In this episode of The Curious Realm, host Christopher Jordan welcomes Chester Moore, a wildlife journalist and host of the Dark Outdoors podcast. We discuss the famous case of the “Texarkana Phantom Moonlight Murders” and how this landmark case spawned not only a movie but a spate of style-copying serial killers in its wake. In the second part of the episode, we welcome author and researcher Dr John Hall to discuss the world of targeted individuals and the possible technologies used in their targeting. For decades, groups of individuals around the globe have reported gang stalking, and symptomologies that range from physical pain to brain fog, and even voices in their heads that are not their own. Is it possible that there are technologies with these capabilities, and why are they being used on seemingly random people within the general population? Welcome to Texarkana, where Death's Interns are working overtime—and the body count is rising.Meet Death's Interns: part-time grim reapers, full-time troubleshooters for the supernatural community. Usually, their biggest headache is keeping the local vampires from picking fights at the all-night diner. But now? They're hunting a killer.Bodies are dropping faster than autumn leaves, and it's not just humans filling up the morgue. Someone—or something—is cutting a bloody swath through Texarkana. As Halloween creeps closer, Death's Interns find themselves in a race against time. Can they unmask the killer before Texarkana's secret community becomes front-page news? Or will long-buried prejudices turn neighbor against neighbor, predator against prey?In a town where death is just another day job, the real challenge is staying alive. If you devoured every episode of Supernatural or Charlaine Harris's Midnight Texas, and loved Terry Pratchett's Night Watch, sink your teeth into this wickedly fun, pulse-pounding urban fantasy. Just remember: in Texarkana, the things that go bump in the night... bump back.Cursed by Fur is a standalone novel and book three in the Once Upon a Curse book series.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/houseofmysteryradio. Braga, King, and Ski talk Smokey and the Bandit. Burt Reynolds and Sally Field help a truck avoid Jackie Gleason while it drives illegal Coors from Texarkana to Atlanta in 28 hours for a rich guy's party. Yeah, that's a real thing. It was a huge hit, but does it hold up? Listen!
Is financial literacy missing from your life like that sock you swear went in the dryer? Tiffany Aliche, AKA The Budgetnista, is here to help you find it—minus the lint. She shares her journey to financial wholeness and takes us behind the scenes of her brand-new PBS special. Meanwhile, Joe and OG break down why financial education starts with community (not overpriced guru courses), why ‘Buy Now, Pay Later' is the financial equivalent of eating fast food in your car—feels great now, but you'll regret it later—and how even a trip to Texarkana can teach you a thing or two about money. Plus, a story involving World War II espionage that somehow made its way into the mix. Here's what's on tap this week: Kicking off Monday with a solid dose of grumpiness (and a passionate store-brand rant). Hanging with The Budgetnista—Tiffany Aliche takes us behind the scenes. Why financial literacy isn't just about numbers—it's about community. The sneaky financial traps that might be eating your wallet alive. Tiffany's PBS special—how she tackled stage fright and delivered a knockout show. Headlines that made us go “Wait, WHAT?!”—including Klarna and DoorDash teaming up. ‘Buy Now, Pay Later'—why it's like borrowing money from Future You (and Future You is not happy about it). Mortgage strategies, financial independence, and the art of dodging debt. Could you survive a week on cash only? One of us is trying (and maybe crying). Food waste: it's not just bad for the planet—it's silently draining your bank account. Upcoming meetups, tax tips, and basement-style money wisdom you can actually use. And if you stick around long enough, well… who knows what else might show up? The Texarkana Moonlight Murders were a series of brutal attacks in 1946, where an unidentified assailant, dubbed the “Phantom Killer,” stalked and murdered young couples in secluded areas around Texarkana, Texas, and Arkansas. The killer, known for wearing a white sack mask, claimed five lives and seriously injured three others, instilling terror throughout the region and sparking one of the largest manhunts in the area's history. Despite numerous suspects and investigations, the case remains unsolved, inspiring books, films, and a lasting urban legend of a faceless killer who vanished without a trace. Nashville based soul artist Jed Harrelson has found a way to fuse sounds of Soul, Rock and R&B. Music connects and he carries that into the center of his work, leaving both a euphoric and familiar presence. While he's independently released 12 songs in the last three years, he is currently working on a debut project. All of his music is recorded in house with his brother Hank as the audio engineer. Being from Texarkana, Arkansas instilled a drive to hone in on his craft though the lack of music scene caused him to move where he could really express his artistic message which took him to Fayetteville, Arkansas. This is where he cut his teeth in the Northwest Arkansas music scene. Now living in Nashville since January 2020, Jed is independently touring the country with his band in a gold van called 'The Loaf". Jerry Atkins was a well known musician, jazz historian, and record collector who lived in Texarkana, Texas until his passing in 2010. His record collection was huge and was donated to the the radio station where I work and produce Big Band Bash. Since most of these albums have not been purchased by the station, I have been digitizing some of them. It is amazing how well the software cleans up ticks and pops and eliminates surface noise from the records. I have decided to present four shows from the many albums that Jerry had. Part one features several albums by Les Brown, Part two will be Woody Herman, Parts three and four will be assorted bands. I hope you enjoy the music from the many record albums in the Jerry Atkins Collection. Please visit this podcast at http://bigbandbashfm.blogspot.com

HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST continues and we're discussing our second “True Threat Thursday” selection! Every Thursday this month is horror based on true events and we hit up an early slasher film by “Legend of Boggy Creek” director Charles B. Pierce. In 1946 a masked man killed 5 people in Texarkana and seized the mid-size town in fear. Maybe if you removed the cop comedy and the trombone scene then Charles Pierce's 1976 true crime thriller “THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN” might hit a little better. Controversial in the area after only 30 years of the crimes, now they watch this movie in Texarkana every year. I wonder if the crowd does a specific thing when they see the cameraman on the train like they might do during viewings of the Rocky Horror Picture show? This movie stars Ben Johnson, Andrew Prine & Dawn Wells. Of course some there are some changes made from fact. Like the part where the police almost get him after the killer takes a daytime stroll in the woods with his mask on. If it wasn't for that damn train. Discover a vision of hope and redemption that transcends time and culture. Join us as we journey through the night visions of Zechariah, focusing on the powerful, symbolic imagery that has captivated theologians for centuries. Broadcasting from Texarkana, Arkansas, we revisit the first three visions: a peaceful world, God's justice against oppressors, and an inclusive Jerusalem. Then, we turn our attention to Zechariah 3, where Joshua the high priest stands accused but ultimately finds hope and restoration. In this episode, we unravel the profound significance of Joshua's transformation from filthy garments symbolizing sin to clean clothes representing divine righteousness. This recurring biblical theme ties together priestly garments from Leviticus, Samuel's linen ephod, and Isaiah's depiction of filthy rags, connecting seamlessly with New Testament references like Jesus' parable of the wedding garments and Paul's exhortation to "put on Christ." We also reflect on Revelation's rich clothing imagery, emphasizing the white garments of the redeemed. Finally, we delve into the prophetic imagery of the "branch" from Isaiah, a symbol deeply embedded in Messianic prophecies. We highlight the connection between Zechariah's vision and the promise of a righteous priesthood, preparing for the coming Messiah. Drawing parallels to Jesus as the great high priest in the order of Melchizedek, we interpret Zechariah's prophecies as a foreshadowing of Christ's redemptive work. Join us as we explore these timeless visions and their relevance to our understanding of divine righteousness and ultimate salvation.LinksSupport Ryan and Brian's Bible BistroPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/thebiblebistroFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thebiblebistroInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebiblebistro/Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3H7qRmgSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3I7Gw6AWebsite: https://www.thebiblebistro.comRyan and Brian's Bible Bistro is a podcast all about the Bible, theology, and all things related to the Christian faith.

The Denton Police had lost four days by the time they found out 21-year-old Virginia Carpenter was missing. But when they did, searches were organized quickly, and information was dispatched to law enforcement nationwide. When Texas Ranger Lewis C. Rigler entered the case, one of his immediate concerns was interviewing a handful of folks, including Virginia's suitor, Kenny. Although his one eyebrow remained raised at the thought of this young man's potential motives, Ranger Rigler could find nothing implicating him. Upon the discovery that the Carpenter Family was acquainted with three of the victims of a series of depraved and notorious crimes in Virginia's hometown of Texarkana, the lawman couldn't help but wonder if the infamous Phantom Killer also had a hand in her disappearance. You can support Gone Cold – Texas True Crime and listen to the show ad-free at patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us at https://www.gonecold.comFollow gone cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X.
