Wells's masterpiece, The Time Machine.Step into a cozy, dimly lit Victorian dining room where a group of friends gathers after dinner. As the fire burns brightly and the room fills with the soft, hypnotic hum of philosophical debate, you will witness the demonstration of a delicate model mechanism made of ivory, brass, and translucent crystal. In this episode, Georgie explores why you can be a capable, composed woman one moment - and feel like a small, frightened child the next. You know your boss probably isn't angry. You know, logically, that you've done nothing wrong. And yet your whole system floods with that old, sinking sense of being in trouble. Georgie unpacks what's actually happening: in those moments, your subconscious mind time travels you back to a younger version of yourself - one who once learned to believe something painful about who she is. It isn't a flaw in your character or a lack of willpower. It's an old emotional memory being switched back on by a present-day cue, and your nervous system responding as though the past is happening now. You'll learn how to recognise when you've slipped into that younger self and why reassurance from your thinking mind alone rarely lands.

We're up to the early 1880s where world events are intersecting in various ways with southern African events. The mere ratification of the Pretoria Convention in 1881 failed to bring peace and prosperity to South Africa. The frenzied speculation in diamond shares reached it's height in 1881, and war expenditure had swelled the tide of fictitious prosperity which had flowed from Table Bay to Lydenburg. Now the troops and the glory departed, Natal after the pomp and ceremony of the Wolseley period, drifted into a political backwater — and yet clamoured for responsible government and an augmented imperial garrison. In the Cape, the overcapitalised diamond companies began to topple, and banks shortened credit and in 1882, the crash came. John Scanlen the Cape Prime Minister succumbed to what some called retrenchment mania and laid off judges amongst other members of the bureaucracy. Times were bad, and growing worse, with Phylloxera visiting the Western Cape vineyards, drought had smote the land and red-water fever the cattle. It was old testament level pestilence and suffering, at least if you read the journals of the time. Did I mention the outbreak of smallpox as well? How remiss. It scoured Cape Town first, this pestilence, from whence it followed the railway and wagon route to the diamond fields of Kimberley, and from there into the Orange Free State and Basotholand. Plagues of locusts chewed through what was left. For anyone who would return to an earlier epoch in South African history, believing these were golden years, perhaps the reality I've just outlined would make you recalibrate your Time Machine. SJ Du Toit launched his pro-Afrikaans campaign by the early 1880s, railing against die Engelse and the elites in the Cape who were determined to keep speaking high Dutch instead of this new form which was disparagingly called Kitchen Dutch. Emerging at this messy moment to influence South Africa forever was a lawyer who eventually became known as Lord De Villiers. It's difficult to understand this these days — in the 1880s South Africa was still a mishmash of rebels, settlers, African chiefdoms, Khoesan raiders, dirt tracker miners and trekboers, wild Baltic and Nordic merchants, American and Australian frontiersmen. Every geographical locale was represented by a different language so folks like De Villiers who obsessed over federal ideas were outliers. Self-government meant they leaned towards the Union Jack, the English, for defence, but not the Union Jack as a cloak for interference in the internal affairs of the Cape. The quarrels divided the Anglican community particularly in Natal into adherents of the Church of England, and the Church of the Province of South Africa. The two main questions were these: Must Anglican Bishops in South Africa be appointed by Letters consecrated by the Archbishop of Centebury, and secondly, was the Church in South Africa bound by acts of an Imperial Parliament in England far far away or mainly independent? De Villiers was going to decide both questions — and in doing so — would set the scene for a future South African Republic while also setting in stone, some of our concepts in South Africa of the right to practice the religion we prefer.
Welcome back everyone to another lovely episode, this week we partake in our inaugural episode of our new feature "Hot Riff Time Machine" where we look back at a year in musical history and chat about some of the albums we loved from that year we decided to look at 2011 as our first foray - this was picked completely randomly but worked out pretty well as it was actually the year that Sonny and Gary became best friends! we looked at 3 albums that we each loved from that year, a couple of records we hated, Sonny found a VERY strange record from that year and then we also took suggestions from the lovely folks over in the Discord if you want to be part of the fun for the next episode maybe join the Discord! and if you wanna support the show follow us on one of the many annoying and stupid social media platforms that exist or hit subscribe on your podcast catcher of choice (or check out our Youtube page which is currently a bit on the dormant side but will be re-invigorated soon!) thanks, love you all x Join the Discord! It's full of people sharing sick heavy music all the time.

Dave, Barry, Tod and Brian traveled to Louisville, Kentucky for Wonderfest, the annual model making show that's a celebration of model making, creativity and nostalgia. The event is more than a "model making" show and the guys give you a full run down of the weekend including the dealers rooms, what we each entered into the contest and how we did, our favorite models, the guest we met and so much more! We also discuss the Time Machine that was the recreation of the Van Nuys ILM model shop from 1976, complete with sights, sounds and smells of the model shop when they were making Star Wars! Brian and Tod even took a side quest to the Louisville Slugger baseball bat factory (yes, sports ball gets discussed on the show!). Movie Reviews #618 movies to review today so Autobots rollout.1 (Wanda 1970) here we have a Writer, director, and actor with no money kicking ass. Her name is Barbara Loden, and we had all never seen this movie before, a buried early feminist film finally unearthed, and by Criterion who has been quick to resurrect some crud like that Nazi porn film, and leave a lot of the women, people of color and other marginalized groups films still on my list buried. So, more like this Criterion and thank you.2 (See the man Run 1971) I did the write up for this and I now have no memory of this film, lemme grab my notes. Oh yeah I dug this one, it's just got one of those dumb vague titles. Here is a plot for me that is NOT Freebox. Angie Dickenson, Robert Culp and Eddie Albert star in this, and you can and should watch it right now on the youtubes. It refreshingly has a plot and also has some odd acting choices and 70's insanity that this cat craves.3 (Man on a String 1972) Joseph Sargent directed this. He directed many 70's movies that we love annnnnnd this. Kitty Winn, Jack Warden and a bunch of white guys that look alarmingly alike are here in this movie where this sharp shooter makes an impossible shot because he is impossibly, that good.4 (Play it as it Lays 1972) Here we have another film by director Frank Perry that for me, knocks my socks off, I had no idea it was gonna go where it goes. Film is based on Joan Didion's book, great, I have been so behind on books I need to read since I got my first iPhone, damn!5 (The Man who could Talk to Kids 1973) Oh my Mr. Brady and the doctor from Jaws 2 are parents that are struggling with what the film calls, their emotionally disturbed Son, so they find a guy who can “talk to kids”. Important subject that we liked save the fact that the “guy” is just a guy that they let take their son and go wherever. When I get my Time Machine, it will be on my list to find the writer and add at least one degree to this “guy” who talks to kids and NOT have him say, it's just a hobby.6 (Watched 1974) Not as good as the bootleg dvd box says it is, but for me it was worth a watch. Stacy Keach and his mates seem to have a lil time, some film equipment, and maybe some drugs, let's make a movie. Why not?!7 (News from Home 1976) Here we have a Rad Feminist writer and director Chantell Ackerman, who's Belgian film Quai Du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles we really liked and were moved by. Here, let's just say this is mollases ass slow. She films New York doin nothing and reads an occasional letter from her Mother.8 (Cotton Candy 1979) Here is a made for tv movie I saw when it aired at 8 years old. It's about friends forming a band. Even then I knew it was corny, but that I also wanted to someday be in a band. When I meet Clint Howard I want him to sign his poster from this.Hey as always, thanks for listening friends. Maybe give us all the stars and write a review, thank you.
Subscribe to get the free guide: The 5 Relational Patterns That Are Quietly Killing Your ConnectionYou start arguing about something small. And then somehow, a few minutes in, you're not talking about tonight anymore. You're talking about something that happened three years ago. That's the time machine. And if it keeps happening, it's not because you're petty or stuck. It's because something real happened that never fully repaired. The present keeps disappearing because something in the past never got what it actually needed. And until that old wound gets real repair, not just an apology, it will keep surfacing every time something pokes at it.In this episode:* Understand why the same fight keeps repeating and what it's actually telling you about an unresolved wound underneath* Recognize the moment the time machine activates so you can name it before the whole relationship history ends up on trial* Learn the difference between an apology and real repair, and why one keeps the wound openThis is episode 5 of 5. Many of us think of the Bible as a book written in Hebrew and Greek, overlooking the important role of Aramaic—the lingua franca of much of the ancient Near East. In this episode, Helen and Lloyd climb into the Time Machine with Tawny Holm, one of the world's leading experts on Aramaic, to explore the language's history, literature, and cultural significance. Who spoke and wrote Aramaic? What kinds of texts were composed in it? And how can Aramaic literature beyond the Bible help us better understand the Aramaic passages within it?Tawny M. Holm is Professor of Hebrew and Aramaic Studies at Penn State University. Her main research areas are the Hebrew Bible in its Ancient Near Eastern context, early Judaism and Aramaic studies. She is the author of Of Courtiers and Kings: The Biblical Daniel Narratives and Ancient-Story Collections (Eisenbrauns, 2013), and, most recently, Aramaic Literature from Egypt and the Levant, published in May 2026 in SBL's series, Writings from the Ancient World (Volume 30). June 1 2026 - It's a new month and a new week....welcome to the first show of June 2026! We recap the weekend, discuss no longer being empty nesters, the Dish, Dad Joke, Time Machine and more!
Greg and Dane continue their 2010 TNA look as they watch Sacrifice 2010 as RVD defends the TNA World Title against AJ Styles. We get the never-ending saga of Orlando Jordan vs. Rob Terry, Sting beating the crap out of Double J, and Eric Young being a member of The Band. We also get Ric Flair going nuts on commentary so that's a win! NOTE: We recorded this episode before this past weekend's AAA live event. We will discuss the Main Event from that show at the start of the next episode.

Tonight, we're getting in the Time Machine once again, and going back to March 19, 2004, continuing our journey to revisit the very first season of what was then known as ParaReality Radio. This episode is all about the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is the largest Native American tribe east of the Mississippi River, with over 60,000 enrolled members. Centered in Robeson, Hoke, Cumberland, and Scotland counties, their cultural and political headquarters are located in Pembroke, NC. On this episode, I'll introduce you to the Lumbees and tell you what makes them special. There are rumors that they are descendants from the Lost Colony of Roanoke. Is this true? What is the evidence? To learn more, you'll need to Turn On, Tune In & Find Out! Here is Season 1, Episode 7: The Lumbee Indians. Originally airing on March 19, 2004 on Live365. Breathe Pictures Photography Podcast: Documentaries and Interviews
This week on The Photowalk podcast, I'm joined by photographer and collector Tim Rice, whose remarkable archive of cameras, lenses, film stocks and photographic memorabilia has become something of a museum dedicated to photography's past. From rare equipment to historically important oddities, we talk about the stories attached to the machines that once documented the world. Also returning to the show is independent curator and photography historian Hilary Roberts, former Head Curator of Photography at the Imperial War Museums, as we explore the idea of curation through photographs, archives, memory and history. In the mailbag, Phil Ferris writes from Oregon reflecting on place, stillness and impermanence before returning home to Cornwall, Don Ridgway follows the ancient stone circles of Britain and Tyler Cahoon shares thoughts from his Camino walk between Porto and Santiago, where photography became less about documenting others and more about understanding himself. There's also the return of The Photo Assignment, plus news about the launch of the very first Photowalk zine, REFLECTIONS. Read more about our photographic adventures on our photography travel website, The Journey Beyond. Links to all guests and features will be on the show page, my sincere thanks to our Extra Milers, without whom we wouldn't be walking each week and Arthelper.ai, giving photographers smart tools to plan, promote, and manage your creative projects more easily.
“A Point of Time”: When a 90-year-old physicist is dragged away by the secret police of a dystopian regime, his frail sister pays a "harmless" visit to the dictator who ordered the arrest — armed with a single handshake that could rewrite history itself.Look for this podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, Amazon Music, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, and other podcast apps. Philadelphia shares how she loves to lift her spirits with a good miscellany. While Gage and Jessica are impressed by the praise poured on William Shakespeare by someone from Philadelphia's time.
It's the end of the 2010 Monday Night Wars on the SCTM, and TNA's attempt at going head-to-head with RAW ends not with a bang but with a whimper. But we do get the start of the Ric Flair/Jay Lethal feud and finally see some emotion from Chelsea, so that's a plus!
Jon Westfall and I were joined by frequent guest panelists Frank McPherson, and Sven Johannsen to discuss the announcements from the recent "Gemini I/O" and Android shows. I kicked off the episode with a real-world tech success story: the Google app on my Pixel devices provided a magnitude and epicenter alert for a 6.0 earthquake in Hawaii that occurred 200 miles away. I felt a relatively mild rumble but thought it was a feral pig bumping the side of my home. Much of our hardware discussion focused on the Google Book, a premium AI-first device running the "Aluminium" (Android-based) OS. We speculated that Google is positioning this to compete with the high-demand MacBook Neo, which is currently so popular that rumors suggest Apple may release a spec-bumped "Neo 2" to address chip shortages and stay ahead of the competition. On the software and AI front, we looked ahead to Android 17 and its new "Rambler" feature for Gboard, which uses AI to filter out "ums" and "ahs" from voice transcriptions. I shared my experience with Gemini Pro's voice cloning, which was "scary good" at mimicking my voice with minimal training, while Frank voiced skepticism about Wear OS 7 replacing tiles with widgets, fearing it's a step backward for round-screen usability. The episode also served as a warning about the dangers of auto-updates; Jon shared how a Ubiquiti router update broke his HomeKit setup—requiring an SSH command to fix—and I recounted a corrupt OneDrive for Mac update that forced me to roll back to its previous version using Time Machine. We wrapped up with a demonstration from Sven, who demonstrated his new Pixel Fold 10's unique feature in Google Meet that allows for a split-view using the front and back cameras simultaneously. This "double-vision" mode allows a caller to show their face while also providing a high-resolution view of their surroundings, which we agreed would be a game-changer for remote tech support or traveling. d there is still plenty of innovation happening in the Android ecosystem.

Pastor(s) Jared and Caleb discuss an NBC article surveying Gen Z adults, indicating that a majority of them would prefer to go back to the recent past to live their lives.
Philadelphia tells a tale of overcoming her very own sweating sickness ordeal. Gage and Jessica speculate as to whether the sickness was really a hantavirus similar to that of today. Or even perhaps something less dramatic.
