Encouragement keeps me going. Send me a text to let me know what you think of this episode! On this special episode of Man in the Arena I am joined by three outstanding coaches - Zayne Khan, Aaron Jacobs, and Tommy Geary - where we explore the importance of building friendships and how they impact our health. Friendships are more than just social bonds; they are a lifeline for our physical and mental health, particularly highlighted by the isolation experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. We examine how men traditionally forge connections through shared activities and how pandemic restrictions have intensified feelings of loneliness. This episode also provides practical strategies to build and nurture supportive friendships - emphasizing the power of vulnerability and engaging in local/community based activities. It doesn't stop there, we offer actionable steps to overcome challenges that hold us back as we make and keep our friends. 2022 was my 8th return to Burning Man and my 4th year camping and building with DISTRIKT. It's always a lot of blood, sweat, and beers being part of such a massive camp that provides so much. It is rewarding in ways I can't describe despite this year being particularly difficult. As for my set at DISTRIKT, I decided to go with a darker style than usual and the crowd seemed to love it. I wanted to represent the sound from my Shadow Wulf record label and I included a few grooves from the label. It was a blissful experience for me to see all the happy faces getting down in the heat with me. I hope you all enjoy this recording over and over again. I am looking forward to seeing you all in the dust once again 2023! ~Aaron Jacobs // Follow Aaron Jacobs @aaronjacobswulfpack facebook.com/aaronjacobswulfpack instagram.com/djaaronjacobs/ // Follow DISTRIKT NonProfit distrikt.org @distrikt-sound facebook.com/DISTRIKTorg instagram.com/distrikt_org DONATE - distrikt.org/donate // Follow DISTRIKT Sound Record Label distriktsound.com @distrikt-sound facebook.com/distriktsound instagram.com/distriktsound Photo by Delaney Rhoads

When Augustine Tang's father passed away, Augustine decided to inherit his taxi medallion – the license that had allowed his father to drive a yellow taxi cab in New York City for decades. But the medallion came with a $530,000 debt trap and years of struggling to escape it. Augustine's friend Kenny, a fellow taxi cab driver, committed suicide. So did several other drivers who were crushed under the weight of these impossible debts. In hopes of preventing another death, Tang joined a push by the local taxi drivers' union, to campaign for debt relief. And eventually, city resistance to worker demands culminated in a 15-day hunger strike to convince City Hall that immigrant taxi drivers deserved a fair deal. The drivers' struggles for livable working conditions showed how political power doesn't just come down to votes. It's a reminder how strong collective will can be, especially for those often silenced and ignored by our imperfect democracy. We are naturally storytellers and listeners. We connect through stories that deliver an emotional punch. For your current coaching clients, they can deepen your relationships, increasing success. For your potential clients, they can increase your memorability and attraction. Videos that incorporate storytelling work incredibly well for this. But what if you're camera shy? Uncomfortable with being vulnerable? What if you feel you're no good or don't have any stories worth telling? In this episode, I talk with Aaron Jacobs, CEO at Storied Coaching and OMH Creative about the power of stories in coaching. We discuss how stories are all around us, you just need to recognize and apply them. One of the best applications is by creating videos. It's really not as scary as it sounds, I promise. Aaron shares the uplifting fact that making stories more impactful and memorable can be learned. He even has a free guide to help you choose the right video equipment. I urge you to give it a try. You truly can uplevel your coaching through engaging storytelling, both on camera and off. “It's not a talent to get good being on camera, it's actually just a set of skills that anyone can learn.” – Aaron Jacobs What You'll Learn You already have a story Building confidence on camera Jarring your sense of self Marketing through vulnerable connection Directing your brain to recognize stories Moving from default stories 3 ways to up your camera game The “Wonderbra” of production Contact Info and Recommended Resources Connect with Aaron Jacobs FREE Ultimate Video Gear Guide: https://bit.ly/UGearGuide Learn from Aaron: The Storied Life Coaching Podcast StoriedCoaching OMHCreative StoriedTeams Linkedin - Aaron Instagram - Aaron / Storied Coaching Instagram - OMH Creative Linkedin - OMH Creative About Aaron (in his own words)… No Risk, No New Story. No New Story, No Change. I have completely re-written my story, stepped into a new version of my life, and now I know exactly how to help others do it as well. I can help you create a new story for your life too. I have helped hundreds of professionals learn how to identify current stories in their life that are holding them back from reaching their full personal and professional potential. People just like you who felt burned out and stuck. I lead an amazing team that helps businesses sell more by learning how to tell compelling stories and differentiate themselves by using the camera. Because you should be inviting your audience to engage with you. Encouraging them to laugh. Helping them feel a connection with their own personal identity that makes their world better than before they started watching you and hearing about what you offer. Then they become your evangelists. They help you achieve your business goals. You can learn to tell your audience a story worth listening to. Do it. Do it now. I am happy to help.
