Most of us are socialized to believe that if we suffer enough, we'll be rewarded later—and the reward for our suffering will be happiness. In other words, happiness is something we must earn through suffering. In this episode of Bewildered, Martha and Ro challenge this cultural belief, inspired by the words of 14th century mystic St. Catherine of Siena who said, “All the way to heaven is heaven.” To hear more about this idea—and how you can experience happiness right now—don't miss the full episode! Richard Hopkins delves into the question of whether Jesus is the sole path to heaven, emphasizing its significance and providing biblical backing. He addresses potential doubts and discomfort around this belief while stressing the importance of sharing and understanding it. The sermon highlights believers' responsibility in spreading the gospel and explores the implications of not accepting Jesus as the exclusive means to heaven. In conclusion, listeners are urged to make a personal decision regarding their faith in Jesus as the sole avenue to eternal life.
In this week's episode, we're answering the questions, "Is Jesus the Only Way to Get to Heaven?" and "If someone has never heard about Jesus, so they haven't had the chance to accept or reject Him, dies, will they go to heaven?"A survey was done recently among Americans about what they believe about heaven. In this survey, these people were asked:Do you believe in Heaven? 73% said yes.Do you believe you are going to heaven? 60% said yes.How does someone get to heaven? 50% said that if you are generally good or you do enough good for others, you will earn a place in heaven.40% said that you don't have to believe in God to go to heaven. On top of this survey, a couple years ago a pastor at a church in New York told his congregation that the belief that anyone who doesn't believe in Jesus is going to hell is insanity. He then went on to say that's not even what Jesus believed. He then went on to say that many people take many paths to get to God. But is what this New York pastor saying true? The short answer, no. He is deceived and sadly leading many people away from God not toward God. John 14:1-6 says and this is Jesus speaking, "“Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me (Jesus). There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” “No, we don't know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me." If these are the words that came right out of Jesus' mouth himself, how ca n this pastor claim that Jesus did not believe this as Truth. It's a lie and deceptive. Jesus is the only way because He's the only One who took our sins, replaced our sins with His perfect life and all we have to do is receive this free gift that He gives us! It's that easy. Every religion on this planet says that we have to do all the work. We have to live the best life possible and then when we die, we present our life to a god and ask, “will you accept it?” With Christianity, Jesus did all of the work for us, presents His life to us and asks us, will we accept Him?” It seems too good to be true, but that's how much our Heavenly Father loves us! Folks there will be NO excuses for anyone on Judgment day BECAUSE the SCRIPTURES are so readily available for people to understand these things. WHO CARES what anybody else thinks? "As we suffer, Jesus is the One who steps in to comfort us. What god in the history of gods was willing to enter into the physical reality of the human experience? Our God alone. Jesus willingly walked this earth, experiencing every pain, loss, betrayal, and heartbreak we feel. As the late Tim Keller once said: 'Jesus Christ did not suffer so that you would not suffer. He suffered so that when you suffer, you'll become more like him. The gospel does not promise you better life circumstances; it promises you a better life.'"Leave a comment for Jennifer: https://incourage.me/?p=234631--Whether navigating political or religious differences, dealing with toxic people or our own unforgiveness, our book Come Sit with Me tackles the struggles no one really wants to talk about. Is Jesus really the only way to heaven? Imagine asking that question on the evening news! Although everyone has an opinion, it's God's answer that matters. In fact, the Bible has a question that is far more basic—and it's the better place to begin. In this episode of Live the Bible, we'll answer these important questions and why the answer is really good news.Support the show
Being humans, we like to be independent. We want to go our own way. We'll drive lost, trying to figure out how to get to a destination, refusing to stop and ask for directions. Sadly, many journey through life, never arriving at the destination they hoped to see. Our eternity is too important. We can't hope to arrive there someday. We can't rely on our own instincts to get us to Heaven. I've heard people say, “I'm trying to be a good person. I think I'll be alright in the end.”Main Points:1. Since Heaven is a city built by God, we must let Him inform us as to how we can get there. Thankfully, in His Word, He has made it clear. In the Bible, we are informed there is only one road to Heaven, not many roads, and certainly not just any road of our choosing. 2. Where you are wanting to go, there is only one way to get there. Salvation and forgiveness of our sins is only found in Jesus. It's only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. It's only through Jesus that we find the doorway to Heaven.3. The Bible doesn't leave us with vague, unclear directions. The path is marked out for us and its crystal clear. There is only one road to Heaven. It is found through faith in Jesus Christ, as we make Him our Savior and Lord. Today's Scripture Verses:Acts 4:12 - "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”1 John 5:13 - “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”Quick Links:Subscribe to The 5 Minute Discipleship NewsletterDonate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group5 Minute Discipleship on Instagram
