Brian Stokes Mitchell is a two-time Tony Award-winning actor who has always thought the universe chose him. Born on Halloween when “people dress up in costumes and pretend to be other people”, the stars have indeed decided. Aside from performing, he also writes, dances, produces his own music, and orchestrates, but out of all the things he can do, his best quality is being a really good student. He details his latest project, “HOPE”, realizing that sometimes creative works have their own timing - this video dropping exactly when we need to hear it the most. He presents a profound metaphor about life as a "long sentence" full of commas rather than periods, and what his “dead questions” are. With an upcoming role in “3 Summers of Lincoln” at the La Jolla Playhouse, he recounts how the project deeply resonated with him upon reading the script. Aside from all his projects, he always makes sure to give back to the community–from being chairman of the board for the Entertainment Community Fund for 19 years to providing entertainment from his balcony during the pandemic. Stokes shares how curiosity continues to motivate him, and why we should follow our heart in all our endeavors. Brian Stokes Mitchell is a two-time Tony Award-winning, Drama Desk Award-winning, and Outer Critics Award winning actor. He is renowned for his powerful baritone voice and dynamic stage presence with standout performances in Broadway productions like “Ragtime”, “Kiss Me, Kate”, “Man of La Mancha”, and “Shuffle Along”. He's become a celebrated figure in musical theater, but beyond Broadway, he has showcased his talent on television, including shows like “Vampirina”, “Wolverine”, “Billions”, “Mr. Robot”, and of course, “Trapper John, M. D.” He's also recognized for his philanthropic work, particularly for his 19 years of serving as chairman of the board for the Entertainment Community Fund, and is a member of the Theater Hall of Fame since 2016. Actor and writer Allan McLeod (You're the Worst), returns to discuss the gothic chiller INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Christian Slater and Antonio Banderas. This 1994 adaptation of author Anne Rice's bestselling novel spans centuries in the lives of elegant bloodsuckers from late 18th century New Orleans to mid-90s San Francisco. Neil Jordan directed an all-star cast lead by the then-surprise choice of Cruise as the flamboyantly evil vampire, Lestat. Despite some high profile protestations over its dark themes, the film was a box office hit upon release, and has secured its spot as a piece of '90s horror iconography. But viewed today, is INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE still have some bite or does it simply... suck? Much is at stake as we check the pulse of this film, plus ask our recurring question "Would You Parent Like That?", and follow some fun diversions into Sesame Street, the Mandela effect, Craig Healy, Vampirina, Oprah Winfrey, and much, much more! INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE is currently available to stream on HBO Max.

Today's guest is Nancy Kanter, a producer and executive who didn't start out in animation or on an executive track - although I'm not sure exactly what an executive track is since so many people I speak to have non-linear career paths. Nancy began her career as an editor on feature films and documentaries spent a few years creating Sesame Street specials and wound up being an integral part of Disney Junior's birth and expansion around the planet, including overseeing the development of shows like Doc McStuffins and Vampirina. Nancy joined Netflix on an overall deal early in 2021, has won multiple awards, overseen oodles of great content, and was really a joy to chat with.Enjoy! Please remember to like, rate, and comment on your favorite podcasting platform and share the episode on social media. If you have any comments or suggestions please get in touch. Today I’m joined by Missy Khamvongsa, the co-founder of the Facebook group, Disney Planning for Disney Friends (almost 50k members!) She joined me in episode 5 and shared ALL the details of bringing a one-year-old to WDW and Universal Orlando. This episode highlight the Universal Studios portion of their vacation. Here are just a few items we discuss: Hard Rock Hotel Express Pass Diagon Alley interactive wand The Cowfish CityWalk Annual Passes Despicable Me character breakfast Three Broomsticks Hot Butterbeer Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Favorite Vacation memories “There were a few times where Emma’s reactions were just amazing. The first time that she saw the Frozen Sing-Along Celebration. It was just Me and her, everyone else was on either Star Tours or Rock’n’Roller coaster and so I took her to see the Frozen Sing-Along for the first time. We sat in the second row and the curtain comes up and she recognizes the music and then Anna comes on stage and she just starts yelling, ‘Anna’ and reaching out for her. And it was just, it was incredible. I was worried that maybe she would get antsy because it's a 30 minute show. She was mesmerized the whole time. It was a great experience. And then her reaction to Vampirina that we talked about earlier when we did the Hollywood & Vine breakfast was amazing. Oh, and at Royal Sommerhus at Epcot for her to meet Anna and Elsa. We were the first in our group to go into the room. And so there was one family meeting with Elsa and Anna was waiting on the other side and Emma saw that they were in the room and her eyes got wide and she's just yelling, ‘Anna, Elsa’ and Anna was waving at her and she was waving back. We learned we could just put her down next to the character and they would sit on the floor and the interaction that she would have with just her and them was just incredible. And just watching that, I started crying. My sister made fun of me because I just had tears streaming down my face because it was so lovely to see.” Learn more about Missy: Episode 5: Vacation like a Disney Expert www.magicofmainstreet.com Disney Planning for Disney Friends Missy's Facebook page Follow Missy on Instagram Follow Report the Magic on Instagram

For a minivan, Missy's pro tip is to rent with Alamo and make a reservation for a full-size car and then also a minivan reservation. If you become an Alamo Insider, you can the skip the line! So head straight to the garage and in the Orlando Airport many times there are minivans in the full-size aisle. When Missy arrived, there were two or three minivans sitting in the full-size aisle. You can then do a quick online check-in drive off to Walt Disney World, saving hundreds on your reservation that way. The L Word played a big role in many of our coming out stories, and screenwriter/playwright Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim (My Little Pony; Llama Llama; Vampirina) is no exception. However, she had to deal with the added impact of her mom and older sister actually being on the show OH MY GOD WHAT YES REALLY BOTH OF THEM. Ariel talks to us about all this and more; plus, Melissa Etheridge and labels and biphobia - oh my! In addition to her work in animation, Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim (IG: @shoppenheim) wrote the award-winning shorts "Fuck You From LA" and "Dear Sister." Her most recent play, Wealth, premiered at the Lyric Hyperion Theatre as part of the Sorority Series.
