If you're over 40 and thinking, "Why does nothing work the way it used to?" this Fit Girl Magic episode is going to hit. Today I'm joined by Emily Kaplan, co-founder of MetFix and the Broken Science Initiative, and we're pulling back the curtain on what's actually going on with midlife health, metabolism, hormones, and why the old advice is failing so many women. We talk about why trainers often know more about your real health than doctors, how insulin quietly drives weight gain and fatigue, and why eating less and moving more can backfire hard in midlife. This is one of those conversations that makes everything finally click. In This Episode, We Cover: • Why workouts and "clean eating" stop working after 40 • The real reason midlife weight gain isn't about calories • How insulin affects fat storage, energy, and cravings • Why doctors only get 12 minutes and trainers hear the real story • The problem with "just move more" health advice • How hormones, stress, and sleep change the rules after 40 • Why food quality matters more than tracking • What metabolic health actually means (without the jargon) • Why community and coaching matter more than perfection You'll Walk Away Knowing: ✔️ Your body isn't broken✔️ You're not failing at health✔️ You don't need another extreme plan✔️ You do need better information If this Fit Girl Magic podcast episode made you say "ohhh… that explains a lot," make sure to subscribe, leave a review, and share it with a friend who's convinced she's the problem (she's not). And if you're wondering what season your body is actually in right now, fat loss, restore, build, or maintain, check the link in the show notes to go deeper.

Thinking about a Disney Cruise but not sure if it's really worth it? In this episode of the Dream Wish Plan Podcast, I'm breaking down what actually makes Disney Cruise Line different — and why so many families come home saying it was the easiest vacation they've ever taken. Disney cruises are designed to keep everyone happy. Kids are entertained, adults get real downtime, and parents aren't stuck managing every detail. From rotational dining and Broadway-style shows to character interactions and included room service, so much is built into the experience that planning feels refreshingly simple. In this episode, we talk about: What makes Disney Cruise Line different from other cruise lines Why Disney cruises work so well for families of all ages Rotational dining and why it's a game-changer What's included (room service, drinks, entertainment, and more) Disney's private islands: Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point The truth about Disney Cruise pricing — and why it's often more doable than people think Shorter 3- and 4-night Disney cruises for first-time cruisers If you've been looking for a vacation that feels magical and relaxing, a Disney cruise might be exactly what you need.

Ever notice how the more rules you add… the faster everything falls apart? Yeah. Same. In this Fit Girl Magic episode, I'm continuing the Doable 26 conversation and calling out the real reason most women over 40 feel "stuck" with their health. Psst.... it's not lack of discipline. It's doing too damn much. This isn't a how-to episode. It's a permission slip. We're talking about why: Checking all the boxes doesn't equal results "All or nothing" thinking keeps you spinning Consistency has nothing to do with intensity And why curiosity beats control every single time I also share: What my own do-or-die fitness era looked like (hello burnout) The trip that completely changed how I approach health Why habits don't fail, but overload does How to stop trying to go back to what worked when you were in your 20s and 30s And how to choose 1–3 non-negotiables that actually fit your real life The Doable 26 isn't a challenge to win. It's an experiment. You try simple habits. You keep what works. You ditch what doesn't. No gold stars. No falling behind. No perfection required. If you've ever quit something that was a good idea because it felt like too much, this episode is for you. Inside This Episode: Why doing more feels productive but backfires How diet rules keep women over 40 stuck The mental load nobody talks about Why "earning rest" is a BS The truth about sustainable habits (hint: they're boring) How to build consistency without burning yourself out Ready to Try the Doable 26? The Doable 26 starts February 1st inside the Fit Girl Magic Facebook group. Each day you'll get: One simple health habit Zero pressure to do them all Total freedom to choose what fits Want all 26 tips right now?
Healthy eating shouldn't feel like a second full-time job — but if you've ever felt overwhelmed, behind, or like you're failing at “doing it right,” this episode is for you.In today's conversation, I'm sitting down with nutritionist, chef, and corporate wellness strategist Chef Leigh to break down what your version of healthy can actually look like in real life — not the Instagram-perfect kind. We talk through three simple but powerful shifts that make nourishing yourself feel doable even on your busiest days: the Power Plate Pause, why snack prep often matters more than meal prep, and how to use mood–food mapping to support your energy, focus, and emotions. This episode isn't about restriction, perfection, or copying someone else's routine. It's about learning how to pause, fuel instead of just function, and make food work for your life — not against it.If you've been craving a calmer, more grounded approach to eating that actually fits your schedule, your stress levels, and your season of life… press play. On this Make A Difference Minute, I'm reminding listeners of a simple but powerful principle, do what's doable. When life feels overwhelming and problems seem bigger than we can handle, this segment encourages listeners to focus on what they can control, take the next right step, and release the pressure of trying to fix everything at once. This is Part 2 of Doable 26, where we go deeper into why doing less actually works. If you want the backstory, Part 1 pairs perfectly with this episode. In this one, we're getting real about why "good habits" don't stick. It's not because you're lazy or inconsistent. It's because you're trying to do too much. We're talking about: Why checking all the boxes keeps you stuck How intensity pretends to be consistency What actually creates follow-through in midlife Why doing less is often the smartest move Doable 26 isn't a plan or a challenge. It's an experiment. You try what fits. You skip what doesn't. You stop turning habits into full-time jobs. Pick one boring thing. Let it be enough. Build something you can actually live with.
Hi, do you keep telling yourself, “I know what to do, I just need to actually do it?” Welcome. In this episode, Emily and Tiffany unpack a hard (and oddly relieving) truth: when something isn't happening, it's usually a design problem, not a motivation problem. More effort, more discipline, or more information won't fix a plan that doesn't fit real life. From nail trims and walks to client plans, business routines, and professional growth, Emily and Tiffany talk about why you shouldn't be trying harder; instead, try different. The goal isn't doing less because you care less. It's designing systems that are actually doable, for real humans, real pets, and real lives.TLDL (too long, didn't listen): 3 Key Takeaways 1️⃣ If you aren't doing it, that's data – It's not a character flaw. Inconsistent follow-through usually means the plan doesn't fit your reality. Shame won't fix that, but redesigning might.2️⃣ Fit your plans to life, not life to the plan – When we stop designing for an ideal world and start designing for the one we're actually living in, progress gets a lot more accessible.3️⃣ Doing less doesn't mean you care less – Just because something is simple, smooth, and easy, doesn't mean you care less, or aren't doing enough. Welp, it's almost 2026! Today we're breaking down how to set New Year's goals that actually stick, without pressure, guilt, or perfectionism. Just clarity, compassion, and small steps forward.Let's jump in!Step 1: WHAT MAKES A GOAL SMARTSMART goals are:• Specific• Measurable• Achievable• Relevant• Time‑boundMost goals fail because they're too vague. “Get healthier,” “be more confident,” “save money” — great intentions, zero clarity. SMART goals give you a roadmap instead of a wish.Step 2: THE KINDER APPROACHBefore you set any goal, ask yourself:• Does this goal come from pressure or from purpose?• Does it make my life heavier or lighter?• Is this something I want, or something I think I should want? When your goals come from self‑compassion, they last longer.Step 3: QUICK SMART GOAL EXAMPLESLet's take “I want to get healthier.”SMART version:“For the next 30 days, I'll walk 10 minutes a day to boost my energy.”Or “I want to be more confident.”SMART version:“Every Monday, I'll write down one thing I did well that week.”Small. Clear. Doable.Step 4: MICRO‑GOALSMicro‑goals are tiny actions that build momentum:• Drink one extra glass of water• Read for five minutes• Clean one drawer• Spend 10 minutes on a creative projectThese small wins build trust with yourself — and trust fuels consistency.Step 5: ACCOUNTABILITY WITHOUT SHAMEAccountability doesn't have to feel like judgment. It can be supportive:• Share your goal with someone who roots for you• Track progress visually• Celebrate tiny wins, you can do this by tracking what you are doing, whether with an app or journal etc• Adjust the goal when life changes, life is what happens on the way to your plans, so learn to pivot! you only fail when you quit, so don't...Accountability should feel like partnership, not pressure. As you step into the new year, remember: you don't need a new version of yourself — just a clearer, kinder plan for the version you already are. If this episode helped you, share it with someone who's setting goals too. And if you're working on your own SMART goals, I'd love to hear them. See you next time!TEAM LTP:My IG: @livetoprogressVoice-over credits

What if you could get quiet enough to hear your inner guides? I'm so excited to have Heather Dressel — I call her the intuition whisperer — back on the show.We tend to love spring and summer, the energy of creation and productivity. Winter can look so still and lifeless, but so much is percolating under the snow — and within. Tending to our winter energy can lead to greater growth. That said, there is a lot to distract us from that this time of year. Add to that the programming deeply ingrained in most of us to keep pushing and striving all the time. Learning to get quiet and go inward can be challenging — even if it is appealing to you. Join SADA's CTO, Miles Ward, and Associate CTO of AI & ML, Simon Margolis, for this special and final episode of the Cloud and Clear podcast. They share their biggest, most impactful predictions for 2026 and beyond, focusing on the massive shift required for businesses to get value from AI. Miles and Simon discuss how the conversation around AI investment is changing. Boards will no longer tolerate putting AI in the R&D bucket. The focus is shifting from "what's possible" to "what's profitable," demanding financial returns on a quarterly basis. In this insightful discussion, you will learn: The model choice: Why optimizing your model selection matters, noting that a model like Gemini Pro 2.5 can have output tokens that are 25 times more expensive than Gemini Flash. Service as software: The need to think of your business as a new startup, building "machinery to let you run service as if it's software." Democratization: How "anybody that knows their natural language is able to go and build some type of truly agentic system." The ability to build a prototype with a prompt is replacing lengthy Product Requirement Documents (PRDs). The luxury trap: Why reducing friction will become a required, contractually obligated expectation. This includes developing "user interfaces for an audience of one" to accommodate different customer cohorts. Choose one that really piques your interest and roll with it. Here are three Doable Changes from this conversation:MAKE YOUR MESSAGE REALLY CLEAR. Think about what's keeping your clients up at night, what they are Googling. Don't use your expert language. Keep it really simple. And add “so that you …” to the end of your message to help the client see the results.SHARE SOMETHING VULNERABLE. We all want deeper connection, and when we share something vulnerable, it helps people connect with us. Aim for once or twice a month. But your first step: Make the first vulnerable post.PRACTICE BEING CONSISTENT. Instead of trying to come up with something new to post, seek different examples, anecdotes, or other ways to tell people again what you you do. Your message should be consistent. It might even

We all want to fix things for our kids, assure them that they are good at what they do, but that doesn't really help. Try validating their feelings and making space for them to talk more instead of offering solutions or praise.RESET YOUR POST-GAME EXPECTATIONS. Your kiddo might be grumpy or want space after a tough game or practice. They might not want to analyze every play. They may not feel like going to dinner and being polite. Adjust your own expectations and let them take the lead on that ride home.SHIFT YOUR PRAISE. We can unknowingly set expectations for our kids by lavishing praise for major achievements. On today's episode, Amy is joined by Licensed Psychologist and maternal mental health specialist, Dr. Lilit, to discuss identity - from womanhood, to motherhood, to working mom - why self care is a non-negotiable, and how to shift “mom guilt” into “I care”. Dr. Lilit feels strongly that all women can thrive in motherhood by rethinking expectations and priorities. She walks through ways to maintain your original identity when becoming a mother and reminds us to have gentle expectations of ourselves and our to-do lists. We know a lot of our listeners will be returning to work, so Dr. Lilit shares that planning and thinking through the emotional change that will occur, sharing how you'll need support from others, and acknowledging the grief of being a working mom can make the transition less emotionally taxing. Self care is not a luxury as a mother, it is essential! Dr. Lilit shares some tangible ways to make self care a priority and the mindset shift to help you leave the “mom guilt” behind. Overall, modeling healthy self care and emotional wellness for our kids is not only doing us a service, but showing our children that love exists within that self care so we can be the best moms we can be!If you enjoyed listening to this episode, we would love it if you could share it to your Instagram stories and tag us, @dr_lilit and @expectingandempowered. When I tell you that the 20-miler I did in a real-feel of 100 degrees here in Tokyo was one of the most challenging moments of my year, that would be an understatement. As a Christian, don't you want to have stronger trust and obedience? It's a journey of faith for sure. And your midlife wellness is a journey too. Think about your last provider appointment. How did it go for you? Did you have more questions than answers? Did you feel heard and seen? Were you given a script for a medication you didn't want but you felt desperate enough to try it? Here's what I know: Wellness is a journey. It's not a linier line. It's ups and downs. Hills and valleys. Good days and really horrible days. Frustrating medical appointments, non answers, dreams deferred or dashed, confusion and overwhelm. And it's also, days of hope, clarity into what your body is telling you, joy in the process, accountability and support along the journey. It's mornings waking refreshed. Evenings with energy to take that walk you keep putting off with your hubby. Friday night activities with the family or friends instead of making an excuse why you can't come. Wellness is a journey. It's not a straight line. Especially in this midlife season. I wish it were but the truth is it's not. And yet, even in the journey…. It can be easier. Doable. Simplified. We just need to lean into what God says in His word. We all need this word from the Lord today. This is an episode that I encourage you to slow down and lean into… If you are able, settle into a comfortable chair and really let this word wash over you. Then, ask the Lord how this pertains to you specifically in your health journey. I pray this blesses you and strengthens you today! “Divorce is mostly about money.” –Gabriella MartinelliMarried? Do you know where your money is? I'm really excited to talk with Gabriella Martinelli, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, about what we need to know about our finances and protecting ourselves before or during a divorce.Even if you don't think you are headed in that direction, you can protect yourself, because if you don't know where the money is or don't have access to the accounts, and something happens, you're stuck.Divorce is often messy — a mix of emotions, laws that aren't clear, and financial confusion. Getting clarity around the money can help you make choices from a better place. We talk about: Why so many women don't know about money — and why it's a problemFinancial and nonfinancial contributions to the familyFear about not having enough money and trust about money going both ways Protecting your business early and keeping business expenses separate from household expensesQuestions you should be asking and how you can start to find informationWhy you should hire a CDFA before an attorney if you are moving toward divorceABOUT GABRIELLAGabriella E. Choose one that really piques your interest and roll with it. Here are three Doable Changes from this conversation:GET A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR FAMILY FINANCIAL PICTURE. What accounts do you have? What investments? What debt? Are your names on those accounts? Ask questions. Collect information. Ask for more access. It's not only useful in case of divorce, but also in case something happens to your spouse and you need to do more than you are doing financially.DIG DEEPER. Gabriella offers some ideas about using tax returns, credit reports, and other documents to start to gather information on your own if you feel you can't ask questions or don't trust the answers.PROTECT YOUR BUSINESS. While protecting your business may take multiple changes, the first step you can take is to talk to an attorney about protecting your business as your livelihood in case, separate from other assets. From there you can make decisions about what you need to do.

Change comes from action. Sometimes action gets a bad rap. You can be kind to yourself. You can practice being AND doing, but for change to happen you have to take steps. The way we take care of ourselves is making the steps doable and focusing on one thing at a time. We take time to integrate the change and then move on to the next one. Pick a Doable Change that resonates with you the most to start from. Here are three Doable changes that we chose from this conversation. MAKE A CODE WORD. Create a code word that means, “I'm overwhelmed and starting to get resentful” or out of your zone of tolerance. Discuss what you need to do when you use your code word. If your partner chooses one too, respect their needs when they use it.SCHEDULE TIME TO FOCUS ON YOUR RELATIONSHIP. Even if you are in couples therapy or counseling, schedule time outside to...

Is your house loud and chaotic? Does your brain spin daily? Does your patience feel paper-thin? If you said yes, then this episode is your exhale. Nobody talks about why moms get emotionally stuck in the chaos, but we need to normalize it. There is constant overstimulation: the noise, the needs, and the decisions to be made. We try to suppress it and hold it all together because everyone needs us to have it all together until we finally snap and explode. We need a break, but then we feel guilty for taking a break. We believe we just don't have time to reset. In this episode, we're talking small, doable resets that take 5 minutes or less — to help you come back to peace, even when everything else feels loud. This is for the busy, overwhelmed moms who need practical, bite-sized emotional resets they can use anytime — even in the middle of toddler tantrums or work-from-home chaos.
