In our latest podcast, we chat about what went on in Corrie between the 13th and the 17th October (Episodes #11,693 - 11,698). In what turned out to be a rather mixed week on the cobbles, some storylines failed to hit the mark while others had us completely gripped – most notably the escalating game of cat and mouse between Theo and Todd. We were stunned when Theo brazenly admitted to Todd that he'd been unfaithful, blaming Todd's supposed closeness with Billy, and we loved seeing Todd finally stand up for himself – especially with his not-so-subtle flaunting of his ex during the Rovers' Mr and Mrs contest. However, as we all know, this abusive relationship is far from its conclusion... Elsewhere on the Street, we saw poor Tyrone struggling to adjust to life in a wheelchair amidst constant bickering from his family, while Asha's return from hospital showed she is clearly still suffering too. Meanwhile, Becky wasted no time in making herself at home at Number 6 while Carla was away, Carl pushed Abi to take Kevin to the cleaners in their divorce, and Hope found herself the target of some malicious text messages – but who could be behind them?

Richie suffered a serious knee injury and at the time of the chat was in the middle of intense rehab. He is currently in the throws of a club championship with his club Trillick in one of if not the toughest competitions in the country. In 2021 he set up Natur & co, a social wellness club in Tyrone and has now moved his focus to the medical industry. We discuss his move from a traditional 9-5 role to owning a business. Sika (cervus nippon) is a mid-sized deer that was introduced to Ireland in the 1860s to the Powerscourt Estate. Soon after that, it started spreading across Ireland. Today, the main concentrations of sika are in Kerry, Wicklow, Tyrone and Fermanagh. More recently, it has also been found in Waterford, Galway, Limerick, and Wexford. The National Biodiversity Data Centre in Ireland lists sika as an invasive species. Despite that, it's afforded protection under the Wildlife Act. It is prized by hunters as a game species and a source of excellent quality venison on the one hand, and hated by foresters and environmentalists for the damage to forestry and biodiversity on the other.Sika is present on the entire European continent and, although not as widespread as in Ireland, it is also causing similar problems. This is reflected in the recent move by the European Commission to launch consultations to put sika on the Invasive Alien Species (IAS) list across the Union. This poses the obvious question: what does it mean for the Irish population of sika if the EC makes such a decision? Will or should it be allowed continuous protection with open and closed hunting seasons? Or should it be reduced to the status of vermin and be eradicated across the country? To discuss the potential future of sika deer in Ireland and present a whole spectrum of views about this species, and invasive species more generally, I spoke with four expert guests presenting different views on the subject.
