Kerri discusses the disturbing true crime case that shook Mississippi to its core. Ally Kostial was 21 years old when she went missing, and was then soon found murdered. The tragedy unfolded as Ally's body was discovered at Sardis Lake, leaving a community devastated. Donna and Kerri shed light on the haunting details of Ally's life, her complicated relationship with Brandon, and the unsettling text chains discussing potential pregnancy. Through this heart-wrenching story, we are reminded of the importance of open communication and the need for a safe space for our loved ones to share their darkest fears. We talk about the infamous haunted Sorrel-Weed House in Savannah. Steeped in history, this grand house has witnessed unspeakable tragedies and lingering spirits. The enigmatic deaths of Molly and Matilda, along with rumors of Francis' infidelity, provide a haunting backdrop to this mysterious tale. While the neighboring house may have housed the victims, it begs the question: why does the Sorrel-Weed House bear the brunt of paranormal activity? Visitors have reported chilling phenomena, including the unexplained sounds of footsteps, knocking, and doors opening and closing on their own. The presence of shadow people lurking within its walls has sent shivers down the spines of even the most skeptical guests. Ghostly apparitions captured in mirrors and photos leave no doubt that the spirits of the past still occupy the Sorrel-Weed house. This week we're talking about one of the most infamously haunted houses in all of Savannah, the Sorrel Weed House! This home supposedly houses the spirits of Francis Sorrel, Matilda Sorrel, and Molly, among many others. We'll discuss the history of the home, the stories of the hauntings, and we'll even talk about our own paranormal investigation we did while there. When in the basement we captured several EVPs - one of which is the spookiest thing we've ever recorded. Are the ghostly tales of this beautiful home true? And if not, what's the real history? One thing we know for sure - this house is definitely haunted. On What We're Watching, we review the 2023 Drama/Mystery/Sci-Fi show “Black Mirror” season 6, episode 2 entitled “Loch Henry.” On Layla and Coffee talk, we talk about their experience with food. The Sorrel-Weed House is one of the first massive mansions to be built in Savannah, Georgia, and its sprawling 16,000 square foot presence overlooks one of the oldest squares in the city. But there's more to this building than just its impending size. Its history of tragedy, death, illnesses and suicide make it one of the most haunted destinations in the United States.Aubrey Northrop, a tour guide at the mansion, shares the history of the house and her own paranormal experiences that she's witnessed during her short time there as an employee. And, of course, tours run throughout the year and she invites everyone to come experience the spirits for themselves.

This week we virtually travel to the most haunted city in the country, before we literally travel to it next year - Savannah, GA! There are so many haunted locations in this town that it was difficult to pick just 2. We chose the Hamilton Turner Inn and the Sorrel Weed House for this week's episode. From Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, to mass Revolutionary War graves, these 2 locations are infamous for every thump, bump, cigar smell, and spirits who photo bomb your selfies. And Carrie brings it all home with one of the most insane fun facts she's delivered on this podcast yet!
In our first episode, we visit the Sorrel Weed House, the haunted Wright Sqaure and the ghost of Alice Riley, historic Grayson stadium and their umpire ghost, and the legend of boy giant Rene Rondolia. Sitting right on Madison Square is one of Savannah's most treasured historic houses, the Sorrel Weed House. It's made cameos in movies and television, from Forrest Gump to the Today Show, but the building's true claim to fame is not its size, nor its architecture, its the ghosts that inhabit its halls. The Sorrel Weed House is not only among the most haunted houses in Savannah; it's one of the most well-known haunted houses in the world. The strange haunts and horrifying history have brought quite a bit of attention to the Sorrel Weed House, As a result, the building has been the subject of several paranormal investigations.[FOLLOW ON SOCIAL MEDIA & MORE]TWITTER: www.twitter.com/SouthernOddPodINSTAGRAM: www.instagram.com/SouthernOddPodJARED'S TWITTER: www.twitter.com/jared_ordisJARED'S INSTAGRAM: www.instagram.com/jared.ordis[ADDITONAL INFORMATION]Questions or Business Inquiry, Email Us @ ordisstudios@gmail.comResearched was used for this episode of Southern Oddities, and we couldn't have made it possible without the journalism and dedication from these awesome sources of information: Wikipedia [Sorrel Weed House] Sorrel Weed House [Website] Country Living [Sorrel Weed House Savannah Haunted] Ghost Savannah [The Sorrel Weed House Haunted] Savannah Terrors [The Suicides at the Sorrel Weed House]"Southern Oddities" is created & produced by Jared Ordis, an Ordis Studios production. It seemed to have gills or matted hair that looked like gills on its face and head; two yellow eyes leered out from under a prominent forehead. That's the description one witness had for the thing in City Park, New Orleans. (The City Park Thing) *** Anyone who knew the little family before that July day would say that one thing was certain, Vernon Plager loved his wife and daughter more than anything. But then Paul Reed moved to the neighborhood, and it led to more than just a broken marriage… it led to murder. (Wrapped in Ivy) *** The moose is said to be a ghostly white and a giant of stature and weight, antlers bigger than any other moose ever seen. Considered a harbinger of doom, it was first reported in 1891… but has been seen as recently as 2002. Could this giant, ghostly moose at Lobster Lake, North Dakota actually have existed – or still exist? (The Specter Moose of Lobster Lake) *** For the citizens of Brabant Province, Belgium, the era of the Brabant Killers, left behind traumatic wounds that have never really healed. The Sorrel-Weed House, located in Savannah, Georgia, is the most actively haunted building in Savannah, and considered one of the top ten haunted locations in the United States. People have seen shadows and orbs, have been touched by unseen hands, and have gotten EVP's of voices and screams. Several have experienced a sharp pain in the kidneys, and many others have been overcome with intense nausea that disappears once they are no longer in the building. Many believe that the spirits of the owner's wife and mistress are the ones haunting the home, but because the house was built where the bloodiest battle of the Revolutionary War happened, it is more likely that soldiers haunt the building. During the aftermath of the Siege of Savannah in 1779, the fallen soldiers were buried where they fell and still remain there today. Who haunts this location? Lurking quietly on Madison Square in Savannah sits the Sorrel-Weed House. Nicknamed shady corner by the family itself due to all the big beautiful trees casting a shade upon this mansion in the city. In the end though, the only thing shadier than the trees around the house would be the family and their dark, hidden, and somewhat twisted secrets. We have been inside the Sorrel-Weed House twice and while we have never had a paranormal experience in the house, there is definitely an energy inside this house. The house has been through many changes in its 175+ years. After starting as an Antebellum mansion to a wealthy slave owner named Francis Sorrel, it served as a store that found the outside of the house completely changed, then it was apartments and finally is a museum today, in much need of renovation. The house was witness to tragedy and today is considered to be quite haunted and has been featured by both Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures. Join us as we take you through the history and hauntings of the Sorrel-Weed House! The Moment in Oddity features a fifty degree temperature change in just 2 minutes and This Month in History features the Four Chaplains heroic act. If you're intrigued by the supernatural, or just like scary stories, a ghost tour can be a fun way to see a city and learn about its history. But ghost stories tend to be about people who experienced violence while they were alive, or had unfinished business that caused them to come back as a spirit. And we all know what group of people were historically subjected to violence in the American south. And that's how black trauma ends up repackaged as entertainment on southern ghost tours. Tiya Miles was visiting the Sorrel-Weed House in Savannah, Georgia, when guides presented the tale of Molly, who supposedly haunts the historic home. Molly was described as a "slave girl" who was the "mistress" of the home's patriarch, and was killed by his wife when she discovered their relationship. Not only is this a very real and very ugly historical phenomenon presented as entertainment, but the terminology implicates Molly in her own fate, wrongly casting her as a willing participant in a consensual affair. Tiya Miles is the author of “Tales from the Haunted South: Dark Tourism and Memories of Slavery from the Civil War Era." She joins us this week to talk about what she's learned about ghostly folklore, and how the story of Molly sheds light on what we tend to remember - and forget - about our history.
