It was bound to happen. The Geeks are diving into Disney discussion with the Disney Trilogy! Part One takes us back to The Disney Afternoon (1990–1997), that glorious weekday block of animated adventures that defined childhoods. From DuckTales and Gummi Bears to Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, and Goof Troop, we'll walk through the entire lineup of shows that made after-school TV a magical event. Chris and Brian share their favorites, debate the Mount Rushmore of Disney Afternoon, and uncover spiritual lessons hidden within these cartoons. Along the way, we'll see how Disney used stories of treasure, teamwork, and heroism to capture imaginations—and how those themes connect to timeless truths from God's Word.

This week on Toon'd In!, Jim Cummings welcomes the legendary animator, writer, director, and Darkwing Dad himself—Tad Stones! The creative force behind Darkwing Duck, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and the Aladdin sequels and series sits down for a no-holds-barred chat packed with passion, nostalgia, and a few myth-busting surprises (yes, we're talking about Darkwing and Batman... again). From his early days at Disney during the Eisner boom to crafting some of the most beloved Saturday morning staples of all time, Tad shares what it really took to bring these shows to life—story pitches, character development, late-night rewrites, and the moments that made it all worthwhile. He and Jim reflect on their collaborations, the evolution of TV animation, and why the heart behind the art still matters most.
El Zorro is your hombre! (En luister zeker ook naar de postcredit met aanvullende info van Tom Schoepen, zoon van.)

When those put those 2 together, you get games like Chip N' Dale and DuckTales. You also the occasionally-overlooked-but-really-solid Darkwing Duck. Let's get dangerous. This one definitely has a little more bite than some of the previous Capcom Disney games. Everyone told me there's a splash of Mega Man in this one, and I agree. Both because you can choose the order you tackle the levels in, and because it's gonna kill you a lot. But I rarely found it "cheap" tough. It was just one of those games that you keep playing and you get good at. Solid soundtrack, good graphics. My only real complaint is that I wish there was more of it. My buddy Bradley McCue returns to the show this week. And while we both kinda drop the ball when it comes to our Darkwing Duck knowledge (something I'm ashamed of because I love this show), we both agreed that Capcom was in the zone back in this era. And while we may not be convinced that DD belongs in the same conversation as DuckTales and Chip N' Dale, it's a game well worth your time. As long as you're not a controller thrower. And before we get dangerous, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks is I'd consider taking the VR plunge if tactical RPGs were VR experiences. Did I ever help my little brother beat games as a kid? And what comes first: Half Life 3, GTA 7, or world peace?? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! In this episode, we are taking you back a number of years to a lost episode! We spent some time many years ago speaking with Tad Stones, a Disney animator who worked for the company from 1974-2003. The problem is this edit fell through the cracks and went into podcast purgatory. We are here to resurrect it and get our conversation with Tad Stones out so you all can listen. This conversation begins with EPCOT Center and some of the different items he had his hands on. We get into World of Motion, Journey into Imagination, and more. The EPCOT perspectives from these early days are fascinating and surprising at the same time, as most of this is not the major highlight of Tad's Disney career. Tad also gets into a fun story about meeting George Lucas in the early 1980s, eating fried chicken, and even giving a little foreshadowing about the prequels. Either way, this is such a cool interaction and story that we are so excited to share with you. Tad has such a unique perspective on the early EPCOT years, digging into development, planning, and how it all came together. Tad has been a major part of Disney animation, which is one of his biggest claims to fame. Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Ducktales, Hercules, & Atlantis are all credited to Tad, which is unbelievable if you think about it. While we were hoping to have Tad at RetroMagic back in 2023, we are hoping there is a chance we can have him at a future event so listeners can have the opportunity to meet him. While this episode has been many years in the making, we hope you all have enjoyed the time with Tad Stones.
We have two brilliant and funny people on the pod today, and they take us into some crazy scenes about director Q&As, advanced pottery, the red paper clip guy, walking in and demanding a job, Darkwing Duck, and much more. Amanda Deibert has written for a host of top-tier comic books, like Darkwing Duck, Red Sonjia, The Batman & Scooby-Doo Mysteries, and DC Super Hero Girls. She's also the author of the Racket & Groot Grapx book series, and an extremely insightful writer's journal titled "You Already Have the Answers". In recent months, Amanda has been taking her writing gifts to support a Comic Book Creator's Club, with the students at her local elementary school. In this episode of Hungry Trilobyte, she and I discuss how the program is set up, what benefits it brings to the kids, and how this idea could translate into other schools elsewhere. Amanda previously appeared in Episodes 32 and 77 of Hungry Trilobyte. This episode features an invitation to participate in Trek Rough Cuts, an online telethon to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. You've been entertained by Jim Cummings at some point over the last forty years whether you know it or not: he is the voice of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Darkwing Duck, the Tasmanian Devil, and countless other cartoon characters. And like his hero Mel Blanc, he is not merely “doing” voices—he's acting and singing his heart out. Leonard and Jessie are especially fond of his vocalizing as Ray the Cajun firefly, who croons “Ma Belle Angeline” in Disney's The Princess and the Frog. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with someone we've both admired for years.
