The Hearth of Sap Bush Hollow podcast is truly a gem that I stumbled upon and instantly fell in love with. From the moment I started listening, I was hooked and ended up binge-listening to all of the episodes within two weeks. I initially discovered the author through the Homestead family summit, and I am so grateful that I did because these podcasts have brought me such peace throughout my day.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is how it provides a sense of peace and solitude. The author's soothing voice mixed with sage advice found in her tales of a more simple life on the farm is incredibly calming and inspiring. She talks about family in a way that makes you feel like you know them personally, creating a deep connection with her listeners. It's also worth mentioning that the author's book, "Redefining Rich," is available as an audiobook, which adds another layer of enjoyment for fans.
Another great aspect of this podcast is its length - short and sweet. While some may wish for longer episodes, the concise nature allows for quick listens during moments of relaxation or while sipping your morning coffee. The content is dense enough to leave an impact but brief enough to fit into your busy schedule.
While there aren't many negative aspects to highlight about this podcast, one possible downside could be wanting more episodes. As an avid follower, it would be wonderful if there were more frequent releases or longer episodes to indulge in. However, it's important to note that this doesn't take away from the quality or enjoyment of each episode.
In conclusion, The Hearth of Sap Bush Hollow podcast is a must-listen for those who seek solace and inspiration in their daily lives. Shannon Hayes has created something truly special with her storytelling abilities and soothing voice that leaves a lasting impact on listeners. Whether you're curled up inside with a cup of coffee or out in nature enjoying your surroundings, this podcast will bring you joy and contemplation. I highly recommend tuning in to experience the heartfelt messages and life lessons that Shannon shares with the world.
Efficiency. That's key to profitability on a farm. Everything must contribute to the well-being of the whole. If it doesn't contribute, it must go. For three years, I've been gently encouraging folks, even farmers and small business owners, to consider abandoning their social media accounts. But today, I'm not going to beat around the bush. I'm going to come out and ask you to do it. I think you'll be happier for it, that your businesses will run better without it, and that you'll be helping to take steps to restore democracy. And right now, the stakes are higher than ever. I'm Shannon Hayes, and you're listening to Season 6, Episode 3 of The Hearth of Sap Bush Hollow. It's hard to ignore the news these days, even though I think a lot of farmers prefer to. We're keenly aware that agrarian political views vary widely, and rural neighbors can't afford too many political battles. I try to keep my mouth shut to get along better. But last week, farm and homesteading culture got thrown into the political debate. And I think a few things warrant discussion. I can't give you a surefire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: try to please everybody all the time. — Herbert Bayard Swope, first recipient of the Pulitzer Prize'I'm Shannon Hayes, and you're listening to Season 4, Episode 12 of The Hearth of Sap Bush Hollow, the second in my 3 part series that's a Celebration of Negation. As I mentioned last week, I've spent a lot of years exploring the importance of NO in my life (which is funny, when you consider how most 2 year olds come by the gift naturally). In any event, I had to learn a lot about employing that magical word in order to step to the helm of my family's business and continue to balance it with my creative and family life. What you're about to hear is a reading based on my research and experience, adapted from my book, Redefining Rich from Benbella Books, copyright 2021. It's called Yes to No. You can read the full transcript http://theradicalhomemaker.net/tuesday-post/celebration-of-negation-part-ii-yes-to-no/. Support the show

We shear the sheep right before lambing season, and then, as soon as lambing season finishes, we're faced with getting the fleeces processed. That means June is all about the wool. Our annual wool bedding & yarn sale happens here at Sap Bush Hollow for the whole month, and we also have to get the raw fleeces to the family mills that we work with. The wool runs were once an annual affair, but they got interrupted by the pandemic. This is the first year we were able to resume them. This week, I'm talking about why that matters.
