Dr. Dave Weldon is a physician and former member of Congress. He was born in Amityville, New York, on August 31, 1953. After graduating from Stony Brook University in 1978, he earned his M.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1981. Dr. Weldon served in the U.S Army from 1981 to 1987 and in the Army Reserve from 1987 until 1992. After his military service, he practiced medicine in Florida. Dr. Weldon represented Florida's 15th congressional district in Congress from 1995 to 2009. He is a physician at Health First Medical Group in Malabar, Florida. President Donald Trump nominated Dr. Weldon in November 2024 to serve as Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); however, his nomination was withdrawn by the White House on March 13, 2025, just hours before his scheduled Senate confirmation hearing. Dr. Weldon is married to Nancy Weldon and they have two children.

Labyrinth is a cult classic. But how did things get to this point? We have contrasting memories of its initial popularity. And we both agree it is not the best work from any of the major players involved. Now that Robert Eggers is involved with the sequel, what does the future hold?What does it mean when a film is described as Lynchian? From what we can tell, the definition has changed over the years. The only reason we are even covering 2016's Always Shine is because the word often used to describe it is “Lynchian”. It does fit one definition of the term. Unfortunately, that is not necessarily a good thing.At a very base level, it sounds like Mulholland Drive. But this is more than a movie about two actresses in Los Angeles. In a way, it is almost the exact opposite of Lynch's film. We talk about the odd way it tries to build mystery and tension, the characters, and its abrupt ending.It is no surprise that we are covering a movie from the Sundance Film Festival. It will be shocking to some that we are reviewing a movie that features alien tentacle sex. Of course, if you are a long time listener, you know we have been down this path before. PASTOR CLAUDE STAUFFER Mary Danielsen welcomes back Pastor Claude Stauffer of Calvary Chapel of Hope in Amityville, NY.  Pastor Claude is one of the best expositors of the entire counsel of Scripture, looking at God's Word in a balanced and detailed lens to help the Christian grow in their faith and in their knowledge of their Saviour. Today we talk about "thanksgiving" - not in a head knowledge way, as a cliche, or a superficial way, but in the very lifestyle that is built upon a heart filled to overflowing with gratitude for what God has done for us. Being thankful is God's will for us - and it is a tremendous witness to a lost and dying world. We should be people of praise and filled with joy even during the darkest hours, because God is good above all (Psalm 107). We will look at Romans 1, where Paul makes a charge that part of the downgrade of mankind is because he lacks gratitude. What a powerful verse that is! We also address anxiety and the place of gratitude in counteracting the negative things we tend to dwell on. Thanksgiving is everyone's favorite holiday, so let's "set the table" of our walk with the Lord being people who are thankful above all.  Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise! On December 18, 1975, George and Kathy Lutz moved their family into their new house on Ocean Avenue in Amityville, NY, where, just one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo Jr. had murdered all six members of his family. Twenty-eight days later, the Lutz family fled the home, leaving behind all their belongings and vowing never to return again. According to the Lutzes, their time in the house on Ocean Avenue was a nightmare of psychic attacks and demonic activity that put them in fear for their lives.The supposed experience of the Lutz family served as the basis for the iconic haunted house story, The Amityville Horror, and the countless films adapted from or inspired by the original novel. However, unlike most other stories of paranormal experiences, The Amityville Horror became a phenomenon that influenced everything from Ronald DeFeo's criminal defense to the American public's belief in the supernatural. On the evening of November 13, 1974, twenty-three-year-old Ronald DeFeo Jr. burst through the door of Henry's Bar in Amityville, Long Island, frantically yelling for help and telling the patrons that someone had killed his parents. When a small group returned to the house with DeFeo, they discovered that not only had his parents, Louise and Ronald Sr., been killed, but so had his four brothers and sisters—all shot to death in their beds with a .35 caliber rifle.During a police interview that night, investigators became suspicious of Ronald DeFeo. Not only was his story of a mob hit difficult to believe, but he seemed incapable of keeping certain aspects of his story straight during the interview. The next day, DeFeo broke down and confessed to the murders, explaining that he had hated his father and telling investigators, “Once I started [shooting], I just couldn't stop.”Ronald DeFeo's trial was one of New York's biggest news stories of 1975 and attracted considerable attention due to his attempt to mount an insanity defense and his frequent outbursts in the courtroom. In the end, the defense was unsuccessful and DeFeo was convicted of the murders and sentenced to life in prison.
