Who says the year is starting slowly? In Patch Notes, Ben and Matt break down the release of hot-button free-to-play shooter 'Highguard,' the latest signs of decline at Ubisoft, and highlights from Microsoft's Xbox Developer Direct. Then they go on a Side Quest to discuss Matt's panic purchase of a gaming PC before reaching their Main Quest: spoiler-free recommendations for four indie gems from January (their Game of the Young Year, 'Cairn,' plus 'Mio: Memories in Orbit,' 'TR-49,' and 'Perfect Tides: Station to Station'). After that, they play Mash or Pass with new big-screen adaptation 'Return to Silent Hill.' Finally, Ben brings on gaming YouTube legend Markiplier to discuss his horror adaptation: the self-financed film ‘Iron Lung.' Email us at ringerversegaming@gmail.com! On this week's episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast, Pete, Sids, and Chris are joined by the one and only Marcus Mumford for a wide-ranging, hilarious, and surprisingly football-obsessed chat. From charity matches and penalty shootouts with José Mourinho, to growing up as a die-hard AFC Wimbledon fan, Marcus opens up on how deeply football is woven into his life and music. The lads dive into unforgettable stories from the Grenfell charity match, playing alongside Premier League legends, and why grassroots football still hits harder than the modern game. Marcus also lifts the lid on life at the very top of music — from Glastonbury and Hyde Park to playing at the White House, meeting Barack Obama, and getting a no-nonsense songwriting pep talk from Noel Gallagher. There's chaos too, as Crouchy's Spanish guitar challenge gathers pace, gigs are planned (and refused) around England kick-offs, and Marcus explains why hearing his music on Match of the Day was a bigger moment than almost anything else.Music, football, side quests, and a proper debate about whether the game really has gone — this one has it all.00:00 – Subscribe song, intro & opening chaos02:15 – Sid's holiday, previous guests & missing episodes05:10 – Guitar chat, New Year resolutions & festival fantasies08:40 – Kasabian, Finsbury Park & learning guitar late in life11:55 – Marcus Mumford joins the podcast14:30 – Grenfell charity match & scoring past José Mourinho19:05 – Visiting Mourinho at home & the “pantomime villain” role23:10 – Playing with football legends27:55 – New album Prizefighter & why it's his favourite record32:40 – Hyde Park, Glastonbury & refusing to gig during England games37:10 – AFC Wimbledon, grassroots football & fan ownership41:45 – Football chants, Match of the Day & music in stadiums46:20 – Noel Gallagher's brutal songwriting advice50:05 – Touring chaos, Mexico gigs & running into the sea mid-show54:30 – “Games Gone”, VAR & what football has lost57:10 – Chris serenades Marcus Mumford as a farewell58:05 – Paddy Power segment01:02:40 – Listener messages01:08:20 – Final thoughts, teasers & episode wrap-upThis episode is sponsored by The AA, the UK's No.1 breakdown provider. Oh, and BTW, she just started her Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She highlights many "side quests", that include avocados to black holes, as learning opportunities and growth. Her mindset of "All you have to do is try" opened up so many pathways, and there is so much waiting for her. It is worth mentioning with all of her hard work that she graduated debt free and started graduate school fully covered. She is passionate about getting more involved with her community while breaking down barriers to make education accessible to all. Is the AI SOC a reality, or just vendor hype? In this episode, Antoinette Stevens (Principal Security Engineer at Ramp) joins Ashish to dissect the true state of AI in detection engineering.Antoinette shares her experience building detection program from scratch, explaining why she doesn't trust AI to close alerts due to hallucinations and faulty logic . Copyright law used to be considered a quiet, "boutique" field—but things have changed. With the rise of AI and global digital marketplaces, copyright has transformed into a high-stakes battlefield. We sit down with Kristyn Webb, a copyright litigator at Fishman Stewart, to discuss how technology is rewriting the concept of ownership and why firms are desperate for new experts in "Soft IP".In this episode, we cover:The AI Revolution: How the legal world is grappling with training data, generated outputs, and the lack of global consensus on AI copyright.Global Enforcement: Why copyright lawyers need to look beyond lawsuits and work with Customs and Border Protection to stop infringing goods before they enter the country. The Human Element: The importance of understanding "moral rights" and protecting an artist's legacy (and immortality).Career Advice: Why you shouldn't be discouraged if you don't land an IP job immediately, and how "side quests" like clerking can make you a better litigator.Click here to view the episode transcript. Thanks for checking us out! In this delightful episode we follow up on Mrs H's side quest, which we spoke about in the previous podcast. Essentially, she was challenged to film some naughty content and send it to Mr H whilst he was on his solo date. Did she film it? Did she send it? Was it sexy? For the answers to this and more, take a lovely listen to this show! We cover how we're feeling about pictures and videos, if that's changed following the side quest and what we might do in the future. Might be a handy discussion starter if you're talking about solo dates, filming content and what to do with pics and clips. Thanks for hopping into our bed!
In this not-episode, Madelyn and Emma talk about schools in video games and how to gamify putting together a lesson plan. Also featuring the lack of YA-marketed video games, the changing lives of high schoolers, and shipping your students.

What's better than getting a chance to meet a Witcher author? How about meeting two? When Whiskey with Witcher Special Correspondent Rebekah Rodriguez-Lynn heard that Andrzej Sapkowski and Joey Batey—whose debut novel, “It's Not a Cult,” was just released in the UK—were both embarking on book tours at the same time, she couldn't resist a trip overseas. And we couldn't resist having her on the podcast to tell us all about it! What was it like meeting and hanging out with Batey's fans? How does he balance acting, writing and performing with his band? And is Sapkowski really as crotchety as people seem to think? Plus, Rebekah reveals what the Witcher creator thinks about the book's English translation, why he doesn't have favorite characters and whether “Crossroads of Ravens” is likely to be the last Witcher novel. The answers just might surprise you!

Today, Stef Sanjati is a creator on YouTube with over half a million subscribers. Her content mostly focuses on her two greatest loves — makeup and gaming — often combining the two with her otherworldly video game-inspired beauty tutorials. Growing up in small-town Ontario, though, Stef was a quiet, introverted kid who was bullied a lot. For one thing, she looked different from her peers. Having been born with a rare genetic condition called Waardenburg Syndrome, Stef has several distinct physical features, including wide-set blue eyes and a natural streak of white hair. But there was something else that she didn't quite have the words for back then – something she felt closest to while playing as her favorite avatar in World of Warcraft, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game by Blizzard Entertainment. That something else was that Stef is trans. Choosing your player is a near-ubiquitous experience in gaming. Whether it's picking from a stock of ready-made options in Mario Kart or carefully calibrating a custom avatar in World of Warcraft, a gamer's choice of character has a huge impact on the gaming experience. But when a gamer is given the chance to choose, or even build, a brand new identity outside of the one they experience every day, the potential impact goes far beyond simple gameplay. Credits This episode was written and produced by Frannie Monahan and edited by Meg Cramer. Mix, sound design and music composition by Paul Vaitkus. "Hidden Levels" is a production of 99% Invisible and WBUR's Endless Thread. The Managing Producer for Hidden Levels is Chris Berube. The series was created by Ben Brock Johnson. Series theme by Swan Real and Paul Vaitkus. Series art by Aaron Nestor.
