In the hours after the attack on Iran, President Trump urged Iranians to "take over your government" and Prime Minister Netanyahu echoed that theme arguing that a regime change would be attainable. President Trump has since mused on who could lead Iran, saying they need "somebody that's there, that's currently popular, if there is such a person". But is it up to President Trump to decide? The Islamic Republic of Iran has led the country since 1979, so how easy would a regime change actually be? and what would that look like anyway? To help answer those questions Jesse is joined by Javed Ali is an associate professor at the University of Michigan. He has previously held positions at the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, and the FBI. He also held a senior role at the National Security Council under the Trump Administration.
The ability of an organization to innovate over and over again, for the long term, depends on leadership structure, culture, and systems. That's according to Harvard Business School professor Linda Hill, who has spent years researching the true drivers of innovation, taking lessons from the world's most successful companies. She explains why today's leaders need to shift from the focus on decision-making and producing to creating the conditions for collaboration, experimentation, and smart decision-making across teams, silos, and wider ecosystems. She shares examples from Mastercard, Pixar, and more and outlines some newly defined ways of looking at leadership roles: as Architects, Bridgers, and Catalysts. Hill's new book is Genius at Scale: How Great Leaders Drive Innovation.
Brighton Town Supervisor Bill Moehle wanted to serve one more term, but he got challenged by a member of his own party — Brighton Town Councilman Nate Salzman. It set up a tense designation battle, which Salzman won by a slim margin. Now, Moehle is stepping aside to allow for new leadership. But some told Salzman he was running too soon and should have waited his turn. We discuss his decision to take on an established Democrat and the difficult designation that ensued. Federal Chief Information Officer Greg Barbaccia will be adding two new titles — at least temporarily — to his work in government. The General Services Administration announced Thursday that Barbaccia will join the agency as the acting director of Technology Transformation Services. He'll be replacing Thomas Shedd, one of the few officials left at the agency who helped carry out the so-called Department of Government Efficiency's cost-cutting initiative last year. Shedd will remain at the agency as its senior advisor for fraud prevention, which the GSA said is “an area of increasing importance for the agency and the administration.” The federal CIO was also tapped as senior advisor to the GSA administrator, the agency said. In this role, advising former privacy equity executive Edward Forst, Barbaccia will focus on “emerging technologies, best practices in digital delivery, and cross-government collaboration.” The Pentagon will adhere to existing laws and regulations associated with surveillance, security and democratic processes as it fast-tracks the military's frontier AI adoption, but it won't permit companies supplying the technology to determine its rules for operation, Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Emil Michael told DefenseScoop. His comments come as the Defense Department is locked in a high-stakes dispute with Anthropic about the U.S. military's use of the startup's Claude AI model in real-world operations. During a meeting with a small group of reporters on the sidelines of the annual Microelectronics Commons summit Thursday, Michael provided updates on the department's GenAI.mil rollout and pushed for the ethics-related rift between the Pentagon and Anthropic to be resolved. “I believe and hope that they will ‘cross the Rubicon' and say, ‘This is common sense. The military has certain use cases. There are laws and regulations that govern how those use cases can be done. We're willing to comply with them,'” he said. It's Frozen at Walt Disney World This week at Walt Disney World felt more like winter than Florida. Cold temperatures settled across the resort, creating an unusual backdrop for park visits. While the chill surprised many guests, it also gave the parks a very different vibe, especially with lighter crowds and brisk evenings. A New Era of Disney Leadership Begins One of the biggest Disney stories in years officially became reality. Josh D'Amaro has been named the new CEO of The Walt Disney Company, while Dana Walden steps into the role of Chief Operating Officer. [caption id="attachment_79292" align="aligncenter" width="1180"] Sam and Greg reflected on how quickly this moment arrived, especially after previously speculating about future leadership. The conversation focused on what this leadership team could mean for the parks, creative direction, and long-term strategy across the company. Dinoland U.S.A. Is Officially Gone A major chapter at Disney's Animal Kingdom has closed. Dinoland U.S.A. has been removed from all park maps, and the final rides on DINOSAUR are now over. For many fans, this marks the end of an era tied to the park's opening-day identity. Greg shared his reactions as the attraction officially closed, while the conversation quickly turned toward what comes next. The focus now shifts to Tropical Americas, the next major transformation coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom. With Dinoland gone, the future of the area is officially underway. Character Meet-and-Greets Move Around the Parks As construction reshapes parts of Walt Disney World, some familiar experiences have relocated. Greg tracked down new locations for character meet-and-greets, including Chip and Dale, giving guests updated options for character photos and interactions. These changes highlight how the parks continue to adapt while larger projects move forward. Park News from Both Coasts and Beyond The show also covered a wide range of additional park news. At Disneyland, Savannah Banana Days are back, bringing high-energy fun and fan excitement to the West Coast. [caption id="attachment_71019" align="aligncenter" width="1920"] Savannah Bananas Come to Disneyland on May 28[/caption] Back in Florida, Zootopia Annual Passholder magnets are now available at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Meanwhile, Disney confirmed that Toy Story 5 activations are coming to the parks, adding even more Pixar presence for fans to enjoy. Greg also took the conversation outside the Disney bubble, sharing highlights from Universal's Mardi Gras celebrations, offering a quick look at what's happening across Central Florida theme parks. Popcorn Bucket Watch Continues No week would be complete without a fresh batch of popcorn buckets. New designs continue to appear at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, showing no signs of slowing down. Among the highlights is the new Disney California Adventure Pixar Pal-A-Round popcorn bucket, joining an already crowded lineup of collectibles. As always, Greg broke down what's new and what fans are lining up to buy. The Muppet Show Returns — and It's a Big Deal One of the most exciting moments of the week is the return of The Muppet Show. Sam and Greg both agreed that this comeback deserves time and attention, and it's a topic they plan to revisit in depth. Along with the show's return, the ongoing Missing Muppets series continues. This week added another character to the list of Muppets who didn't make the 70th Anniversary magnet set, keeping the conversation alive and growing. All That and More with Sam & Greg Live From freezing temperatures and leadership changes to park closures, popcorn buckets, and the return of the Muppets, it was another packed episode. Join Sam and Greg every week for This Week at Walt Disney World LIVE, where Disney news, park changes, and fan conversation come together.

On Friday, the President announced Kevin Warsh as his pick for Fed Chair. Warsh has a track record of hawkishness from his previous stint as Fed governor. He has also annunciated a broad philosophy that the Fed has moved too far from its original mandate by promoting ESG objectives and in enabling excessive federal spending through quantitative easing. That being said, he has argued more recently that the Fed should cut interest rates more aggressively.

Liz Tran, former venture capital executive and author of AQ, examines why agility—not raw intelligence or experience—has become the defining capability for leaders operating amid persistent uncertainty. She introduces Agility Quotient (AQ) as the capacity to adapt thinking, identity, and decision-making when familiar structures no longer apply. Tran explains how traditional markers of success, from credentials to past wins, can quietly become liabilities when environments shift. She describes how the pandemic, rapid AI adoption, and labor volatility exposed a gap between competence in stable conditions and effectiveness under change. Agility, in her view, is not a personality trait but a practiced discipline. Key insights from the discussion include: Why leaders who anchor identity too tightly to past success struggle most when conditions change, and how agility begins with loosening that attachment. How burnout often reflects a loss of agency rather than excessive workload, and why articulating a future-facing personal strategy restores momentum. What recent layoff patterns reveal about how organizations are selecting for adaptability rather than tenure or historical performance. How a shift from a "know-it-all" posture to a "learn-it-all" posture improves judgment, learning speed, and organizational resilience. Why confidence is built through repeated cycles of disruption and recovery, not through mastery alone. How leaders can use AI as leverage without eroding core human capabilities such as critical thinking, synthesis, and judgment. Tran also reflects on how early beliefs shape leadership behavior long after circumstances change, and why agility requires examining those assumptions rather than optimizing around them. She argues that reinvention is not episodic but continuous, and that career durability now depends on the ability to operate without fixed reference points. This episode offers a practical framework for executives seeking relevance and steadiness in volatile environments, positioning agility quotient as a core leadership capability for the next decade. In this episode of the Good Leadership Podcast, host Charles Good engages with Scott H. Young, a bestselling author and expert in learning strategies, to explore the intricacies of effective learning and improvement. They delve into the concept of 'ultra learning' and how structured practice, feedback, and observation can significantly enhance one's ability to master new skills. Scott shares insights from his latest book, 'Get Better at Anything,' emphasizing that improvement is not merely about effort but about designing effective learning systems that incorporate examples, practice, and feedback loops. The conversation also touches on the impact of technology and AI on learning, suggesting that while these tools can automate tasks, they also necessitate a deeper understanding of the skills that remain relevant in a rapidly changing environment.Throughout the discussion, Scott highlights the importance of understanding cognitive load and how managing it can lead to more effective learning experiences. He argues that many traditional learning methods fail to account for the complexities of real-world problem-solving, advocating for a more nuanced approach that includes observing experts and applying strong methods rather than relying solely on intuition. The episode concludes with practical advice for listeners on how to implement these strategies in their own learning journeys, reinforcing the idea that learning is a continuous process that requires adaptation and intentionality.Chapters00:00 Introduction to Leadership and Learning01:35 Scott Young's Journey into Learning02:44 The Tetris Example: Learning and Improvement Factors06:11 The Relevance of Learning in an AI World08:45 The Importance of Structured Learning11:10 Lessons from Ultra Learning14:37 Expert Problem Solving: The Case of Andrew Wiles18:09 Weak vs. Strong Methods in Problem Solving25:04 Creativity: The Role of Imitation in Originality25:26 The Evolution of Learning Methods29:54 Understanding Cognitive Load Theory33:35 Strategies for Effective Learning35:53 Key Insights and Takeaways

In this episode of What the Prophets Say, Emma Stark is joined by Jonah Wilson and Matt Johnson for a hilarious, honest, and weighty end-of-year conversation that turns sharply into a prophetic call: the Church has a leadership problem, and it's rooted in a lack of journeying with people.Together they unpack what it means to follow Jesus and lead others at the same time. From Peter's messy, Spirit-led learning curve to modern leaders who raise people up too quickly without real parenting and accountability, this episode challenges listeners to move from past-to-present thinking into present-to-future leadership. You'll hear why:Leadership requires releasing others, not gathering crowds“bigger buildings” can be the wrong dreamSome endings must be expedited to step into new mantlesHealthy ministry needs boundaries (“good fences make good neighbours”)Every leader needs wells, not constant drainsWe all need people beside us, and someone to pull upIf you've been faithful in the pew, the Bible study, or the background, consider this your push: it's time to lead something, journey with someone, and build a company of leaders for what's ahead.Download the PowerTV app for exclusive resources that go with the podcast: powertv.app.

As a leader, the more you show your human side and reach out to others for help, the stronger the chance that the people around you will start to do the same. There are plenty of leadership lessons for early-career faculty and beyond in this week's Faculty Factory Podcast interview, just in time for the holidays, with our new friend Nicole Jarrett, MD, FACS. We hear about her journey and the transition from faculty member to a formal leadership role as Division Chief. Dr. Jarrett serves as Division Chief of Hand Surgery in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is also an Assistant Professor and the Hand Surgery Fellowship Director at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The confidence to ask questions is an important sign of a confident leader. We all have days when we need help, and displaying the confidence to ask questions is essential. "It's okay to ask for help. We're all going to find ourselves in situations where we feel overwhelmed or where things aren't going right, and we need support,” she said. Midway through the discussion, Dr. Jarrett talks about the art of purposeful socializing. It's crucial to allocate time for social functions in our lines of work, especially in leadership roles, and taking a very strategic and efficient approach to how we engage in these functions pays dividends. It can also save time. “It's not all fun at these parties; you have a job to do. I'm very glad someone gave me that lesson, and I'm happy to pass it along to my faculty,” Dr. Jarrett discussed.

This month's Policy Pulse episode with Traci and co-host Bryan Driscoll is packed with the compliance updates every HR leader needs heading into 2026. With new EEOC leadership officially in place, federal enforcement is shifting, state protections are becoming more critical, and workplace culture decisions are getting harder to navigate.Spoiler alert: You're about to feel major whiplash as protections from the past four years (DEI initiatives, pregnancy accommodations, gender identity policies, and more) face rollbacks. But state laws might be your lifeline. This conversation covers everything from DEI audits and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act to religious and gender identity protections, reverse discrimination claims, and a cultural reality check about office returns. You'll hear why one company's Halloween costume mishap revealed their broken culture, what managers actually need to know about anti-harassment training, and the single question every HR leader should ask before mandating people back to the office. Plus, Bryan walks through the most pressing questions he's getting from clients right now about navigating these changes without losing employee trust. What We CoverNew EEOC leadership and the anticipated rollbacks to DEI programs, pregnant workers protections, and gender identity policiesWhy auditing your DEI initiatives now isn't optional (it's survival)The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act: expanded protections facing the axe and what state laws might save youReligious and gender identity conflicts: expect stronger protections for religious objections and narrower interpretations of gender identityWhen federal law disappears, state law is your safety net and some states have serious teethThe culture-killing move: mandating office returns without a legitimate business reasonHow convincing employees signals distrust and guarantees compliance theater instead of real engagementWhy one Halloween costume revealed everything wrong with a company's cultureAnti-harassment training for managers vs. company-wide training: why you need both and why most companies miss thisThe real question HR leaders should ask before sending that RTO mandate: would I come in for that reason?Key Quote"Your response or lack of response when someone crosses a line in your organization, that is your culture." - Bryan DriscollConnect with Bryan here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/bryanjohndriscoll/ Connect with Traci here: https://linktr.ee/HRTraciDisclaimer: Thoughts, opinions, and statements made on this podcast are not a reflection of the thoughts, opinions, and statements of the Company by whom Traci Chernoff is actively employed. Please note that this episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products or services. Gregory Copley reports that Chinese leader Xi Jinping's power has diminished, noting he is expected to step down as General Secretary at the upcoming fourth plenum, retaining only the powerless PRC presidency. Copley suggests the new leadership may reduce global aggression because the country lacks money, resources, and solidarity for a global campaign, and faces massive domestic food and water crises. He also addresses Tony Blair's "surreal politic" role in the Gaza plan and the fragility of the clerical leadership in Iran. 1922 SUN YAT SEN
