It's Die Hard in a plane (with very few passengers)! This week, Phil and Liam are experiencing TURBULENCE, the 1997 action-thriller starring Ray Liotta, Lauren Holly, Hector Elizondo, Ben Cross, Brendan Gleeson, Rachel Ticotin…and a mystery Die Hard cast member! On Christmas Eve, convicted serial killer Ryan Weaver (Ray Liotta) is being transported across the country on an almost empty 747, with another prisoner and a group of federal marshals. Once airborne, Weaver escapes and wreaks havoc on board with the cops, passengers and the flight crew. When his actions result in the death of both pilots, it becomes up to lone Flight Attendant Teri Halloran (Lauren Holly) to somehow defeat Weaver and land the plane safely before it crashes! There's Die Hard (and Die Hard 2) DNA everywhere in this Xmas-set skybound thrill-ride, giving the boys plenty to examine in the comparison section. They also discuss the life and career of the film's late star Ray Liotta, listing their favorite performances among his stellar filmography. They talk in detail about the film's female cast - notably its leading lady Lauren Holly, and supporting performers Rachel Ticotin and Catherine Hicks – amid the wider context of the movie's provocative sexual politics. The boys then fly through the ‘Die Hard Oscars' and stick the landing with a dastardly edition of the ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz! Peggy Sue got married. But what if she didn't? What if, by some magical force, she was transported back to 1960 to relive high school? What if didn't end up marrying Nicolas Cage and his wang, and instead married an edgelord beatnik or an angsty nerd? These are the questions asked by this film directed by…*checks notes* Francis Ford COPPOLA?!?! Whew, okay, I couldn't have called that. Anyway, David and Justus also have some questions about Peggy Sue, like why didn't she also use her time to stop the Kennedy assassination and the Manson murders? And is this film that is, once again, inexplicably directed by the same guy who made the Godfather the Greatest Movie Ever Made? Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) is directed by Francis Ford Coppola and stars Kathleen Turner, Nicolas Cage, Barry Miller, Catherine Hicks and Joan Allen. My guest this week is one of the sweetest people I've met and worked with, Actress Catherine Hicks. Since it's October we focused on her role in the very first Child's Play film (listen to the episode I released this past Wednesday with her husband Kevin Yagher). Catherine dishes behind the scenes stories of the film, how the two met, and the impact the film has had on her life. She also dishes about Classic Hollywood influences, how she got into acting, her lesser known yet incredible role as Marilyn Monroe (and how she feels about the icon's legacy being remembered today) and so much more.
my guest is master FX Artist and Director Kevin Yagher. Kevin is best known for his work in designing and creating iconic horror icons like Child's Play's ‘Chucky', the Crypt Keeper creature, and Freddy Krueger's gruesome makeup. Kevin has worked in the industry since his early twenties, with eager sights set on the FX world. One of the kindest, we discuss his work with Child's Play, the Crypt Keeper, iconic horror films and early influences, Classic Hollywood, the importance of pursuing your passions in life and humility, and the cutest story about he met his wife Catherine Hicks on the set of the first Child's Play film. (She'll been the show the week after!) https://linktr.ee/katclassic
Despite the best effort of Catherine Hicks, this tepid spy thriller, which centers around a man getting a new face, doesn't seem to rise above it's inherent blandness. This month we dive into Spy, as well as the other made-for-TV movies in our history and ask, "Is it the movie, or the genre?" Bonus appearance by Ned Beatty!
Join BP, Coop and Justin as we discuss Child's Play 2, the 1990 sequel to the original and first instalment in the chucky franchise. Two years after the first film, the Play Pals Corporation, which produces the Good Guy dolls, recovers from the negative publicity and reassembles Chucky to reassure its stockholders that there was nothing actually wrong with the doll. During the process, a power surge electrocutes one of the assembly line workers. Mr. Sullivan, the executive of the company, orders his assistant Mattson to cover up the accident and dispose of Chucky, unaware that he has been revived. Meanwhile, Andy Barclay, now eight years old, has been in foster care ever since the murders, his mother having been institutionalized for backing up Andy's story about the killer doll. Andy goes to live with foster parents Phil and Joanne Simpson, who are also fostering Kyle, a cynical, street smart teenage girl. Chucky discovers Andy's whereabouts by using Mattson's car phone to call Grace Poole, the manager of Andy's foster center, before suffocating Mattson with a plastic bag. However, their scenes were cut from the scripts because of budgetary constraints, and as a result of their omission the film is much shorter than the other installments in the series. The courtroom scene would be recycled as the ending of Curse of Chucky in 2013. It also would have contained a scene where Chucky's remains were held in a police evidence locker alongside Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers's masks, an idea which came to be reused in Bride of Chucky in 1998. Principal photography began on November 6, 1989 with a $12 million budget. Unlike the first film which was mostly shot on-location in Chicago, most of the second film was shot in Universal Studios Lot in Universal City, California. Brad Dourif recorded all of his dialogue as Chucky in advance, which allowed his words to match up with his facial movements better than in the first film. Kevin Yagher returned to do the special effects and puppetry, directing several scenes of the film himself.[9] The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees picketed the shoot to demand that the production company stop using non-union employees, with the crew voting to sign a union contract in January 1990 shortly before filming wrapped. Graeme Revell, whose only scoring experience was the 1989 Australian psychological horror film Dead Calm, was hired to compose the music after lying to the studio that he had composed an orchestral composition before. Kevin Carlson, Van Snowden, and N. Brock Winkless IV were credited as part of the puppeteers of Chucky. #horror #movie #death #horrorfilm #splatter #deathscene #blood #gore #scarymovie #horror #completeguidetohorror #horrormovie

Andy begins to bond with Kyle after the two are punished for an heirloom Chucky destroyed. That night, Chucky ties Andy to his bed and reveals himself, but Kyle enters the room before he can complete the voodoo chant to possess him. Kyle doesn't believe Andy's assertions about Chucky while Phil and Joanne blame Kyle and throw Chucky in the basement. Chucky realizes that he is becoming human after suffering a nosebleed. The next day, Chucky secretly follows Andy to school and defaces his homework. Chucky kills Andy's teacher Miss Kettlewell by stabbing her with a pump and then beating her to death with a yardstick, but Andy manages to escape. Later, Andy tries to warn his foster parents about Chucky, but Phil refuses to believe him and considers returning him to the foster center.Follow the Complete Guide to Horror Movies podcast on our social channels below.↪ Facebook↪ TikTok↪ Twitter↪ Instagram↪ Subscribe to our YouTube channel↪ Tip us $5↪ LinktreeOriginally the film was intended to open with a courtroom scene of a jury sentencing Karen Barclay to a mental institution for insisting that Chucky was alive, and both Catherine Hicks and Chris Sarandon were intended to reprise their roles as Karen and Detective Mike Norris from the first film. Tony and Laurie start with the big news about Alex Kurtzman’s extended $160 million 5-year deal at ViacomCBS, and what that means for the Star Trek Universe. They discuss the departure of most of the Star Trek movie catalog from Paramount+, the 2022 launch of Paramount+ in Europe (including Prodigy), more actors wrapping up their work on Discovery season 4, and quickly go over the Covid precautions being taken at next week’s upcoming 55-Year Mission convention in Las Vegas. In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite films and one of the films most widely considered to be the favourite film of fans and non-fans alike of the "Star Trek" motion picture franchise: "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" directed by Leonard Nimoy. The third part in an unofficial trilogy of films, the story of the film sees Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner) and his crew of Spock (Leonard Nimoy), Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley), Scotty (James Doohan), Sulu (George Takei), Chekov (Walter Koenig), and Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) returning home to Earth from a three month exile on the planet Vulcan to stand trial for the events of the previous film - most notably stealing the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, which lead to the ship's destruction, and taking possession of a Klingon Bird of Prey type starship. However, as a result of an approaching alien probe that threatens all life of Earth if a response cannot be found to answer the powerful transmission of the probe, and after a planet-wide distress signal is broadcast warning all approaching vessels to stear clear of Earth or face the same fate. Admiral Kirk and his crew aboard the Klingon Bird of Prey, the "HMS Bounty", after analysing the call of the probe, realise that the only lifeforms capable of responding to the alien probe are the now-extinct species of humpback whales - which leads Admiral Kirk and his crew to determine that the only solution available to them is to attempt to time-travel to the 20th Century to find some humpback whales so that they can be returned to the 23rd Century so that they may assist humanity in their time of need and desperation. The film also stars Catherine Hicks as Dr. Gillian Taylor, Mark Leonard as Sarek (Spock's father), and Jane Wyatt as Amanda Gryson (Spock's mother). The beautiful soundtrack of the film was composed by Leonard Rosenman. And the dedicated to the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger which broke up 73 seconds after takeoff on the morning of January 28th, 1986. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message
@HuddsMagruder, @TheRealRonWarner, and Edwardo @Brunosmind to the show to talk about famous celebrity kids and their career potential. Are they destined to live in the shadow of their more famous parent, will they or have they eclipsed their parent, or will they have a career that is on par with their famous parent or parents?
This week on Total Movie Recall, Steve and Ryan wonder why kids are scared of the stupidest boogeymen. The Leprechaun haunted Ryan for his entire childhood, waiting in dark corners, making it unable for him to pee in the middle of the night. If only he had watched the movie when he was seven years old, and seen how stupid, unscary, unwitty, and half-assed this boring, lazy movie is, he wouldn't have wasted another second being scared. The Leprechaun can't even be bothered to turn limericks into dirty rhymes. Nantucket! It rhymes itself! Leprechaun (1993) d. For the next three weeks, each host of the Madcap Movie Review Podcast will select a horror movie for the Crew to review. Up first, is Shawn's pick, 1988's Child's Play. The original horror classic was directed by Tom Holland, not Spider-Man, people… and starred Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon, Alex Vincent as Andy and Brad Dourif as Charles Lee Ray and Chucky. Gunned down by Detective Mike Norris (Chris Sarandon), dying murderer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) uses black magic to put his soul inside a doll named Chucky -- which Karen Barclay (Catherine Hicks) then buys for her young son, Andy (Alex Vincent). When Chucky kills Andy's baby sitter, the boy realizes the doll is alive and tries to warn people, but he's institutionalized. Now Karen must convince the detective of the murderous doll's intentions, before Andy becomes Chucky's next victim.
