Although Ryan was determined to make this interview a train wreck, I’m happy to let you know I found tremendous value in everything he had to share. I really look forward to hearing what YOU took from this episode and how it might change the way you view your relationship between creating and sharing the work that matters most to you. “And it's so fun to believe that the side we've chosen is the right one. I'm really fascinated with that too, that I think you would find very few people who aren't the hero of their own story. Like we just need to be, to keep going. And so then you find all the people that are the heroes of their own story that agree with you. And then you just form your tribe of people that are right and know that capitalism's terrible. And I know that advertising makes me sick and I know that film's better than digital and I just sit and marinate in those beliefs. But if I had been born as a different person, I would believe exactly what they believe. I know I would. It's just so fun to sit and feel our feels and feel the cosmic truth of them. And then to think that these are so insanely subjective and it trips me out because I don't know how to be anything else other than what I am. Yeah. I can hear you and feel the truth of things for me. And then I can also feel that if I was a different person, I wouldn't feel them at all.” -Ryan Muirhead See more of Ryan’s work on his website and follow him on instagram. At age 19, after spending two years planning, training, and fundraising over a quarter of a million dollars, Ryan successfully flew solo around the world. This expedition broke the world record for the youngest pilot and first teenager to circumnavigate the globe solo in a single engine airplane. 24,000 nautical miles, 35 destinations, and 15 countries providing some profound life lessons. Although Ryan’s world flight brought its own brand of adversity, the true test would come just two years later. A normal day at work turned into anyone’s worst nightmare. A plane crash that occurred after liftoff left Ryan in the hospital, fighting for his life. Six months of hospitalization, over a year-and-a-half in rehabilitation, and the ongoing struggles of living with a spinal injury transformed Ryan into a different person. “I may have lost out physically, but I gained mentally in ways I never knew possible.”

Back to 1961 we go for the acclaimed gothic ghost story that set the standard for women in nightgowns creeping around a dark manor holding a candelabra! Based on a play based on a novel, and co-written by the great Truman Capote, “The Innocents” took us into very interesting territory discussing: what is real and what is in our minds, AND; how just a seed of an idea can send us down a spiral that can (and does) end in tragedy. Although Ryan and Tim rated this film differently, they both agree that it is chock-full of greatness, earning it a “buy” and a “stream” (respectfully). Disruptive CEO Nation

Bio: Ryan Preisner is the co-founder and CEO of boldSOCKS. In his current role, Ryan oversees all of the backend business processes and operations needed to run and grow the company. After graduating college, Ryan found a job in a corporate environment working for a large food service distributor as a Marketing Analyst. He found his interests and skills leading him towards opportunities to build efficiencies in business through systems and data. This prompted Ryan to go back to college to continue studies in Computer Information Systems. Ryan was promoted to become the Product Data Supervisor and was able to use his skills to help the organization solve complex data challenges. This included building systems used to create new product data for over 35,000 items by large teams requiring coordinated approvals and hand-offs. Although Ryan found success in his role, he lacked contentment and began dreaming of entrepreneurial ideas. Using the skills obtained on the job and in school, Ryan began experimenting with starting his own venture on the side. This included buying and selling snowboards on eBay, buying pallets of returned electronics, building a snowboarding app, and eventually boldSOCKS.com. boldSOCKS was born out of Ryan's desire to have fun with his work apparel and identifying an opportunity for a sock retailer to carry the best brands and patterns of socks. From the beginning, Ryan had a desire to use boldSOCKS for good and have a mission beyond simply selling socks. This originally started with what they called Bold Contributions, but has evolved into strategically supporting clean water initiatives with the Statement Sockwear brand, ensuring ethical production of their products, and developing a company culture that cares for all it impacts. Ryan was born, raised and still resides in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area with his wife Sarah. They have three children (Breckin, Greydin, and Emberlynn). In his free time, Ryan enjoys playing hockey, hiking, helping his wife in their garden, and spending weekly one-on-one time with their kids. Ryan Roff Ryan Roff is a social entrepreneur with a passion for using business to create measurable change and social justice. He is an owner of boldSOCKS in Grand Rapids, MI and the co-founder of Statement Sockwear (a sock brand with a social enterprise model). Ryan represents the creative and marketing side of boldSOCKS. He currently oversees the strategic and creative development of the brands under the boldENDEAVORS umbrella (boldSOCKS.com, boldSOCKS, boldSOCKS Retail and Statement Sockwear) and casts the long-term vision for the company. Before boldSOCKS, Ryan worked as a the packaging coordinator at a major foodservice distributor where he was able to blend strategic brand decisions, art direction, and project management while coordinating the creative development of over 1,000 pieces of packaging artwork and the redesign of four private brands. He then moved to a mid-sized agency where he managed the strategic development and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns across various channels and tactics that included apps, web, print, trade shows, social media and videos. Ryan now lives on the Northside of Grand Rapids with his wife Brooke and one-year son. Together, they enjoy biking, hiking, camping, climbing, cookouts and being outside. While on the Northside, Ryan and his wife enjoy connecting neighbors through social gatherings and recently developed the Northside Happy Hour—a group of more than 30 people that get together from the neighborhood to enjoy a cocktail every month. A first grader is the highest-paid YouTube star of 2018, according to Forbes. Eight-year-old Ryan from the United States stars in his own YouTube channel called “Ryan ToysReview.” The channel features videos that show Ryan unboxing toys, playing with them, and happily reacting to them, as a form of review. He reportedly earned $22 million through this channel in the past year. The online celebrity currently boasts of more than 17 million subscribers—mainly elementary school kids—and around 26 billion views. To determine Ryan's estimated earnings, Forbes calculated his revenue from June 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018. The publication used data from several online sources and exclusive information from some industry insiders. Forbes found that $1 million of Ryan's earnings were from sponsored videos, while about $21 million came from advertisements that play before his videos. In addition, Ryan earned money from numerous advertising deals. Last August, he launched his first toy and apparel line in partnership with famous US retailer Walmart. Called “Ryan's World,” the collection features toys that Ryan loves to play with.  Furthermore, it was announced last October that Ryan's channel content will be distributed on streaming sites Hulu and Amazon. Ryan's income was able to surpass other YouTube personalities' earnings, including those of American actor Jake Paul, Dude Perfect's five-man sports crew, gamer DanTDM, and makeup guru Jeffree Star. Although Ryan earns a lot of money, 15% of his income is put in a special account because of his age. This account will be protected until he becomes of legal age.

Ryan Patrick is a natural, passionate performer with the ability to deliver an unforgettable show. Whether it is chilling at a sexy lounge, soaking up the rays at a pool party, or rocking it out at the club or after-party, Ryan has a versatile sound that will have everyone grooving. Although Ryan found the electronic music scene a little later in life, right from the very beginning it became his passion, and it has had a lasting impact on his life. His early exposure and influences came from the dark and hard Techno/Minimal sounds which dominate Detroit’s underground music scene, and it quickly became his preferred sound early on. Those roots in the Techno/Minimal style tend to find a special place in his performances and recordings, and Ryan’s passion for that style has opened doors for him and his burgeoning DJ career, leading to opportunities to open for some of the legends in Detroit Techno, including Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, and Stacey Pullen. Over time and with more exposure to other genres of EDM, Ryan has come to identify with a sexier groove in his preferred sound and track selection. At this point in his music career, it is with an open-minded mentality that we find him now including a broader variety of genres in his sets, from House to Tech House, and also delving into Deep House sounds. Through Ryan’s embrace of all styles of electronic music and the scene that accompanies it, he can be characterized as a true connoisseur of electronic dance music. His newfound versatility and creativity is the trademark of his current sets, and it has won him fans the world over. H3LIUM: https://www.facebook.com/groups/H3LIUMDeejays/
