Exorcisms on the big screen are terrifying – but what did exorcisms mean in first-century Palestine? Join Helen and Lloyd in the Biblical Time Machine as they uncover the strange world of Greek magical papyri, the Dead Sea Scrolls and charismatic figures viewed as magicians. Joining them in the Time Machine is Professor Graham Twelftree, a leading Jesus historian, who argues that Jesus was perceived in his own lifetime as an exorcist. Graham H. Tonight, for our monthly Snoozecast+ Deluxe bonus sleep story, we'll read the opening to Mark Twain's “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court” published in 1889. While we at Snoozecast adore ALL our listeners equally, our monthly bonus episodes like this one are specifically made for our Snoozecast+ Deluxe premium subscribers. If you are not a Deluxe subscriber, you will here a trimmed version of the story. To learn more about our 2 premium subscription options, go to snoozecast.com/plus. As a non-Deluxe listener, Tonight's satirical novel tells the story of Hank Morgan, a 19th-century engineer from Hartford, Connecticut, who, after a blow to the head, finds himself transported back in time to the England of King Arthur. The book was one of the earliest major works of time-travel fiction, predating H. G. Wells' The Time Machine by six years. At the same time, it sat firmly in Twain's style: humorous, biting, and rooted in American sensibilities. Though filled with fantastical elements like knights, castles, and magic, the story is just as much a sharp social commentary as it is an adventure. When first published, the novel stirred controversy for its irreverent treatment of Arthurian legend, but over time it has come to be recognized as a clever and influential blend of satire, science fiction, and historical fantasy. — read by 'V' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus! Philadelphia takes great pleasure in chiding those around her that don't live up to her standards. Gage and Jessica love this week's word but they strive to stay clear of Philadelphia's chidings.
Episode 100 - It's our 100th episode! And in classic MRAC fashion we lost track and forgot which episode we were on and it went unmentioned other than in the outtakes at the end when we talk about how it was last week. Either way, we are doing out usual thing and talking film. This is week 2 of Original Sci-Fi films that have been re-did. We watched and discussed The Time Machine (1960), a movie based on an HG Wells story about a man in the turn of 20th century who travels forward in time. Join us for the fun, and even though we haven't seen the remake we implore you to watch the original!email us at mracfilmclub@gmail.com
Before streaming queues and social media hot takes, there were daytime talk shows—messy, emotional, and totally addictive. In this episode, we take a nostalgic trip back to the golden age of daytime TV, from Oprah's iconic interviews to Jerry Springer's flying chairs. We explore how these shows shaped pop culture, family dynamics, and our after-school routines.

For 30 minutes, step inside the sound of Los Angeles radio in the 1980s. Hear authentic broadcasts from Power 106 in 1987 and KIIS FM in 1989, complete with legendary personalities, commercials, traffic, and sports — exactly as they went out over the air. This special tribute is dedicated to the jocks who shaped the magic of 80s radio, the very voices that inspired Toscano and Chang to step behind the mic. And the biggest news? Back to the 80s Radio officially launches a brand-new 24/7 station this Halloween, featuring over 10,000 songs in rotation. Episode 99 - It's a new month here at MRAC, and for September Pete is bringing us the OG version of classic sci-fi films that have been re-did... or remade. For week 1 we watched and discussed The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951), a classic science fiction film about an alien that comes to earth with his giant robot friend to warn the earthlings about their behavior. After some nerding out on the accuracy of the science in this 1950's work of fiction, we get into this one. And as always we encourage you to skip the remake and watch the OG. Tune in soon for week 2 where we watched and discussed The Time Machine (1960)email us at mracfilmclub@gmail.com

In part 1 of the season finale, Henry's time machine malfunctions and rewinds to its previous locations, while Henry uses the help from dinosaurs to defeat the tracker-bots throughout time.
Luke and Matt are back aboard their TV Time Machine, heading to September 2000. FOX has a new anarchic family sitcom in Malcolm in the Middle, which is hugely significant as it gives us Bryan Cranston. Rob Brydon makes his debut as a taxi driver recalling the breakup of his marriage in the truly superb short-form comedy Marion & Geoff. On Channel 4, a fresh-faced comic, Ricky Gervais, gets his own chat show, Meet Ricky Gervais which feels like an awkward hybrid between So Graham Norton and The Larry Sanders Show which sadly doesn't work. Also on Channel 4, Dylan Moran's cult comedy Black Books, which brought together Bill Bailey and Tamsin Grieg as a strange found family. Lastly, Channel 4 also has Faking it, which takes a Yorkshire women and attempts to turn into a posh girl.
Fire up the Time Machine, people—Dave and Milt are going full throttle back to '75, and it's a funky, feathered-hair free-for-all. On this Past Tens episode, your fearless hosts trash-talk, gush, and generally geek out over Billboard's Top 10 from September 27, 1975. Bad Company growls, Sweet glitters, and somewhere in there Dave derails the whole thing with a personal “I almost died in a hospital gown” story. Milt, ever the Chartmeister historian, connects the dots between these jams and the cultural circus of the mid-'70s, while Dave sprinkles in snarky asides, dad jokes, and a rant or two about sandwiches. They bounce between rock, funk, country, and schmaltz, drop a few under-the-radar nuggets, and even debate whether Glen Campbell's Broadway references were about, y'know… actual Broadway. Then it's Playdate time: Dave throws down a Generation X Rock Hall challenge that makes Milt sweat. By the end, they're arguing about whether this whole lineup deserves a permanent plaque in the Time Machine Hall of Fame—or just a polite golf clap. fWotD Episode 3058: Alicia (album) Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Thursday, 18 September 2025, is Alicia (album).Alicia is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter and pianist Alicia Keys. It was primarily recorded at Oven Studios and Jungle City Studios, both in New York, after her 2016 album Here and her judgeship on the singing competition series The Voice, before being released by RCA Records on September 18, 2020. Written and produced largely by Keys, the album also features songwriting and production contributions from Swizz Beatz, Ryan Tedder, Johnny McDaid, Ed Sheeran, and The-Dream, among others. Keys collaborated with more artists on the recording than in her previous albums, enlisting vocalists such as Sampha, Tierra Whack, Diamond Platnumz, Snoh Aalegra, and Jill Scott for certain tracks.Alicia's mostly low-tempo and melodically subtle music reconciles the experimental direction of Here with her earlier work's bass drum-driven R&B and piano-based balladry. Throughout, individual songs incorporate sounds from a wide range of other genres, including orchestral pop, progressive soul, funk, ambient, country, and Caribbean music. Thematically, they explore identity as a multifaceted concept, sociopolitical concerns, and forms of love within the framework of impressionistic lyrics, personal narratives, and self-knowledge. Keys has described the album as therapeutic and reflective of greater introspection in herself, expressing ideas and feelings of hope, frustration, despair, ambivalence, and equanimity shared in her memoir More Myself (2020), which was written during Alicia's recording. The album was originally scheduled to be released on March 20, 2020, then May 15, before being delayed indefinitely in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was marketed with an extended traditional rollout campaign that featured various media appearances by Keys and the release of seven singles, including the Miguel duet "Show Me Love", "Time Machine", "Underdog", and "So Done" (with Khalid). After a surprise announcement of its impending release in September, Alicia debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 in its first week and became Keys' eighth top-10 record in the US, while charting in the top 10 in several other countries. However, it fell off the US chart a few weeks later.A critical success, Alicia received praise for Keys' nuanced vocal performances and the music's broad appeal, while her thematic messages were considered balanced, healing, and timely against the backdrop of unfolding world events. The singles "Good Job" and "Perfect Way to Die" resonated especially with the importance of essential workers during the pandemic and with the 2020–2021 racial unrest over police brutality in the US, respectively. The album also won the Grammy Award for Best Immersive Audio Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards. In further support of the album, Keys performed in concert from June to November 2022 and in May 2023 on the Alicia + Keys World Tour, which had been postponed from 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:52 UTC on Thursday, 18 September 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Alicia (album) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm standard Kendra.

“If I knew then, what I know now.” It's a common thought, musing on what we would do if we had the chance, the means, the opportunity to go back in time and shape our experience. So our host shares his thoughts on how he might shape his journey in the Martial Arts, what would he add to the mix? What would he subtract? And what would he leave as is? We had ECW One Night Stand from WWE in 2005, and then WWE did it again in 2006, followed by the blah revival of ECW, so when most of the OG ECW roster jumps from WWE to TNA by 2010, what happens? Dixie Carter decides she'll have her own One Night Stand! WITH BLACKJACK! AND HOOKERS! Greg and Dane look at TNA Hardcore Justice 2010, where they go over dance-offs with the Full Blooded Italians, Raven and Tommy Dreamer having the most cringe hardcore match ever, a lightsaber fight and RVD facing Sabu in the Main Event! Be sure to thank Dixie for this episode everybody, because this wouldn't be possible without her (heavy sarcasm).

Milt and Dave fired up the Time Machine and landed smack in September of 1991, when mullets were plentiful and Blockbuster late fees could bankrupt you. We're running down the box-office champs—from Arnold blowing stuff up in Terminator 2 to Billy Crystal roping cattle in City Slickers, with pit stops at Woody Harrelson's baby-faced cameo in Doc Hollywood and the horror sequels nobody really asked for. Along the way, we: Trade war stories about seeing these flicks in sticky-floored theaters. Act out scenes like idiots (you're welcome). Dish out Rotten Tomatoes scores and wildly unfair judgments. Wonder aloud why The Commitments still slaps and why Dead Again deserved more love. Debate whether Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is epic or just Kevin Costner cosplaying with a bad accent. And yes—some of these movies aged like fine wine (T2), while others… let's just say they've turned to vinegar (Child's Play 3, I'm looking at you). Episode Breakdown 00:00 – Bickering & Banter 01:19 – Dave apologizes for… something. Again. 02:17 – Nostalgia bomb: our '91 movie memories 03:56 – The countdown begins 07:20 – The Commitments review 17:27 – Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves 27:44 – City Slickers 38:40 – The Doctor 45:47 – Child's Play 3 (spoiler: nope) 47:03 – Box office chatter & that weird UK crime link 51:40 – Doc Hollywood + baby Woody Harrelson 58:25 – Hot Shots! (Charlie Sheen's golden era) 01:08:10 – Terminator 2 drops the hammer 01:16:40 – Dead Again review 01:23:09 – Freddy's Dead autopsy 01:31:28 – Winner of the Week & closing thoughts It's loud, it's nostalgic, it's a little snarky—just another ride in the Top 10 Time Machine.
Back on 1st June this summer, the Woven in Kirklees Festival kicked off with World Stitch Day at Oakwell Hall in Batley. Among the attractions of stalls from local community groups, textile artists, workshops and an interactive fabric 'Time Machine' was The Red Dress on display in West Yorkshire for the first time. The Red Dress is an award winning collaborative embroidery project which was conceived by the British artist Kirstie Macleod. It took 14 years to complete and features the work of 380 embroiderers from 51 different countries, many of whom come from marginalised communities. The dress is currently in the middle of a global tour and was on display for the whole of June at Oakwell Hall in Birstall. The 'Woven in Kirklees' textiles festival first launched in 2019. The community festival celebrates all kinds of textiles and related crafts with yarn bombs, textile art exhibitions, workshops and talks. The biennial festival runs for a whole month and this year had 130 different events happening throughout June. Initiated in 2019 by Kirklees Council, the festival "is owned by everyone, including community groups, textile businesses, cultural and educational organisations, artists and heritage sites across the district".I went along to World Stitch Day and spoke to a number of the exhibitors, the festival's curator, Nat Walton as well as Kirstie Macleod about the amazing Red Dress. Jeremy Au explored why venture capitalists hunt unicorns and how Southeast Asia fits into this global race. He discussed the Asia Partners golden age thesis, the importance of technology stack progression, and how localization shapes billion dollar outcomes. The conversation compared the US, China, India, and Southeast Asia, broke down country strategies, and examined how ideas migrate across ecosystems. 03:10 Golden Age Thesis: Asia Partners argues Southeast Asia is entering a golden age as GDP growth enables tech ecosystems to flourish. 06:00 Technology Stack and Localization: China sped through decades of development, while Southeast Asia companies like Grab had to adapt ride hailing to local gaps such as drivers without smartphones. 09:20 Copy and Localize Models: Founders replicate proven ideas such as Uber or e commerce while tailoring them to Southeast Asia's conditions. 12:15 Fragmented Markets: Southeast Asia is not a single region but a patchwork of cities and countries, making scaling strategies complex. 14:10 Three Paths to Unicorns: Indonesia only giants such as GoJek, regional players like Ninja Van and Shopee, and Vietnam conglomerates like VNG. The Time Machine is back... with some changes! Join Helen and her new co-host, ancient history Prof. Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones, as they discuss what they're working on at the moment: everything from ancient Babylon, the Hittites and Persia's first lady to ancient 'lives' and the historical Mary. They are also joined by the show's new researcher and producer, Dr John Nelson. They explore John's research on the absence of a physical description of Jesus in the Gospels, and ask how Jesus came to acquire the familiar appearance he has today.
