Date: January 12, 2025 Worship Leader: Danessa Gonzalez Speaker: Chris Peppler Passage: Acts 11:19-26 / 13:1-3 Video: Russell Johnson Part II (24:43-50:08) Reflection Questions for Video THREE | In Antioch, the church cultivated friends, not followers. Describe a relationship with a friend or mento who has impacted the way you follow Jesus. Describe a relationship with a friend who is of a different generation, ethnic background, who speaks a different language, or is from a different culture who has impacted the way you see diversity in the Body of Christ. FOUR | In Antioch, they were looking for God's called, not just the charismatic. What is a gift God has given you that is often overlooked by many, but still seems to be making a difference in people's lives as you share it with them? Are you ever discouraged in your gifts because you don't feel like they are recognized? If so, explain. What are the overlooked gifts in the lives of people around you that you could foster and encourage them to step into? How could you encourage them? FIVE | In Antioch, the church was committed to sending, not staying. If you could be sent out as a missionary from your church, where do you think you would be sent? (Within the church? Within the neighborhood? Beyond?) If that were to happen, how would you need your church family to be praying for you? SIX | In Antioch, the church was living in exile, not its own empire. In what ways do you most feel like you're living in a world you don't belong to? In what ways might you reimagine the ways you're living out your faith because our culture is changing so quickly? In what ways do you imagine that God may be doing something new through your life and through the life of South Everett Foursquare this year?
Date: January 5, 2025 Speaker: Chris Peppler Passage: Acts 11:19-26 Video Link: Russell Joyce - Distinctives of the Antioch Church (Watch Through 24:43) Questions for 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting: "Lord, what is your heart towards us? How do you want to transform us? What is your invitation to join you in your work this year? ONE | In Antioch, the church's life was oriented around the presence, not the platform. What are the platforms we have in our lives presently What places and/or resources are available to us by which we can broadcast thoughts, messages and ideas? How closely is our sense of self-worth connected to the size and scope of our platform? In what ways are you currently experiencing the private presence of God in your life? When Jesus asks you, what do you love about my private presence, what do you say to Him? TWO | In Antioch, the church was filled with the prophetic, not the performance. How might you be/could you be operating as a prophetic voice? How do you see South Everett operating as a prophetic voice on Sunday and during the throughout the week? Are there ways you may be striving to gain the attention of others, through self-driven performance?

Date: December 22, 2204 Worship Leader: Chris Norby Speaker: Chris Peppler Passage: Luke 2:1-21 / Philippians 2:1-11 / 1 Peter 1:3-9 Video: A Visit to Bethlehem (Dr. Randall Smith) Devotional Questions: ONE: If I can remember that Christ came into the chaotic realities of our world as a baby 2000 years ago, I can find JOY amidst the chaotic realities of our world today. Reflection Question: Just like Solomon wondered if God would really dwell on earth, what are you wondering about if God could really do today? How might that specific action on God's behalf bring you JOY (calm delight) today? TWO: If I can remember that the Lord will do things in unexpected ways to accomplish His purposes, I can find JOY when I think I'm out of options. Reflection Question: When has the Lord done the unexpected thing in an unexpected way to bring you JOY when you thought you were out of options? THREE: If I can remember that Jesus chose to become like us, I can find JOY when I don't feel like anyone knows what I am going through. Reflection Question: When was a time when the Lord met you when you were feeling a little lost and alone?
Date: December 15, 2024 Worship Leader: Danessa Gonzalez Speaker: Chris Peppler Passage: 1 Kings 8:22-30 / 1 John 3:1 / Luke 2:1-7 Activity ONE Question: Why did Jesus come as a child, and why does our Lord invite us to embrace a childlike posture before him? If you were to do a little investigative reporting on this series of unfolding events, what would you uncover? Answer the following questions about the Luke 2:1-7 text. Who: What: Where: When: Why: How: Activity TWO The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, we have seen his glory, the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” - John 1:14 NIV “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” - John 1:14 The Message When we hand a child a box of crayons, they will draw for hours. When we hand an adult a box of crayons, they will quickly tell us they are not an artist. Where did we lose our wonder, and how can we reclaim it? Using your imagination, draw a picture of John 1:14 as the Lord reveals it to you.

Date: October 13, 2024 Worship Leader: Emily Holmes Speaker: Chris Peppler Passage: Matthew 21:23-23:39 (A Composite) The Seven Woes (Matthew 23:13-36) Grief unto you. Blessed are the poor in spirit. Blessed are those who mourn. Blessed are the meek. (accurate self-view) Lost without God, complete in Him! You shut the door of heaven in people's faces. Who might I be excluding from the kingdom? How might I be doing it? Why am I doing it? You corrupt your disciples. What kind of disciple is my life producing? (Grace or works dependent) You wobble in your commitments. As a growing disciple of Jesus, how firm is my yes? What is my motivation for saying yes? You've neglected mercy and justice. What demonstrations of justice and mercy impact me the most? You're full of greed and self-indulgence. Who in your life has unrestricted access to call you out on your shortcomings? You put up a spiritual front, but you're dead inside. What is one dead or dying area you would like to invite Jesus to bring new life back to? You criticize others and follow their lead. What is a practice you call out in others that you're also guilty of practicing at times?

Date: September 29, 2024 Worship Leader: Danessa Gonzalez Speaker: Chris Peppler Passage: John 11:1-44 Video Clip: Jesus and Lazarus Grief Worksheet: What is your first response, typically, when you receive troubling news? Denial Shock Fear /Anxiety Sadness Disorientation Rescue Mode Peace and Hope Think of a few times when receiving bad news hit you pretty hard and make note of them. Four Observations About Grief From this Text: Grief Takes Time and Requires Our Attention | Because we're not great at waiting, Jesus gives us opportunities to wait. This won't be the first time. Jesus, for our sake, waits. Why? This was the grievance both Martha and Mary had when Jesus showed up late (according to their own understanding.) “If you had been here…that's bargaining. Waiting increases dependence and dependence increases intimacy with Jesus. We will make time for grief or grief will choose a time for us. Jesus Responds Uniquely to Each of Us in Our Grief Martha and Mary approached Jesus with the same grievance and different responses to it. Jesus made space for each of them in their grief journey. Jesus Joins Us in Our Grief This is empathy. Sometimes we see that words are helpful. Sometimes we see that they aren't. Regardless of the circumstance, what is most helpful is presence. Jesus Leads Us From Grief to a Resurrected Life This sickness will not end in death….Sometimes in what is temporary, but always in what is eternal. From an eternal perspective, we can know the end from the beginning! Because we know that goodness and mercy will follow us, we can stop, feel our emotions, name our emotions and speak truth to our emotions.

Date: September 15, 2024 Worship Leader: Chris Norby Speaker: Lauren Phillips Passage: Matthew 19:13-14 Video Illustration: The Chosen To be like children in Jesus' presence: Requires humility to receive Jesus' invitation. Requires confidence that even when we have nothing to offer Jesus, he still welcomes and receives us. Remember that God has time, space, energy and love available for us at all times. We have an opportunity to resist fear, and live securely in our identity as his children. Discussion Questions: What was one thing you loved about being a kid? What is one way you would like to be more childlike? As adults, what can be the most challenging aspect of becoming like a child the way Jesus is inviting us to?
Date: September 15, 2024 Worship Leader: Chris Norby Worship Reflection and Prayer: Chris Peppler Our time in worship on Sunday lended itself to an extended time of prayer with one another. In consideration of the promises God has invited us to wait patiently for, we asked, "In what areas are we contending with God to see promises come about?" We invite you into this time of worship and to consider for yourself, "Where you wrestling with God to see not yet realized promises come to fruition?"

Date: August 25, 2024 Worship Leader: Chris Norby Speaker: Chris Peppler Passages: Luke 1:1-4, Acts 1:1-5, Colossians 1:27 Additional Reference: Practicing the Way, John Mark Comer Reflections: Because the life of Jesus is reflected through us by the presence of the Holy Spirit, we can ask the question, What Would Jesus Do If He Were Me? How might our daily rhythms change as our cognitive awareness of Jesus' presence with us increases? Take 6 minutes and reflect, how would a regular day in your life be impacted if Jesus was physically by your side. A part of your morning rhythm, your commute, your work day, your extracurricular activities, your down time, your conversations, your relationships?

Turning God into A Habit Where do our minds settle, where does our attention turn when we have opportunities to rest? What are things we do besides resting when our minds and bodies have a chance to be still? The Reward for Following Jesus is Jesus! Practical Ways to Be with Jesus Pray the Psalms (Not Read, Pray) Meditate on a Passage of Scripture Talk to God About Our Life Listen for His Voice Attempt to Let Go (Cast our Burdens on God) Just Sit Focus on Our Breath Look at What Our Eyes Can't See Find Our Secret Place “If we want to reach the depth of life with God that Jesus modeled, we need to find a diversion-free place to get away and be alone with the Father. It could be an office in the woods, your bedroom late at night, or a park down the street from your house. Or if all that fails, a closet or pantry. The point is, like Jesus, we need to learn to hide.” Comer, 56-57
