Speaker: Ken Primeau, Pastor of Mercy Road Northeast. Date: May 18, 2025 One of the most fascinating things about Jesus' teaching is how he reveals profound truths about himself through his life and mission. In the Gospel of John, we get a series of powerful “I am” statements—seven, to be exact—that give us a deeper glimpse into who Jesus really is. Now, this isn't just a catchy phrase. The “I am” echoes something much bigger—something that takes us back to Exodus 3:14, when God first introduces himself to Moses as “I am who I am.” This wasn't just a divine mic drop. It declared that God is eternal—always was, always is, and always will be. So when Jesus uses the phrase "I am," he's not just talking about his characteristics; he's connecting himself to God in the most powerful, unmistakable way as God Himself. Sometimes, it can be easy to be led by our emotions, and that can get in the way of our obedience to God. In today's episode, I reflect on what it looks like to turn to Scripture when my feelings try to take the lead. I open up about my own experiences with bringing my emotions to God and how He's helped me process them in light of His truth, rather than letting them control my decisions.PATREONWe now have a Black Girl Theology community on Patreon!
