Fornication is one of those old timey words that needs to make a comeback to our modern parlance. Our culture is absolutely drunk on the proliferation of fornication. It's in our marketing, our movies and tv shows, all over our phones through social media and so-called "news". Selling illicit sex is a hugely profitable business, and everyone is susceptible to the temptation to indulge. In this discussion Chris & Pastor Randy discuss the many ways that Satan has normalized fornication in society, and what individually we can do to combat it.
Season 2 kicks off with the 1st in our series of LAYMAN vs. PASTOR, in which I interrogate a pastor for clarification on some of the issues of our modern times that confound us.This episode revolves around a devotional email that Pastor Randy Anderson (1st E Free Sioux Falls) recently sent out centered on Psalm 4:4 - "Be angry and do not sin: ponder in your own hearts in your own beds, and be silent. Selah"Seems simple, but does this mean that we are not to engage in the Culture Wars, or confront evil?
In this episode, we celebrate a local pastor for his fearless stance on preaching the entire bible to his congregation. One issue we discuss is his recent sermon on the “Pathetic Propaganda” used by the wicked to distort and weaken the sovereignty of Jesus, both during His time and now. We also touch on some churches falling prey to the “affirmation” cult and Theological Minimalism as a means to fill pews.GUESTPastor Randy Anderson“Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” —Romans 12:2The Based Podcast is executive produced by Didactic Productions.
God made men to be lions, not love bunnies. The Campus Preacher is a living example of what it means to be a lion; as he travels the country preaching the Word of God, Based on the entire bible, to what must surely be the most hostile environment in modern America - the college campus. As we've stated in earlier shows, “kids are dumb”, and this hate-fact is truer than ever as modern college-age young adults have turbo-charged their lack of wisdom with an overdose of worthless and false data seasoned with regime-approved propaganda.Guest:Keith Darrell“Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.” —2 Corinthians 2:17The Based Podcast is executive produced by Didactic Productions.
Most believers know that our culture has become grossly "debased". How do we get "re-based"?Here we discuss the importance of Based Storytelling. For the most part, Christians have abandoned the field of storytelling in our modern times. But the Creator of the Universe, whom we serve, is the author of EVERY story; and of course Jesus was the most effective story (parable) teller of all time. One nugget from this discussion is that every story seems to contain the same three components that we all battle in our lives: World - Flesh - Devil.GUEST: Jason Farley"Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—those he redeemed from the hand of the foe...” —Psalms 107:2The Based Podcast is executive produced by Didactic Productions.
Sometimes, if one is seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God will speak in VERY CLEAR language. This is what happened to our guest, as he contemplated his plans for his ministry on the Crow Creek Reservation. God told him to feed His people, every week, and He would handle the rest from there. Obedience leads to blessings; faithfulness in our works is Kingdom-building.Jeff also shares some hilarious stories about food-smuggling through roadblocks during the height of the “panicdemic”.Guest: Pastor Jeff Kuiper"Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!" —Psalm 90:17The Based Podcast is executive produced by Didactic Productions.
Much of our modern entertainment/propaganda creators push the fantasy that children are the source of magical special knowledge, while adults fiddle fart their way through life, one crisis to the next. But, what seasoned adults in “the real world” know is that kids are dumb™ and not to be listened to. However, in this episode we interview two exceptions to this rule. Young men (18 years old) who are Based on the Word and who just may provide the spark of hope that we are leaving this world in capable hands.Guests: Elijah Seymore & Caleb Hulsebus“...fools despise wisdom and instruction.” — Proverbs 1:7The Based Podcast is executive produced by Didactic Productions.
The heart of anger beats to the pulsating sense of entitlement that “we deserve better than this!” Humility — the abandonment of the self-deception of control — is the antidote to anger.Derrick Marks is a recovering "angry man", Yankton Sioux Tribal Council member, pastor, based-on-the-word up and comer who joins us to discuss a condition that afflicts many young men — angry man syndrome. We also get into some thorny issues that you will hear nowhere else about the past and current tensions between Native Americans and non-Natives.Guest:Derrick Marks“Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools.” — Ecclesiastes 7:9
Pastor Uri recently wrote an article for the Fight Laugh Feast magazine titled “CULTURE WARS & THE LAND GOD PROMISED”, in which these nuggets appeared:“In the last 50 years, many found the seduction of tranquility and monastic living more appealing than fighting the war for the land of Canaan.”“They will take their culture wars with an extra shot of espresso.”“Local pastors must speak clearly and unambiguously on these cultural issues.”Have you been trained to be a “Love Bunny” instead of a Lion? Maybe it's time to do something about that.GUESTPastor Uri Brito"It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith." Romans 4:13
The “trans” movement has now zoomed in on the most vulnerable of humanity — children. Our guest @BillboardChris is putting his life on the line of the Culture War front lines, fighting the great battle of our time: the “Trans” movement. This sinister crusade is being perpetuated by some of our most trusted medical institutions, such as Boston Children's Hospital, where Billboard Chris has protested the barbarism of performing double mastectomies and castrations on young teens. Some believe that the current obsession with “Gender Affirming Care” is a feint for the real longterm agenda of Transhumanism (look it up, if you dare).GUESTBillboard Chris (Elston)"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female He created them." —Genesis 1:27

For many of us parents, we simply are outgunned when it comes to influencing our children against our modern decadent, corrupted, pagan culture. As we recently heard a local pastor say, we are the most messaged humans in all of history. And honestly, the majority of the messaging is against our worldview, and offensive to our Creator.SO, what to do? In 2020, Jim Rieffenberger joined with our very own Jeff Gould (America's Storyteller) to create a great resource for parenting...Father's Wisdom. This series of 47 short audio stories applies Godly wisdom to many of life's practical challenges.GUEST: Jim Rieffenberger“Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” —Proverbs 13:10
Part of having a BASED worldview is utilizing a vocabulary that is biblical, truthful and absolutely fearless. Sin, taboo, perverse, meek, and providence are some of the words and concepts that seem to have been erased from our American non-church lingo. In this episode we discuss the value in bringing them back into our lexicon.“Therefore encourage one another with these words.” — 1 Thessalonians 4
As we shake our heads at the tyranny of the Canadian government, most of us don't even know the half of it.Trudeau and his cohort of maniacal busybody bureaucrats have their collective boot on the neck of the Church, and our new friend Andrew is one of the very, very few brave Christian leaders who are prepared to continue resisting their tyrannical overlords who want nothing less than absolute control over every word preached from the pulpit.GUESTSPastor Andrew DeBartolo and Adam Brown‘'Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God." — John Knox
This is a subject no one wants to talk about. There are not only many loved ones left wondering "why, why, why!?", but there even more people you know (perhaps even yourself ) who are struggling with the demonic pull—the voice that tells you that the world would “better off without you in it.”This is a lie from the Evil One, but that voice can sound just like our own voice. Brad Hearst with Survivors Joining for Hope has committed his life to helping those who've been scarred by suicide, and is asking folks to be aware of the possible threat in their own lives. To help prevent someone you love from choosing a permanent solution to a temporary problem.Guest:Brad Hearst”So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them.” —Genesis 1:27
Who wants to go to work?!Unfortunately, the events of the past few years have had a negative effect on Americans' work ethic. Some speculate that it's a direct result in the insidious influence of applied Marxism. Some say it's a general malaise or a creeping nihilism that has infected the youth through the constant drip of the social media cesspool leakage media doom spreading. In this episode, we discuss what is looking like an epidemic: There simply are not enough young people in the job market with a strong work ethic. What to do…?“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." —Colossians 3:23
Youth sports, for many parents, becomes an all-consuming obsession into which they invest meaningful amounts of time, money and emotional energy, leading to idolatry.Coach Carl Teer founded CYAL (Christian Youth Activity League) at the urging of the Holy Spirit. His faithful service to this mission has allowed him to create opportunities for hundreds of local kids to experience Christ centered youth sports. WINNING is about more than numbers on a scoreboard.Guest:Coach Carl Teer“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” —Ephesians 6:4
"Like a city that is broken into and without walls is a man who has no control over his own spirit." — Proverbs 25One of Satan's most effective tools is the use of envy and greed, the twin destroyers of divine contentment and thankfulness. In this episode, we encourage men to adjust their "operating system" to thwart the enemy and see God's will for our journey.Teach your sons to adopt this rule: you do not have the RIGHT to look at a woman/girl's nakedness, EVEN IF she offers it.PORN: a lie that re-wires the brain, leading to depression and erectile dysfunction."Their end is destruction, their God is their belly and they glory in their shame." — Philippians 3:19-21

Storytelling is humanity's greatest mentoring tool, and our favorite source of entertainment.Jesus told stories (parables) to answer some of life's most profound questions.Unfortunately, our modern purveyors of stories (Hollyweird) are peddling amoral nihilistic trash that surely must be offensive to our Creator. What to do?Our guest, Marcus Pittman, and his talented team aims to answer that call; and have created LOOR.tv to provide deep, realistic, edgy content to satisfy our need for storytelling, without offending the God we serve."Christian movies shouldn't suck" is their motto. Ladies, do you wish your man would grill more often? Or less, due to his lack of grill skills?God gave us dominion over all the creatures of the earth, ESPECIALLY THE TASTY ONES. In this conversation Jeff is shocked to learn that the current World Champion of BBQ is a South Dakota local by the name of Travis Duffy, who along with our guest Willie, teaches local folks some valuable grill hacks through the Pitmasters Club, which meets once a month, at Fireplace Pros.GUEST: Willie Bertsch, Doctor of GrillologySPONSOR: Fireplace Pros/BBQ HeavenGod blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.” —Genesis 1:28
Dr. Allen Unruh, possibly the most Based Man in the Heartland, covers the gamut of based issues of our day.38 years ago, Dr. Unruh and his wife Leslee started a crisis pregnancy center called The Alpha Center, which has helped provide services to thousands of young moms (and dads) while bravely putting themselves in the direct line of fire of the abortion industry. Do you feel like the modern Church is molding "love bunnies" instead of "lions"? Gabe Rensch, founder of CrossPolitic and the Fight Laugh Feast Club explains to us what it means to be a "rowdy christian" and confront our trash culture with a joyful spirit; how leftists use “jamming” to confound believers; the return of the patriarchy, and how the feminist movement is corrupting the church and society. Gabe shocks the world with his take on women voting (he's against it), causing at least one of us to wonder, “is The Waterboy TOO BASED for The Based Podcast?”Guest:Gabe Rensch aka “The Waterboy”“You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” — John 8:44“Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” – Luke 10:19
Men are hardwired for competition and battle. Most of us tap into that part of our nature by becoming fanatics of specific sports teams. For many of us, these “hobbies” can take up way too much space in our minds and souls, making us deaf to the voice of God. In this discussion, we hammer out "operating system" hacks to put sports in its proper place.Sports is “just a TV show” is a good mantra to put into your brain, so that eventually one can watch and enjoy sports without the outcome making that much of a difference to one's demeanor.“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.” — Romans 12:2
We talk to local veteran, under 40, business starter, mover and shaker, and genuinely interesting BASED man Adam Long. Our conversation covers a variety of topics confronting the modern Christian man ranging from being a "Lone Wolf" to keeping one's attitude in check when dealing with robotic bureaucrats. Adam shares his fascinating story from his time in the military fighting the drug war, getting his leg crushed, and then making what ended up being the most consequential decision of his life!Guests: Adam LongSponsor: I Like That Story"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. If we had a time machine, how would we go back and tweak some things to correct our mistakes, be it in attitudes or behaviors. By sharing the stories of people at the end of their lives, with younger folks, we hope to help them avoid some of the big ones.“When the modern world says ‘you may be religious when you're alone', it adds under its breath ‘and I see to it that you are never alone'”. — C.S. This discussion zeroes in on the myriad of ways that modern man wastes time, energy and emotion of endeavors that serve to separate us from the voice of God. FOMO, the Circle of Trust, Facebook oversharing, and "sportsball" are all covered here.“Let nothing be done in strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem each other better than themselves.” — Philippians 2:3
In our premiere, Jeff Gould (America's Storyteller) and Chris Larson provide a little background on their journeys that have led them to this place and time, in which they both have felt the hand of God directing them to share stories, pursue fundamental truths and apply a template to the lives of Modern Man that both asks the question “What are you Based on?” and urges the professing Christian to base their life on the Word of God. Our show is based in the Heartland (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), and we will be featuring local guests that have interesting stories to tell. By God's providence, we shall endeavor to dispel the fog of modern propaganda and manipulations — lighting a path forward using storytelling as a means of sense-making in our world seemingly gone mad.“Wisdom is far more valuable than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with it.” — Proverbs 8:11
