Today we discuss the tragic unavoidable case of Kenneka Jenkins. On September 8th 2017 Kenneka attended a party at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. She went missing inside the hotel ,and was not found until 12:48am on Sunday, September 10, 2017 in the hotels kitchen freezer. To this day there are still no definite answers for her mother Teresa Martin. Her family deserves answers and she deserved so much more than what happened to her. April brings us the tragic case of 19 year old Kenneka Jenkins who attended a hotel party with her friends one night in 2017. Instead of the night ending with fun memories and laughter it ended with confusion and frustration when Kenneka disappears somewhere inside the hotel. Despite numerous requests by her mom to view hotel camera footage in order to try to find her daughter, and calls to the local police department, she was blocked in every way. 17 hours later Kenneka was found deceased, frozen to death, in a walk in freezer that was located in one of the hotel kitchens. This case has been debated over and over and multiple theories have been given as to what really happened that night, so this is our discussion on this absolutely heartbreaking case. Kenneka Jenkins, a 19-year-old from Chicago, was found dead in a hotel freezer over the weekend. Now her family is pressing for answers as authorities investigate her death. Jenkins' body was found inside a walk-in freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, CBS Chicago reports. Her family said she went to a party at the hotel with friends late Friday night, but then went missing. They said her friends called around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday morning to say they couldn't find her, but had her cellphone and truck keys. Tereasa Martin, the teen's mother, said she tried to get hotel staff to search surveillance video for her missing daughter, but they said they needed a missing person's report. She says police told her to wait a few hours to see if her daughter turned up. Some hours later, they filed the police report.

Investigator say she was so drunk after a party that she accidentally walked into the freezer and was locked inside, but her family suspects she was murdered. A 911 call recording reveals how police initially discouraged the 19-year-old's mother from immediately filing a missing persons report, a delay her family thinks contributed to the teen's death.

The death of Kenneka Jenkins really hit home for me. When I think of the types of people and places that I hung around at the age of 19 years old, I cringe at what could have happened to us. Being adventurous and impulsive, although dangerous, led to most if not all of my insight in my late twenties. I felt Song Cry by August Alsina would be a fitting song for this week because this case is so horrific that the only thing that can describe it is music.
