This episode's special food selection is from the annual Fasnacht holiday event in the preserved Swiss village of Helvetia, WV. Here's what we ordered: Bratwurst sandwich with spicy mustard and sauerkraut, vegetarian chili, assorted potato donuts from Downstate Donuts, homemade traditional hosablatz pastry, ale and stout from Mountain State Brewing This time, the Main Creeps are live! They are joined by their spouses Michael and Britt, for a special trip to Helvetia, WV for the Fasnacht celebration. We tried assorted snacks, watched a parade of folks in masks and costumes, and participated in a bonfire to signify the ending of winter. It's an interesting experience we highly recommend. Kelsey tried beer! "This place is a winter wonderland of delicious food and I'm here for it." - Matt For this episode, Matt covers what was known as the Texarkana Phantom Killer and their spree of murders occurring in 1946 around Texarkana, Arkansas. He details how these killings relate to the movie The Town That Dreaded Sundown, and that the murders are unsolved to this day. The Creeps also share their thoughts on the name of the town itself. The kids selling donuts at the event in Helvetia are raising money for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center, which you can donate to by going to seaturtlehospital.org. You can also benefit the village by going to helvetiawv.com where you can plan a visit or donate directly to the Helvetia Restoration and Development Organization.

(This episode originally dropped on Mach 17, 2021)***On today's episode, O'Dell kicks things off with another true story that inspired an urban legend which has also inspired themes in several horror movies. Today's story is that of The Moonlight Murders which took place in Texarkana in 1946. This was the source material for the 1976 movie "The Town that Dreaded Sundown", as well as the inspiration behind the urban legend of the madman with a hook who stalked teens who would "park" along dark country roads. Erin continues the episode with the alleged suicide (but probably not) of Rebecca Zahau who was found hanging from the balcony of her millionaire boyfriend's mansion. Did she really kill herself? We think not - and the more we think about it, the more all signs point to The Joker. Just before midnight on a Friday in 1946, a nightmare began for the town of Texarkana. An unknown man began attacking couples parked on secluded roads, and after three months, five people would be dead. The Phantom Killer was never caught, but the murders inspired urban legends and movies, and the infamy of the "Moonlight Murders" still lingers around Texarkana to this day. Follow us! All of us have heard the urban legend of the hook man. You know, the one that always starts out with some couple seeking out a dark, secluded spot where they can disregard their virtue. Then the duwop soundtrack of lovers lane is interrupted by radio static and a frantic announcer proclaiming an escaped mental patient with an appetite for murder and a hook for a hand is loose in the area. There are a few variations on what happens next, but usually the couple makes it home to find a bloody hook stuck in one of the car doors. This classic urban legend has been passed down for decades, but it had to start somewhere, right? --Music in this episode: "The Haunting Of Lake" originally composed and produced by "Vivek Abhishek" https://youtu.be/32B0WU0Y7fsandForgotten by REPULSIVE--Thanks for listening and be sure to let me know what you think HERELooking for more episodes? In the spring of 1946, the town of Texarkana was terrorized by a serial killer known as the "Phantom Killer". The masked murderer would lead local law enforcement, Texas Rangers, and even the FBI on a manhunt that would only lead to the killer disappearing as quickly as he had appeared. The case has remained unsolved to this day.
