Hey Dog Lover,Apollo wasn't the easiest dog to live with. He had a massive prey drive, a fearless attitude, and a knack for chaos — and honestly, there were days I didn't even like him.But behind all that intensity… was one of the most fiercely loyal, deeply devoted dogs I've ever known. In this episode, I'm telling the story of Apollo — the dog who made me question everything I thought I knew about leadership, love, and what it means to accept the whole dog, not just the easy parts. We'll explore:
Tulsi Gabbard's political career is truly singular: once a young progressive Democrat on the rise, then a gadfly taking surprise meetings with Bashar al-Assad, now she's Donald Trump's nominee to head up National Intelligence. Can people truly change? In this episode, we will reflect on how we often perceive others based on outdated impressions and challenge whether these perceptions are accurate reflections of who they are now. The discussion will revolve around the factors that contribute to both positive and negative changes in individuals, emphasizing the role of faith, discipline, and God's transformative power. This episode touches on the complexities of forgiveness and the importance of aligning one's life with Christ. 1 Samuel 15:10,11 Galatians 6:7 Galatians 5:16 Hebrews 4:12 Hebrews 12:11 Matthew 7:16 Luke 6:43 Acts 9:13-30 2 Timothy 4:11 Colossians 4:10 Acts 15:36-41 Acts 12:25 Acts 13:13 Ephesians 4:20-24 You can now also WATCH C.L.! Summary: In the midst of Covid hysteria, John Ziegler released his extraordinary podcast analyzing the Penn State scandal, reaching the conclusion after eight years of investigation, that not only was there no cover-up by Joe Paterno or Penn State, but that there were no crimes committed by Jerry Sandusky at all. For most of us, it was Penn State, then Covid, then Ukraine. For John, it was Penn State first. He joins Tom to discuss what it all means.Guest bio:John Ziegler is the host of The Death of Journalism and With the Benefit of Hindsight podcasts. He is also a documentary filmmaker, author and a former TV sportscaster and radio talk show host. He is most well-known for his second feature documentary film, "Media Malpractice" about the 2008 presidential election. He has appeared on numerous national TV shows as a guest, including the "Today Show" and "The View." He attended Georgetown University and while he grew up in Pennsylvania, he has no direct ties to Penn State. Jazz is a genre that serious musicians at least take time to explore. Whether it's classical musicians, film composers, rock musicians, pop artists, hip hop artists, even country artists like Willie Nelson...it's hard to find accomplished musicians in any genre who are ignorant of the world of jazz. While this episode won't get into the nuts and bolts of the genre, this is an introduction to 10 albums that will give you an idea of the versatility of the genre. All of this is from host David Lane, someone who resisted fully exploring jazz until he was nearly 40. Soundclips from the following albums occur in this order: Top 10 Albums in Chronoological Order Time Out (Dave Brubek Quartet) (Blue Rondo a la Turk, Take Five, Everybody Jumpin') Sketches of Spain (Miles Davis) (Concert do Aranjuez: Adagio, Will o the Wisp, Soleo) The Modern Jazz Quartet & Orchestra (Divertimento, England's Carol, First movement) Getz/Gilberto - Stan Getz and joǎo Gilberto (The Girl from Ipanema, Desafinado) Far East Suite (Duke Ellington) (Ishafan, Depk, Mount Harissa) Let My Children Sing (Charles Mingus) (Adagio Ma Non Troppo, Don't Be Afraid, The Clown's Afraid Too, Hobo Ho) Rosetta (Stephan Crump) (Were It a Loss, Rosie, Our Survival) Chamber Music Society (Esperanza Spalding) (Little Fly, What a Friend, Inútil Paisagem) The Epic (Kamasi Washington) (Change of the Guard, The Magnificent 7, Clair de Lune) Finding Gabriel (Brad Mehldau) (Born to Trouble, Striving After Wind, Proverb of Ashes) Previous Episodes mentioned: Episode 5 - Two Approaches to Listening to Music Episode 6 - Jazz Piano 101 (with Federico Pivetta) More or fewer episodes like this? Another classic example in the 90s of studio interference that ruined what could have been a standout film. With a great cast and a disappointing story trajectory, we were left wanting wayyy more at the end of this. Me and Jai only watched for Queen Winona. Granted, she tried to carry this film but ultimately the script was lacking and she dine have much help in terms of a strong actor in the lead role. Instead of not reviewing it we did get into what we would change, things that would have helped the story out, and talked a bit of gossip about the starsoff-topic rants: the 90s "Pussy Posse", Gwyneth Paltrow, BFFs--- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the Patreon! Wasn't expecting the Mitch Miller situation to arise again. And it ended as quickly as it returned. A question, when/how is someone redeemed? The answer is, it's different in all of our eyes. Alex and I had a blast hosting the Does Toledo Have Talent event at the Maumee Indoor. Aaron Carter died, and Jessica Simpson's Pottery Barn ad drew attention. I fear Twitter will die. The beginning of the end of social media. And it's STILL too busy.

One of the things that freed me up the most in my motherhood journey was realizing that I don't always have to LIKE every single part of being a mom. I don't have to like the 3 am wake up calls and poop accidents and toddler attitudes in order to do this job joyfully. If nobody's ever told you that, let me be the first to fill you in on this secret - loving motherhood and doing it joyfully doesn't mean you have to like every single part of it! Let's just be real, nobody likes every single part of it. The Senate confirmation hearings for President Joe Biden's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, have concluded. They were quite ugly at times, and it seemed like nobody changed their mind about Judge Jackson or their vote. So, was it always like this? At what point did they start getting less civil? Does today's version of a Supreme Court confirmation hearing serve any vital purpose, or is it just fodder for Senators' campaign videos? Jesus throws down the gauntlet in this weekend's Gospel, challenging us to "love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."
