We've all heard the saying, "Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail" This week Eddie and Bennett talk about the next two chapters of "Extreme Ownership" Plan, and Leading up and down the Chain of Command. You won't want to miss this episode!
How tolerant are you when it comes to things you don't know about? How expansive is your emotional literacy? How willing are you to have hard conversations? How often do you lean in when it becomes uncomfortable? This week Bennett and Eddie talk about things that most only whisper about. Let's all muster up a bit of courage and have some really hard conversations while keeping things civil! There are always 3 sides to every conversation. What I say and believe, what you say and believe, and then there is the truth somewhere in the middle.
First, find out what the most important things are that need to get done, then do it! If you want things done quicker and more efficiently, give your people the power and authority to do the work! That's what Bennett and Eddie talk about this week, Chapters 7 and 8, Prioritize and Execute and Decentralized Command.
Have you ever sat in a meeting and listened to a business plan and thought to yourself, "wow now that is a lofty plan!" Or perhaps you are with your significant other as they begin to unfold their grandioso idea of what your next weekend is shaping up to look like? Or on the battlefield when that well-meaning Lieutenant cracks open his planning book and spreads out his battle map over the hood of your truck and the lines and shapes you see before you have the makings of what is sure to lead to someone walking away with a Medal of Honor ... but it ain't you? What do all of these scenarios have in common? That's right... They all lack SIMPLICITY! This week Bennett and Eddie talk about two of the most critical yet often overlooked concepts of any endeavor... Keeping things Simple, and Cover and Move!
You must first ask "Why" before you can "Know". You must "Know" before you can "Believe". You must "Bleve" before you can "Commit". You must "Commit" before you can "Succeed" Ask Why Must Know Must Believe Must Commit To Succeed Oh... And let's not forget about that little thing called "Your Ego"!!
In this episode of Change Your Point of View, Bennett and Eddie discuss Chapter 1 and 2 of Extreme Ownership. The concept of Extreme Ownership and what that means to you and the very hard topic of No bad teams, only bad leaders. Fasten your seatbelts and get ready to look inside your self!
Getting out of the military soon, or are already out and looking for information about converting Military Experience?
If you are like me you watched the movie and thought that was all there was to the book by the same name "Starship Troopers" Well turns out... Nothing could be further from the truth. With the exception of some characters in the movie, the fact that they were fighting the "bugs" and the setting was in the future, that was pretty much the end of the similarities. Check out this episode and get a totally different perspective on this book and what it means to be a citizen.
We all enjoy time with our friends and family. We also look forward to the official start of summer and BBQ's, and all the things that represent the Memorial Day Weekend. This week Bennett and Eddie discuss what this day means to them and hopefully will open your eyes to what it means to you. Change Your Point Of View!

Summary: The idea for Veterans Recovery Resources came to John through time and experience. John is a combat Veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm (1990-91), Kosovo (2005-06) and Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2015). He has over 31 years reserve military service including 12 years as an intelligence analyst in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and over 18 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. He also served an eighteen month tour at the Pentagon in the Office of the Surgeon General at Headquarters, Department of the Army (2009-2010). While John’s specialty is hospital administration, he brings the credibility of being a Veteran himself. John has walked in the shoes of Veterans and those in recovery. John has a bold vision for how military Veterans can recover from the trauma and issues they face. That vision is Veterans Recovery Resources. After the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014 expanded the use of non-Veterans Affairs care for veterans located more than 40 miles from a Veterans Affairs facility, and for those for whom care is not available in a timely fashion, John decided to act. He launched the organization in 2015 and created a Board of Directors with Jim Ware and Mike Plattenburg. He started working with Todd Greer and Dr. Joe Currier. The Advisory Board grew. The momentum for Veterans Recovery Resources continues to grow because the need is so dire. John and his team are committed to making Veterans Recovery Resources a reality.
