Giving in gracefully. By Laurel Aspen - Listen to the ► Podcast at Steamy Stories. The red dress should do the trick, thinks Stella; it's certainly come up trumps before. Why she should have to go to the hassle of dolling herself up is another question altogether. This is the 1990s for goodness sake, For a woman to get taken seriously when building a business is an uphill struggle, trying to organise financing a nightmare. Countless boring ‘interviews' with stale, pale men who belittle or dismiss her suggestions.Thinking presentation important in this supposedly serious commercial world Stella initially tries prim and proper ensembles to create a respectable impression. Sadly this proves pointless, she can tell by their asinine questions the sexist pigs haven't bothered to read her profit projections. “Now what would a pretty young thing like you know about…” Because of a first class marketing degree and glowing placement assessments duh! One day, in a rush, Stella dons a skirt a little shorter and tighter than of late and observes the identikit man in a suit continually ogling her bum during their meeting. A loan is swiftly arranged and the penny drops. These middle-aged, mediocre managers aren't interested in her ideas so Stella might as well play them for fools. She dresses up to the nines, low neckline to reveal a Wonderbra (best invention of the ‘90s?) enhanced cleavage. Flaunts thighs, flashes stocking tops, demeanour a mix of teasing and wide-eyed naivety. Plays down to their expectations, flirts, flatters and cajoles. So easy, so predictable, and of course it works. She can put up with leers, and gropes as long as they advance the funds. Stella makes her confident entrance into yet another office: figure hugging red dress, long auburn hair, a killer combination. Hang on, this isn't right, where's the usual old bloke? A handsome - younger than expected - man behind the desk correctly interprets her bemused expression. “You were expecting Mr Mannering, he's on gardening leave,” explains the new incumbent. “I'm his stand-in, do please take a seat. Max Pemberton, pleased to meet you.” “And judging by your expression, not happy to be here? Stella Mills by the way, but you already know that”. “Well to be truthful I do find this place rather boring,” he responds with a wry smile, “although my employers have booked me into a very pleasant boutique hotel.” Might he be one of these new men she's read about in the Sunday papers, wonders Stella? Reputed to exist in cities, unseen out here in the sticks. Better not take anything for granted, safer to give the usual performance. Stella flashes a dazzling smile, crosses shapely legs and dangles a high-heeled shoe from her foot. “So you're a troubleshooter?” “Definitely not,” Max answers emphatically, ‘I usually deal with corporate concerns, just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and got lumbered, not that it's a burden to encounter you of course.“ I like this woman, thinks Max, feisty, attractive, and goodness those legs, most distracting. The feeling is mutual, Stella, similarly impressed, already detects an emerging spark between them. Arousal is in the air. “This town was voted one of Britain's best places to live, perhaps I can give you a tour, show you some interesting places?” she suggests archly. Max can certainly think of sites he'd like to see. Get a grip man. “The previous manager's unorthodox methods involved some very preferential loans to certain cronies, you excepted”, he adds hastily. “Perhaps you'd like to show me the financial projections to support your application?” Oh Mr City Slicker you're actually quite dishy, and better still taking me seriously, thinks Stella, pushing a sheaf of papers towards him. “I just need a small amount of extra capital…” Twenty minutes later the deal is done, her request approved. “Entirely on its professionally presented merits,” reveals Max. Stella's genuine expression of delight is however curtailed as he continues. “So your supercharged seduction routine was all for nothing.” “How was I to know?” replies Stella, hotly. “You're the first male in authority to take me seriously. If some letch getting a hard on secures what my business needs I reckon the end justifies the means.” “In a couple of years computers will make these decisions anyway,” shrugs Max good naturedly, “meanwhile, I take issue with your assumptions about me.” “Do you indeed, because I take issue with why my previous applications were denied.” “Why don't we take this outside the workplace and discuss it over dinner,” suggests Max, “I could do with some intelligent conversation.” “Are you propositioning me?” “Would you like to be propositioned?” “We'll see…” “I'll take that as a date. Say 7pm? Wear the red dress.” Cheek, thinks Stella, but does so anyway: a girl knows when to give in gracefully. A modest amount of food, a generous quantity of wine: conversation kindling a flame, part seduction, part sparring, tiptoeing towards who knows where. “So I'm wrong to complain?” Stella pouts provocatively. “Hardly, but the expectation I'd behave as badly as the rest of my gender is unfair,” answers Max evenly. “Your honour slighted?” “Quite so – I think reparations are in order.” “And how might you go about that?” Stella already suspects she knows. “If you really want to find out go up to my room while I settle the bill, here's the key,” “You didn't answer my question,” Stella needs to hear Max say it out loud. He lowers his voice, speaks in in a calm authoritative tone. “I'm going to spank you.” A silence hangs in the air. Almost imperceptibly her breathing quickens. No refusal, no outrage. Without a word she takes the keys and proceeds purposefully out of the restaurant, head high, hips swaying alluringly, controlling her own destiny even in submission. When he enters the room Stella is stood looking out of the window and doesn't immediately turn to greet him, hands on hips, an implicit challenge. Seizing the initiative Max takes her by the shoulders and spins her round. Head swimming, manicured fingers gripping his upper arms for support Stella responds with a fervent kiss, entranced by his masculinity, his smell, his strength. Being assertive has become exhausting; she's ready to be led by lust, compelled by this entrancing man. Max's hands roam eagerly across her body, finally alighting on Stella's shapely rear. Reluctantly parting from their passionate clinch he steers her towards a small sofa, pulling her unresisting, face down across his lap. A much anticipated unveiling follows, Max raising the hem of her dress to Stella's trim waist with tantalising slowness to reveal a wonderfully firm and inviting bottom framed by nylons and suspenders. “Very masterful,” Stella observes, jiggling her derriere enticingly, “I hope you can deliver what you promised.” In response Max delicately pulls down her panties and rests his palm on the now fully exposed cheeks, sending a shiver through Stella's body. “So you think I'm going to let you smack my bare bottom?” she enquires, the faintest tremble in her tone, body drawstring taut and quivering with nervous expectation. Actions speak louder than words. Pining her calves and hands to forestall any struggles Max delivers a prolonged series of ringing slaps to the entire surface of Stella's unprotected posterior. Oh it stings, it smarts, it hurts so wonderfully, the heat quickly spreading to intimate areas, sending Stella's innate sensuality into overdrive. An intriguing thought crosses her mind: in charge in the boardroom, compliant in the bedroom; that could work. When Max finally relaxes his hold her obedience is no longer in question, the visual evidence of the spanking's stimulating affect abundantly clear as Stella unabashedly parts her thighs to reveal the dewy delights at the apex. “Getting very wet and turned down there,” Max observes. “You're not doing so badly either,” his insistent erection presses hard into her upper leg. “That's quite enough punishment thank you,” with surprising composure she slides elegantly off his lap, “let's see what you've got to offer me.” Adroitly undoing his trousers Stella gives an inadvertent “Wow!” of admiration as Max's swollen cock springs free. “I am definitely going cowgirl on that!” Decorously discarding knickers she faces him to enthusiastically straddle the rampant rod. Caught off guard Max blinks entranced as Stella raises her skirt, deftly separates engorged labial folds with brightly painted fingernails and impales her pussy on his pulsating prick. Dominant role temporarily abandoned Max discovers her magnetic sexuality too much to resist. “After such a build up I do hope you're going to fuck me very thoroughly Mr Manager”, she purrs provocatively. Of course he does. Letting Stella take the lead Max concentrates on liberating her boobs, tonguing and squeezing each nipple in turn to the evident pleasure of the putative entrepreneur enthusiastically riding his cock. Grabs her glowing cheeks while thrusting lustily, Stella crying out at the conflicting sensory signals, catalysts to erotic pleasure. “Take it all and take it deep,' he urges, lost in the moment. “Oh yes, make me climax,” she gasps, animatedly rocking against his girth, forcing her clitoris forward to achieve fiercer friction. “You want to come? Max senses they're both on the brink. "Please, please, please,” Stella feels mastered, taken, but thrilling complicit in her own acquiescence. “Don't stop, it feels so good, do it, do me…” Her thighs shudder and an orgasm engulfs her, Max losing his load at the same time. When at long last she attempts to move the intensity of their coupling has momentarily left Stella shaky and unable to stand. Fortunately there's no need, Max easily lifts and carries her across to the bed and lays her, arse glowing, pussy leaking, face down. “I'm going to fuck you from behind this time, slow and steady.” Max allows a dramatic pause: “It's non-negotiable.” Two people sort through their possessions; preparing to move from the house they've lived in for many years. She's the CEO of a large company, he having forsaken commerce to work as a landscape gardener “Remember this red dress,” asks Stella pulling it from the back of a wardrobe. “I forgotten I still owned it.” “Put it on,” Max says, “let's see if it can still work magic.” By Laurel Aspen for Literotica

On this week's show Vertical Framing of content is becoming a big thing now. Will this affect how movies and TV are shot? A listener talks about how he solved his parent's remote control problem. We also read your emails, and we had a bunch of good ones. We also take a look at the week's news.  News: Disney Expects to Pay Comcast at Least $8.6 Billion to Buy Out Hulu Stake NFL Sunday Ticket price on YouTube TV gets a 50% cut through the rest of the season Roku Reports Solid Growth in Q3 Walmart+ Comes With Free Paramount+, 10 Cents Off Gas, & More For Just $4.16 a Month if You Pay Annually During Its Black Friday Sale Other: Are Dodgers Games On Spectrum SportsNet+ Streaming? Disney's ESPN Challenge:  Keeping a Cash Cow From Keeling Over Vertical Framing of content What is Vertical Content? Vertical content is a media type consumed vertically on the screen. It is unlike horizontal content that is seen on desktop computers and television. This content type is a natural progression that stems from the growing popularity of mobile devices. Because more people are using smartphones, which generally have a vertical orientation, they are now browsing content online using the default vertical orientation of mobile devices. Just for Social? Producers understand that some of what is being shot will end up on social media in the form of advertisements. But simply cropping a movie will not yield quality results. Instead, shots are being redone on set with social in mind. To the point where special brackets are made to accommodate flipping a camera on it's side. Right now this is limited to advertisements but what happens if they shoot entire features this way? Dual Framing Someone who's become particularly used to dealing with it is Anna Gudbrands, a London-based cinematographer whose work includes short-form pieces for Relentless, Wonderbra and Zegna's campaign with Jose Mourinho. Gudbrands' recent projects have, she says, heavily involved dual framing.  “I've been doing a lot of fashion and skincare in the summer... almost every single job I do now, they want an option for 9:16 which is Instagram, but they want the hero to be 16:9. It's a situation that inevitably involves compromise. Should Studios Start Using Dual Framing in Feature Films? Remote option An Idea from a listener Rob Listening to this week's show and the discussion for a remote that's easy to use, I will mention another option. The Echo Cube, I have it set up for my parents and they love it. They can tell the TV to turn on or off, the Ring doorbell shows up in the corner if someone's at the door, and now after switching to YouTube TV fully they can just tell it to “----tune to ABC'' and it works, with DirecTV it wouldn't always respond correctly to changing channels via voice. I have also upgraded to the premium Echo remote with the 2 programmable buttons along with the 4 standard ones. Now they have quick buttons to the services they use the most, YTTV (button 1), Peacock (button 2) and the ones for Prime, Netflix etc. The other great thing about this option for them is they can just say “Echo watch the Thursday Night game” and it switches over. (I have changed the Cube's name from Alexa to Echo to keep the Kitchen Echo from responding).  Honestly the hardest part for them was getting out of the habit of channel numbers and going with channel names-they were so used to “Tune to Channel 7” instead of “tune to ABC'' etc. But now that they have gotten the hang of it they really like it, my Mom has no issue changing to Peacock to watch Days of Our Lives and then changing back to traditional TV.  One other note on the remote, if you use the upgraded remote with YTTV you can change channels up/down like linear TV and if you change around your guide to be those you watch most of the time it actually is a nice option.  I am personally using an Apple TV that can offer some of these same things, but YTTV hasn't enabled channel changing via a Home Pod so at this point I'd say the Echo beats the Apple TV if you mostly watch traditional TV.

If You Stink At Video... Try Cologne?! (Episode 016) What if I told you that you could level up your performance in virtual meetings by wearing cologne or perfume?! This is Dr. Tori. Welcome to another episode of the Influence Every Day podcast. Today I want to talk to you about a study. [Van den Berghe, P. L., & Mace, R. (1987). The influence of fragrance on women's perceptions of men's physical attractiveness and personality. Ethology and Sociobiology, 8(3), 173-186.] In this study, 200 women were asked to rate men on their attractiveness. The men were rated when they were wearing cologne, and they were rated when they were not wearing cologne. And it turns out that they were rated as more attractive while wearing cologne. Here's the thing. Those men were on video. The cologne couldn't even be detected by the women. The men, themselves, were affected by the cologne. Their response to how they felt about themselves made them more attractive. THE most important rule of influence is to MANAGE YOUR STATE. Manage your state. So many things that depend on it your body language, your tone of voice, your pace of speech, how you establish rapport, if you even establish it with somebody, your performance at tasks, your memory, your learning, your recall, the stories available to you, etc All of these are state-dependent. There are lots of things that relate to and make up your state. It's not only mood and emotions. Are you tired? Do you have to use the bathroom? Is there something that is causing some sort of urgency? Like you have to be somewhere, somewhere? Or did you just leave an argument? You're physiologically still revved up from that argument. -----------Want to level-up your performance on video meetings or recordings?Check this out: Video Influence & Remote Rapport----------- 1975 WonderBra commercial. (referred to by my hypnotherapy teacher). “When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you look great.” When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you look great. Pay attention to that last part. “When you feel good, you look great.” That essentially sums up this study. The men were more attractive when they felt better about themselves, and in this case, cologne was the thing that made them feel better about themselves. It reflected in their body language and how they carried themselves. What will it take for you to feel good about yourself? Sometimes it's cologne or perfume. Sometimes it's the type of clothes you wear. Sometimes it's what happened in the hour before the thing, right? Sometimes it's whichever way you manage your state. Too often, though, we're winging it. Check in with yourself. What is my state now and what will it take for me to be in the optimum state for that thing I'm about to do? And in this case, logging in to a video meeting. If you have to put on perfume, put on cologne, do it. Test it out. Here's what I've done: I have created a PDF called 101 Ways to Manage Your State and you can download that at DrTori.com/101. -----------101 Ways To Manage Your State (PDF): https://www.drtori.com/101----------- You can download this PDF and just look at it. There are 101 ways there, but there are thousands more that exist to manage your state. Pick one and try it and see if that helps in your next interaction. Before you walk into that meeting, before you log into that meeting, before you walk into your home, before you greet your kids or your significant other, before you go in and ask a hard question or have a difficult conversation, try one of these things and see how you do. Be deliberate about managing your state, especially for things that are important to you. Go ahead. Download that PDF 101 Ways to Manage Your State (DrTori.com/101). If that one thing doesn't work for you, then try something else. If you've tried meditation and that doesn't work, try something else. If you tried journaling and that doesn't work, try something else. You've tried exercise, you try new things, and if those things aren't for you, try something else. It's tailored to you and it's up to you. Pay attention to your state before you go into things. Your state really matters to how the rest of the interaction goes. It sets the stage, so be deliberate about it Again: DrTori.com/101. I'll see you in the next episode. -----------101 Ways To Manage Your State (PDF): https://www.drtori.com/101-----------This is only the end of today's show if you let it be. Max's hands roam eagerly across her body, finally alighting on Stella's shapely rear.Reluctantly parting from their passionate clinch he steers her towards a small sofa, pulling her unresisting, face down across his lap. A much anticipated unveiling follows, Max raising the hem of her dress to Stella's trim waist with tantalising slowness to reveal a wonderfully firm and inviting bottom framed by nylons and suspenders.“Very masterful,” Stella observes, jiggling her derriere enticingly, “I hope you can deliver what you promised.” In response Max delicately pulls down her panties and rests his palm on the now fully exposed cheeks, sending a shiver through Stella's body.“So you think I'm going to let you smack my bare bottom?” she enquires, the faintest tremble in her tone, body drawstring taut and quivering with nervous expectation. When Max finally relaxes his hold her obedience is no longer in question, the visual evidence of the spanking's stimulating affect abundantly clear as Stella unabashedly parts her thighs to reveal the dewy delights at the apex.“Getting very wet and turned down there,” Max observes.“You're not doing so badly either,” his insistent erection presses hard into her upper leg. “That's quite enough punishment thank you,” with surprising composure she slides elegantly off his lap, “let's see what you've got to offer me.” Adroitly undoing his trousers Stella gives an inadvertent “Wow!” of admiration as Max's swollen cock springs free. “I am definitely going cowgirl on that!”Decorously discarding knickers she faces him to enthusiastically straddle the rampant rod. Caught off guard Max blinks entranced as Stella raises her skirt, deftly separates engorged labial folds with brightly painted fingernails and impales her pussy on his pulsating prick. Dominant role temporarily abandoned Max discovers her magnetic sexuality too much to resist.“After such a build up I do hope you're going to fuck me very thoroughly Mr Manager”, she purrs provocatively.Of course he does. Letting Stella take the lead Max concentrates on liberating her boobs, tonguing and squeezing each nipple in turn to the evident pleasure of the putative entrepreneur enthusiastically riding his cock. Grabs her glowing cheeks while thrusting lustily, Stella crying out at the conflicting sensory signals, catalysts to erotic pleasure.“Take it all and take it deep,' he urges, lost in the moment.“Oh yes, make me climax,” she gasps, animatedly rocking against his girth, forcing her clitoris forward to achieve fiercer friction.“You want to come? Max senses they're both on the brink."Please, please, please,” Stella feels mastered, taken, but thrilling complicit in her own acquiescence. “Don't stop, it feels so good, do it, do me…” Her thighs shudder and an orgasm engulfs her, Max losing his load at the same time. When at long last she attempts to move the intensity of their coupling has momentarily left Stella shaky and unable to stand. Fortunately there's no need, Max easily lifts and carries her across to the bed and lays her, arse glowing, pussy leaking, face down.“I'm going to fuck you from behind this time, slow and steady.” Max allows a dramatic pause: “It's non-negotiable.”________Two people sort through their possessions; preparing to move from the house they've lived in for many years. She the CEO of a large company, he having forsaken commerce to work as a landscape gardener“Remember this red dress,” asks Stella pulling it from the back of a wardrobe. “I forgotten I still owned it.”“Put it on,” Max says, “let's see if it can still work magic.”By Laurel Aspen for Literotica. -

The Coronavirus pandemic caused a shock to the grocery retail sector like none we've seen before. But with great challenges, often come great innovations. Technology now plays a bigger role in the average consumer's shopping experience than ever before and the changes we were all forced to make have opened the doors to even more innovation in the future. In this episode of the Table Talk podcast, Stefan Gates is joined by two experts to look at how technology has altered the grocery shopping landscape, and how it could shape its future too. They look at the biggest technological successes in the sector, as well as the biggest failures - the big winners and losers of the past few years. Will QR codes still play a key role a decade from now? How can mobile apps transform the shopping experience? Will automation become the norm? And what could all of the above mean for employment, data protection, and the price of food? Will blockchain develop to become the backbone of the grocery retail sector? Or will it be left looking like little more than a broken promise? Will the Metaverse become the new digital hypermarket? Or will it be consigned to the trash can? And which technological advances will we and won't we still be talking about in 10 years' time? How the Pandemic Has Changed the Bra Season 1, Episode 7At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many predicted that the bra was fast-tracked for extinction. Instead, past styles were largely retired in favour of more comfortable options. What does the change mean? From tight-laced corsets to push-ups, the idea that bras aren't supposed to be comfortable has been around for over a century. But, as people increasingly dress for themselves, we've begun to reconsider the purpose of our undergarments. This week on The Deep Dive, Sheena Rossiter speaks with writer Nicole Schmidt, an associate editor at The Walrus, about how the pandemic has changed the bra. Prior to joining The Walrus, Schmidt was an assistant editor at Toronto Life. She has written for Maclean's, the National Post, Yahoo, and Vice.Toronto-based illustrator Kate Traynor also speaks about her illustration for this story. Traynor's work has been featured in publications such as Broadview, Quill and Quire, and Reader's Digest. In this episode:We hear why Schmidt wanted to work on a feature about how the pandemic has changed the bra. We learn the full history of the bra: from its first appearance in ancient Greece to the corset to the WonderBra. Schmidt then tells us about a popular TikTok challenge where women are cutting up their old padded bras to make bralettes, and some more new trends in bras.  She then talks about the rise in smaller and newer brands for women's underwear during the pandemic. Then we hear from Kate Traynor about her inspiration for the story's illustration. She describes how she drew from her own experience with bras to arrive at the final illustration. Finally, we check in on what we're talking about this week at The Walrus.Links:Underwire Under Fire: How the Pandemic Changed the Bra Hope You're Well Additional Links:Chrystia Freeland Wants to Fix the Twenty-First CenturyEmbedded with the .01 PercentHow to Train a Ukrainian Soldier Facebook @thewalrusTwitter @thewalrus Instagram @thewalrusLooking to get in touch about the podcast? Sarah & Joe have much debate over the title of this episode, before launching into an extended, uncomfortable look at Sex.com and the adult website industry, before pivoting to safer tech spaces like Amazon and Yahoo and Webcrawler. Bottled water giant Aquafina emerged that year, while the Wonderbra made its American debut, and the Sony Playstation made waves overseas. The engineering marvel The Chunnel opened (and the hosts reveal their complete ignorance as to how this structure functions), as did Chicago's United Center, which gets them off on a whole different series of tangents. Many, many cameos and segways along the way (including the original patent for The Segway, incidentally), featuring the various video game systems of the '90s, longtime urban myths about Mountain Dew, the differences between whitehouse.gov and whitehouse.com, how great Joe's dad was as a build-your-own video game character, Sarah's adventures with water and wine bras, speculation about who Brian Pinkerton is, Viktor Stalberg's only career hat trick, and that one time Pete Townshend sang "My Generation" at a Who concert. It's wall-to-wall topics and information in this chock-a-block thirty-second episode!

Kia quietly touted a 2500-kilo tow capacity for this vehicle, as early as January, and a lot of people waited a lot of months specifically for that. Unfortunately, the WonderBra effect here proved something of a let-down, and the vehicle lost a complete cup-size, lobbing with a 2000-kilo tow limit, not the anticipated 2500. I hate it when that happens. And many of you - presumably those among you who were waiting for the metaphoric double-Ds to be unleashed - have since reached out to me, somewhat deflated. I am reading some comments that the tow capacity is in fact going to be only 2t. Even the spec sheet on the Kia au website lists tow capacity as 2000kg. Can you confirm what the truth is? It would be a deal breaker for me as I tow a horse float that is just over 2t fully loaded. Thanks. - ptvfr80 Adding fuel to the fire of tow capacity confusion/conspiracy was this, which was mentioned a lot in comments and e-mails: I was interested to see that in Australia the braked towing limit is 2000kg whereas in NZ and the UK the 2.2 diesel is rated at 2500kg. I rang Kia and they couldn't explain it. Maybe it does relate to different tow ball designs in the various countries as the weights otherwise seem to be the same. Shame though. I took the GT-Line for a short test drive and was very impressed. It looks great too. - Mike Langran This of course is quite true - the Sheep-Shaggistani Kia website does list the Kiwi tow capacity at 2.5 tonnes, both in the online specs and the downloadable PDF brochure. I’m no self-appointed Kia apologist. It’s a proper egg-on-face event for them. That disappearing 500 kilos. I’m sure they had meetings about it. I’m further sure they wished they had just shut up about this, at the outset. Because with no pre-emptive commentary, there’s no vector for public disappointment. So I just want to lay out how this happened, and what gives - literally. And then we’ll crunch the numbers on what you can tow with a new Sorento, and how much payload you can carry when it’s at its maximum tow capacity. Up front though, this vehicle still represents a substantial tow capacity upgrade in real terms. And it’s currently up there with equal class leaders in this category. So, it’s hardly a disgrace in those terms. Sorento is not trying to be a Pajero Sport in terms of heavy lifting. The two tonnes carries over, but the towball download on new Sorento has increased from 100 kilos in the old model to 200 kilos on this one. And in practise this makes achieving two tonnes easier, because it can be quite difficult to limit the towball to just five per cent of aggregate trailer mass on some Aussie-spec trailers. (Typically they’re designed for 10 per cent.) Also worth acknowledging: Mazda CX-8 and CX-9 offer 2000 kilos with 150 on the ball - but both of them have a space-saver spare, which is a comprehensive pain for towing. Kluger has a full-sized spare and 2000-kilo max tow capacity, but Toyota doesn’t list towball download in its specs. And Santa Fe has 2000 kilos maximum, full-sized spare, so that’s good, but (out of the box) just 100 kilos on the towball. You can upgrade that to 150 if you fit the Genuine Load Assist Kit (which is a replacement set of rear springs, basically). I did that on my Santa Fe and did a 2000-kilo tow test with it. That worked fine. It towed brilliantly, but again, you need to work hard to tweak the towball download down to achieve not more than 7.5 per cent of ATM.

Hulme, which is owned by a private equity firm, stopped manufacturing and outsourced production. Around 30 employees were laid off, and only a small marketing and sales team remain. “I’ve had a lot of difficult conversations over last year,” Powell says. “I’ve tried to always be honest, as kind as you can, as supportive as you can, but not hide anything.” J.W. Hulme opened a retail store in St. Paul with plans to focus on broadening its brand. Powell shares her perspective on retail today, and how a 114-year old company can pivot while staying true to its character. She also talks about the challenges of U.S. manufacturing of artisan goods and the perception of the heritage movement, where buzz “doesn’t always translate into sales.” Having held management roles with a number of consumer product goods companies both large and small, including Bali, Wonderbra and American Giant, Powell describes the differences, and the perspective of coming in as a leader, not a founder. “It’s really healthy to have both of those in the organization. The founder can be almost irrationally attached to certain things in the business. Someone coming in can feel as passionate about driving success. But you might have a different perspective and a little less deep attachment.” After our wide-ranging conversation with Powell, which includes her self-care techniques to be a more effective leader, we go Back to the Classroom with the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business. Associate Professor Patricia Hedberg offers advice on leading through turmoil, and accepting that not everything works out as you might hope. “Failure is a beautiful moment for learning,” Hedberg says. “The idea is that by taking risks, you learn a lot about yourself and how to do it better the next time."

Is there really a Retail Apocalypse? Why is the retail industry in the state its in and how can property owners help to rebuild towards a brighter retail future? Mark Pilkington is author of the newly-released book, Retail Therapy: why the industry is broken and what can be done to fix it. Mark has enjoyed a successful and varied career in retail. After graduating from INSEAD, he joined Cortaulds, later becoming CEO of Gossard where he was responsible for initiating the huge global success of the Wonderbra. He then founded Splendour.com, the world’s first direct-to-consumer commerce brand, with the backing of Marks & Spencer. Subsequently, he was CEO of KOJ Group, a leading retailer with 850 stores across the middle east and north Africa. Currently, he is director of MarkPilkington.net, providing strategic advice to brands and retailers In this podcast:Is Retail Apocalypse a hyperbolic way to describe the state of the industry? Can we better understand the future of the industry by really learning how it has reached its current state? How can the physical store compete in the digital world? How, in Mark’s view of the new retail paradigm, physical stores can be a key advantage for even direct-to-consumer e-commerce brandsFor his favourite building, Mark opts for a slightly wider view in Haussmann’s vision of Paris, including the view down the Champs Elyseé, for its role as a work of art.The recommended addition to the Building Our Future reading list is:Tony Robbins, Awaken The Giant WithinMark’s emerging technology to keep an eye on is the emergence of 3D printing as a conduit for providing mass consumer customisation at-scale.You can find & follow Mark on social media via Twitter for further information.
