He has published extensively on different aspects of Ireland's First World War and Revolutionary experiences. He was a co-editor of the critically acclaimed Atlasof the Irish University which was made into a television series. An active public historian, John frequently appears on Irish television and radio.Hiram Morgan (born Belfast, 1960) is a historian at University College Cork, where he has lectured since 1996. Educated at St Patrick's College Knock and the University of Cambridge (BA–PhD), he is the author of Tyrone's Rebellion (Royal Historical Society, 1993) and editor of several volumes including Political Ideology in Ireland (1999) and The Battle of Kinsale (2004). He co-founded History Ireland magazine and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. Morgan currently directs CELT, the Corpus of Electronic Texts at UCC, one of the world's largest digital resources for Irish studies.

In The Shape of Dreams (Random House, 2026) April Reynolds introduces readers to a trio of women bond in friendship as a neighborhood tries to seek justice from a system that has forgotten them. It's the mid-eighties in East Harlem: a twelve-year-old black boy's murdered body is found by Mathilda "Twin" Johnson, an unlikely hero who is both the neighborhood's troublemaker and its conscience. When she breaks a cardinal rule—“don't call the cops”—her decision ensnares a community and brings unmanageable grief to a mother. Anita, a postal worker and army widow, is determined to solve her son's Tyrone's murder, and her quest galvanizes the neighborhood, which is itself a complex character in this teeming novel, with its Mets fans and gossips, immigrant shop owners and latch-key kids. Tyrone Lam, is Chief Business Development Officer at GATC Health, a company that has developed a predictive AI model to derisk and accelerate drug discovery and development. A significant partnership with Lloyd's of London to use this technology to underwrite insurance for clinical trials enables the insurer to base financing decisions on objective reports that predict a drug's safety and efficacy with high accuracy. There is potential for this technology to become a standard for biotech investment, reducing reliance on animal testing and enabling more efficient development of drugs for smaller patient populations.  Tyrone explains, "GATC Health is a technology company that is de-risking and accelerating the drug discovery and drug development process. So at a higher level, our mission is to take as much of the financial and scientific risk out of the drug discovery business as possible, which would enable better, safer, and more available drugs to be available for humans."   "Our overall platform is called Operon that has literally hundreds of AI models built in that basically do three things. One is that we're able to discover and validate in silico the targets in the body associated with a particular disease. And then the second piece of our platform broadly is the ability to generate novel compounds to treat those diseases. (Officer Commanding) of the Third Northern Division which had responsibility for Belfast.
