This summer, the second season of the hit animated series, "X-Men '97", arrived on Disney+ around the world, and recently, I got to speak with the composers of the music for the show, The Newton Brothers, Andy Grush and Taylor Newton Stewart. Building on the emotional aftermath of the first season's shocking finale, the composers crafted a score rooted in loss, resilience, and hope. Familiar themes return transformed by what the characters have endured, while new characters introduce fresh musical ideas that expand the sound of the series. Drawing from the rich sonic palette established in Season 1, including vintage and modern synthesisers, drum machines, choir, orchestra, guitars, solo voices, and percussion, The Newton Brothers push the music into bold new territory while honouring the legacy of the beloved animated classic. The result is a score that can be dark and intimate, thrilling and heroic, heartbreaking and inspiring, often all within the same episode. On the evening of Friday, 14th August 2026, Disney takes over the Honda Centre for a two-hour-long Disney Entertainment Showcase event. Guests attending the showcase can expect surprise celebrity appearances, exclusive first looks at upcoming films and series, exciting new announcements, and unforgettable musical performances. The star-studded presentation will celebrate the stories audiences love while offering an exclusive preview of what's coming next across Disney's movies, television, games, and live stage productions. In previous years, we've seen many new films and shows announced to be heading to Disney+ in the future, especially in the run-up to the release of Disney+ in 2019 and then again in 2022 and 2024. And it's important to note that this is a two-hour presentation covering not just Disney+, but also the theatrical movies, video games and even its live stage productions.  So this will drastically reduce the amount of time given to each project, and it does mean we are very likely to see far fewer Disney+ Original announcements than in recent D23 events. However, that doesn't mean we won't be getting anything!   So here are my predictions for what could be revealed for Disney+ during the Entertainment Showcase panel.
