solve real life murders, creating ciphers a-la the Zodiac, and making plenty of enemies along the way. This is Part 1 of Edgar Allen Poe. Then we wade in to David Fincher's latest film for Netflix, 'The Killer'. It's a sharp, potent thriller hybrid that spits copious venom at our hyperconnected modern existence, hustle culture, and the gig economy while also functioning as a kaleidoscopic reflection on Fincher's entire career and ethos as a filmmaker. Kelsi and Trey discuss David Fincher's masterpiece Zodiac and explore the multi-genre epic starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr., and Mark Ruffalo. This is a commentary and deep dive of the perfect political thriller, it captures the obsessive, paranoid American conscience attempting to make sense out of a country so broken that its own people are too rattled to check their mail. In this somewhat unplanned continuation of our David Fincher "The Killer" obsession, Amartya, Dhruv, and Srilekha discuss two of the director's widely acclaimed serial killer films -- "Se7en" (1995) and "Zodiac" (2007) -- that shine more light on the psyche of those pursuing the killer than the killer himself. Thanks to another podcast regular -- Simon Ezra (@thebongcinephile) -- our Fincher trail also extends to Quebec, Canada. The final film discussed in this episode is Pascal Plante's "Red Rooms" (2023) -- a technologically updated version of the Serial Killer obsession told from the point-of-view of a devout admirer ("groupie") of the serial killer. Listen to the full episode to hear what draws us to such films, why David Fincher's films are such a major influence on this sub-genre, and why it is so tricky to emulate his style. Discussion for all three films includes spoilers. “SACRED HOOP of Fixed Stars”. Featuring Special Guest Shannon Hayes, past Talk Cosmos member of the first panel, Cosmic Collaboration. Shannon long interest studying Sky Watching, and the Fixed Stars relates to the Native American Sacred Hoop involving a set of fixed stars. “The Ecliptic of the planet of the solar system of the sun's path intersect with the Milky Way, the plane of the galaxy of which our solar system is part. Most intriguingly, this intersection forms a “cross”, formed within the circle. It is an area of the sky associated with originating points or new beginnings over time in multitudes of cultures. Shannon's studied with Cayelin Castell who states 6500 years (ago) the equinox-based calendars emerged when the Spring Equinox was on the Galactic Cross at the Galactic edge inside the Sacred Hoop.” said Sue Minahan, founder, and host of the weekly show. “Star's seemingly fixed position provided a steady placement in the night sky. Served to guide the directions for early peoples to modern times. The fixed stars slow movement transits one degree every 72 years. Currently the Sacred Hoop Stars are in the astrological signs of Gemini and Cancer.” Join Sue Rose Minahan of Kailua-Kona, Big Island of Hawaii with November's Special Guest panel featuring SHANNON HAYES of Sedna, Arizona where the night sky is clear. How employers can assist employees with sight or hearing loss to succeed In this episode 217 of the podcast I bring you an interview with Dan Williams who is the founder of Visualise Training and Consultancy an organisation which promotes and enables inclusion, accessibility and equality for people living with visual impairment, hearing loss and other forms of disability. Dan is an expert in assisting businesses and organisations to be more accessible. In this episode of the podcast we cover: How to encourage employees to be open about their condition or disability. Creating an inclusive culture at work. Ways in which employers can make reasonable adjustments for those with sight and hearing loss. Why it is important to give meaningful consideration to adjustments. Some examples of how employers can make a change and be more inclusive. Dan Williams “I established Visualise in 2014 with assistance from The Prince's Trust. As someone who experienced gradual sight loss, I wanted to advance social change for VI (visual Impairment) rights by campaigning and advocating for inclusion, accessibility, equality and diversity. As a qualified eye clinic liaison officer and rehabilitation assistant, and with the help of my guide dog, Zodiac, I carry out workplace assessments to support employees with visual impairments. I deliver training that educates staff to better assist clients or customers with VI. Visualise has worked with over 700 organisations across all sectors. When employees are ‘VI Confident', inclusion becomes ‘business as usual' for everyone involved, leading to increased job satisfaction and a more rewarding environment. I also deliver ‘Seeing Beyond the Eyes' CET workshops to foster closer links between the optical and sight loss sectors to benefit patients. In a voluntary capacity, I'm on the RNIB Working Age and Transitions steering groups which assesses work-related challenges blind and partially sighted people face. I'm also a Young Ambassador for the Prince's Trust and sit on their business launch panels, helping other young people to set up enterprises. I'm a member of the College of Optometrists' Public Patients Reference Group (PPRG), which receives input from patients and the public to improve policies, guidance and patient resources. I am also an active Trustee for The Nystagmus Network charity. In the beginning, sight loss feels like the end, but later, you realise it's just the start of seeing differently and having a new outlook on life. Overcoming challenges has given me resilience, determination and the ambition needed to strive for success. This can also be said of other disabilities, whether they are visible or invisible. We are here to take away the confusion and myths and replace these with solid information that will give you the confidence to interact and welcome those with disabilities into your working environment.” If you'd like to know more about how your organisation can become more Disability Confident and Aware, please email me at daniel@visualisetrainingandconsultancy.co.uk Or give me a call on 07472305268 Together we can make a difference.” About Visualise Visualise Training and Consultancy ltd are on a mission to improve inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities. This enables them to provide excellent service for customers and employees alike while meeting their legal obligations under The Equality Act 2010. What began as a laser-sharp focussed approach centred on sight-loss impairment and its associated elements has since organically grown to encompass other disabilities such as hearing loss in an ever more significant effort for Visualise to truly become a symbol of total inclusivity. In this episode, Astrologer Jason Holley and I explore the love story of Artemis and Orion. This story is etched into our stars through the two oppositional constellations of Scorpio and Orion. The Greeks saw this as a Scorpion, summoned by Artemis, chasing down Orion for all eternity. It was punishment for Orion's depletion of nature through an insatiable desire to hunt until all wildness was gone; Something that violated Artemis' code as a Huntress who, though herself a killer, is dedicated to protecting and perpetuating the species that she hunts. If Orion's behavior was to continue it would have led to a mass extinction on the planet, something that Artemis is unwilling to accept. And so the necessary poison of the Scorpion is unleashed to correct the imbalance. The story is of course complicated, however, by the fact that Orion is the first and only man that Artemis feels an attraction and affinity for. And as such the first time she drops her vow of chastity and virginity and joins the human to human world of love. This betrayal leads to the tragic story of Acteon who has the misfortune of stumbling into a grove where Artemis is bathing naked, years after the event. Stay tuned to hear of his fate and what it all means for us modern humans and our ways of being in the natural world today.Jason and I also explore the tension point between Aphrodite, personifying love and connection, and Artemis' rejection of such things through chastity.Podcast Musician: Marlia CoeurPlease consider becoming a Patron to support the show!Go to OnTheSoulsTerms.com for more.
The one where Green Blooded Bastard watches The Most Dangerous Game. Yeah, it's the film that possibly inspired the Zodiac Killer so give it a look son. It's decent for being an older film.
Gregg is back from the DR and we are good to go. Both of us have NEW WATCH ALERTS. We spend a bit of time mulling the rumors of more layoffs at a certain major watch blog, and basically just shoot the breeze catching up after 3 weeks without an episode (sorry about that). Also, Matt has a busted pipe, and NOT in a good way!! Actually, is there even a way for that to be good..? I guess maybe not, but whatever. Thanks for listening.

BEST OF: A congressional resolution this week was passed with bipartisan support in declaration that Israel is not a racist or apartheid state. Only nine Democrats voted against, but this is likely due to their detest for religion. Israel's President Isaac Herzog was also in Congress this week to criticize Iran's nuclear program, despite Israel itself having hundreds of nuclear weapons, and to tell America that Israel is a purely democratic state. American perception is changing, however, with a Gallup poll showing a new high of 31% of citizens now siding with Palestinians. Israel, in reality, is a proxy of the United States and both countries have agreed to use and exploit Jewish identity for political and financial gains. Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minster of the country, once said that this identity and the history of Jewish suffering is what makes them morally superior to all others, a clear extension of the line that they are God's Chosen People. How different is this from the Master Race of Nazism? Such a belief creates a vacuum for horrendous crimes to be carried out, like Nazism, in the aims of a defined goal. Jewish comedian Roseanne pointed this out recently in an interview, yelling at Piers Morgan that just because Volodymyr Zelenskyy is Jewish doesn't mean he is a good guy. In fact, what Zelenskyy is doing is turning Ukraine into what he called “Big-Israel,” i.e. another U.S. proxy state to launder money, ship weapons, and wage war.Any criticism or acknowledgment of such facts conjures the accusation of anti-semitism, despite a semite being anyone who speaks a semitic language. In other words, Arabs are semites but a person who cannot speak Hebrew who converts to Judaism is not a semite. Likewise, the term Israel translates to God is a Warrior, a reference to the power of god manifesting throughout the entirety of Creation. The nation of Israel is not made of a singular people but of all mankind and nature. For MANKIND is God's CHOSEN PEOPLE. The Twelve Tribes are thus the signs of the animal wheel or Zodiac. The Holy land is furthermore a state of mind, or what Joseph Campbell called “a corner of the heart, or it is any environment that has been mythologically spiritualized.” The capital of perverse sexuality was Berlin in the 1920s but that has since shifted to Tel Aviv, Israel, where Jewish publications are proud of their support for all things sexually unique. Is it any wonder that Hollywood, Disney, and Black Rock, all with disproportionate Jewish influences, produce material and influence culture and business along these lines? This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement
