This week on the Podcast CL and Shawn reunite like Benson and Stabler to give you a rundown of some of the latest movies and TV to hit streaming. We look into the latest HBO Max offerings. First up is the new Mortal Kombat remake. While Shawn openly admits being a fan of the video game, he had not seen any of the previous iterations deeming this was only worth his time by trailer alone. Was he wrong? Well... Then we follow up with a quick breakdown of Kong vs. Godzilla. This movie gets some extra love because the word podcast was uttered multiple times and Bryan Tyree Henry who is officially a show favorite, gets some real shine. After maxing out on HBO, we switch to Amazon Prime's latest blockbuster, Tom Clancy's ‘Without Remorse' starring Michael B. Jordan. We tried talking about the movie, but you can't discuss it without talking about Adonis Creed's face. Like we said in the podcast, it's not his fault. He is a decent actor overall. We want him to succeed. It's just you know. We wrap up by getting into the latest addition to the Law and Order Universe, Organized Crime. "The Law and Order: SVU" spin-off on takes the character Detective Elliot Stabler and revives him for the new show. We try to untangle the hand-off and decide whether or not it's worth sticking around. Thanks for listening 9:27 - Mortal Kombat 21:20 - Godzilla vs. King Kong 39:00 - Micahel B. As promised, the Madcap Crew finally chopped it up on Derek's favorite movie, 1989's Harlem Nights! In the waning days of Prohibition, Sugar Ray (Richard Pryor) and his adopted son, Quick (Eddie Murphy), run a speakeasy called Club Sugar Ray. When gangster Bugsy Calhoune (Michael Lerner) learns that Sugar Ray's place is pulling in more money than his own establishment, the Pitty Pat Club, he pays corrupt cop Phil Cantone (Danny Aiello) to close Club Sugar Ray down. Quick doesn't exactly help the situation when he falls for Calhoune's gun moll, Miss Dominique La Rue (Jasmine Guy). Episodes will now drop weekly on Fridays at 12pm! Subscribe, rate and review! The Madcap Crew wraps up its horror series with Derek's pick, 1990's Def by Temptation; an interesting film (the nicest way to put it) written, produced, and directed by James Bond III, starring Bond, Kadeem Hardison, Bill Nunn, Samuel L. Jackson, and Cynthia Bond as, "the Temptress." Joel (James Bond III), a quiet divinity student from North Carolina, starts to question his faith. So he heads to New York to visit his friend K (Kadeem Hardison), a struggling actor, who takes him out bar-hopping. They meet a gorgeous seductress (Cynthia Bond) who turns out to be a succubus, a demon spirit luring black lotharios to their deaths. When she sets her eyes on Joel, K turns to the help of Dougie (Bill Nunn), a drunken cop who specializes in supernatural investigations. CL, Derek and Shawn kick it in 1996 for another week to visit the parody cult classic, Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood. Don't Be a Menace was directed by twenty-two time Emmy award winning television director and producer Paris Barclay in his feature film directorial debut, and produced by comedy legend Keenen Ivory Wayans. The film was written by Shawn and Marlon Wayans, who also star in the lead roles. Innocent young black man Ashtray (Shawn Wayans) is forced to move into a tough Los Angeles slum with his family, including his oddly streetwise, pot-smoking grandma (Helen Martin). Before long, Ashtray's nuclear-armed gangster cousin Loc Dog (Marlon Wayans) introduces him to a bizarrely comic crime underworld. Luckily, Ashtray falls for urban poet Dashiki (Tracey Cherelle Jones), and she convinces him to go straight -- but he must deal with her manic ex-boyfriend Toothpick (Darrel Heath). The Madcap Crew is back to chop it up on 1993's Jurassic Park. All things considered, that may not have been the best way to say that!
