Hockey fans everywhere are counting the minutes until the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs begin. So why not chain them together and make them fight for supremacy? Wes Lawrence, co-host of Defending Big D's own Stargazing Puckcast, joined fellow commentators from six of our sibling sites to chew the fat and spit hot fire: Stanley Cup Of Chowder, for all things Boston Bruins, Anaheim Calling, a favorite pond for Ducks fans, Jewels From The Crown, serving the Los Angeles Kings, The Cannon, sounding off for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Davy Jones' Locker Room, where Seattle Kraken fans lurk, and Lighthouse Hockey, a beacon for the New York Islanders. This expert panel went series by series in anticipation of the playoffs action. Here's what they talked about: Can anyone stop the Bruins? How much Martin Jones does anyone really need? Does Connor McDavid stay in God Mode? Can the Colorado Avalanche get healthy? How do the Stars deal with actual expectations? And much, much more. Buckle up, it's going to be a heckuva ride! (Notice: Not responsible for accidents, nausea, coma, death, or any other physical or psychological injuries.) And, as always, our end is brought to you by our sponsor, Greening Law, P.C. You must have so many questions about Round 1. Share them at Defending Big D, or flip us a bird @WesALawrence or @KETibbetts. You'll get name-checked in the next podcast, and your pals will be jealous. And this time, we invite you to visit the sites of our friends and rivals, as linked above. Many of them are as new and improved as this one, and they'll appreciate the clicks for sure. Thanks. Love you.

I'm joined by Sie Morley (Twitter), the community editor for SB Nation NHL communities Fear the Fin, Anaheim Calling and Jewels from the Crown, to talk about their days in a very specific Harry Potter fandom on Tumblr. We also have an insightful discussion about how J.K. Rowling's less-than-stellar ideological views may have influenced her writing and her endless desire to explain every single aspect of how wizards life. There's also some stuff about hockey, the best way to make sure no one asks you stupid questions about your job, and pretending to be Canadian so no one asks you about Donald Trump. My intro's audio is stored in OneDrive and I have been having issues with that lately, so I wasn't able to include an introduction this week. I Like Your Shoelaces is a deep dive into all the hilarious and surreal stuff that happened during the blogging platform Tumblr's heyday. Each episode, I am joined by a guest to talk about an event or trend from Tumblr that still sticks with us to this day, as well as what they got out of their time on Tumblr and what it meant to them. Please get in touch with me @michael_cfg on Twitter if you have any feedback or ideas for me to talk about going forward (but also follow me there). I've also made a Discord server that you are welcome to join if you have any posts or ideas to share! I Like Your Shoelace's artwork was designed by the extremely talented Michael Taylor (@MichaelDanger19)
If you are checking this out then you have officially found Crash the Pond, the new blog and podcast from Felix and myself. As Felix will elaborate more in his welcome article, this is our new home after years on Anaheim Calling. We are excited for what the future may hold here for us, so to get started here is the final episode from our time as the ACPod.Keep an eye out for a brand new episode in the next couple days!
Jesse talks Anaheim Ducks with CJ Woodling, managing editor of the SBNation blog Anaheim Calling. They discuss disappointing seasons from Hampus Lindholm and John Gibson, and also hit on Trevor Zegras and the great prospects along the way!
Jake Rudolph and CJ Woodling of Anaheim Calling return for the pod. They answer listener questions in "Send It", including their favorite movies of 2019 (6:40), discuss the USA vs. Canada Rivalry Series Game at Honda Center (19:50), we make some discoveries about Hockey erotica novels(26:37) and much more OTHER STUFF. Well, these two teams just met two weeks ago. In that time each team has played three games, there's been a Christmas break, and, well, not much has happened. Good news is CJ Woodling of Anaheim Calling still has some inside info about the Ducks that will make this game a little more interesting for you. Learn more about your ad choices. The Anaheim Ducks are a team in the middle of something resembling a rebuild on the fly, whose success comes mostly from the heart of Ryan Getzlaf and the glove hand of John Gibson. Unfortunately, not much else, and as such, the Ducks are a team well out of a playoff spot with no real expectation for that to change. CJ Woodling of Anaheim Calling let us in on what this season has been so far for the Ducks. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Lots of questions surrounding Bob Murray's vision for the Anaheim Ducks, and only time will tell what kind of answers we'll get. The NHL off-season is here, so it's time for Chip turn make a hard left turn to "Other Stuff". This week she pivots to the greatest goddamn Canadian show ever: "Letterkenny". George Contreras from Anaheim Calling returns, and Dean and Tiara, hosts of the "How Are Ya Now?" podcast take some real time to discuss and celebrate this gift of a show. Also some hockey is discussed: Corey Perry to Dallas, Daryl Sutter to Anaheim, and Donnybrook HC played it's first league game.
CJ Woodling and Jake Rudolph come to the show just to rub it in that they are now too good for it. Actually, they discuss the new growth for Anaheim Calling and what it means for their crew moving forward. "Game of Thrones" feelings were discussed and what past things the crew would petition to change. Also, New Coke is coming back, so it's decided what foods are worthy of comebacks. Of course there some NHL/ AHL playoff talk, and coaching talk, but really, you're here for the nonsense.
Chase Thomas is joined Anaheim Calling, SB Nation's Anaheim Ducks blog, Felix Sicard to talk about the tough offseason questions facing Bob Murray and the Ducks, missing out on Jack Hughes, the state of the farm system, who will be the next coach, Ryan Kessler's bummer of an injury, the importance of Ryan Getzlaf over the years, the Hurricanes' goalie situation this offseason, free agency questions for their best players, their chances of getting back to the playoffs, how the Blues are taking it to the Sharks, Jaden Schwartz's brilliance and what's going on with New York Rangers' front office. You can follow Chase on Twitter, like him on Facebook, read him on his website, and even email him at chasethomaspodcast@gmail.com if that is something you would like to do, too.
It's been 6 weeks, so George Contreras of Anaheim Calling has self-booked himself again, and this time is joined by Birdo and Hannah Spraker from The Fourth Period. Chip shares her hockey dream that is no doubt triggered by playing a pickup game at the Honda Center with the Violent Gentlemen crew. The group talks about how the Ducks currently playing spoiler has finally made for fun watching and Hannah and George denounce the tank theory. Hannah recounts her experience participating in a Red Bull Crashed Ice qualifying event, and Chip learns a disturbing fact about someone in the Totally Offsides family.
John Broadbent from Anaheim Calling and Mat McCurley stop by this week. After taking time off to play the Throwback Classic, Chip returns in less than stellar shape after a day of snowboarding. She recaps the tournament fun of playing with Team Beer League Talk and about how she may have been tricked into marrying an Alaskan. John fills us on in who the Ducks may target in the draft, and also his new San Diego Gulls project. Finally, to make up for lack of cereal talk, we do a new taste test, which turns out to be the least favorite thing Mat has to do.
Chase Thomas is joined by Montreal Canadiens beat writer Stu Cowan to talk about the team's surprising season in the NHL, the rationale behind the Nate Thompson trade, their stellar play of late, their depth issues on the fourth line, the improved play of Carey Price, and the job Marc Bergevin has done putting together this roster. Then, the New Orleans Advocate's Rod Walker jumps on the pod to talk about the Anthony Davis saga in New Orleans, who is running the team with Dell Demps, Danny Ferry and Mickey Loomis in the fold, who Davis is as a person, the future of Jrue Holliday in New Orleans, when the trade will finally happen, and the future of the Pelicans after Davis is gone (26:00). Lastly, Anaheim Calling's Felix Sicard hops on the pod to talk about the dumpster fire that is the 2018-19 Anaheim Ducks, the firing of Randy Carlyle, Bob Murray's job as GM, the contract situation for John Gibson, the veterans who need to be moved, how this team can change course this offseason, and why Jack Hughes could be the guy for the Ducks in the NHL Draft (60:00). You can follow Chase on Twitter, like him on Facebook, read him on his website, and even email him at chasethomaspodcast@gmail.com if that is something you would like to do, too.
The Ducks are in town this weekend and the Ducks, quite frankly, are a mess. Kelly is joined by CJ Woodling of Anaheim Calling to dive into what is ailing the Ducks this season and to find out how they might fare against the Flyers. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
In a monster episode this week, Chip is joined by CJ from Anaheim Calling, Brian Kazarian and Tony Cappocchi of Rest Repose. The Ducks have snapped their 12-game skid, and the crew feels like they lost a member of the family. Chip put together a touching tribute for The Streak, as a proper sendoff. The Ducks had a newsworthy week, and the group dives in to who was traded, who's on IR, who was recalled from San Diego, and more.

Chip makes a poor decision and invites George Contreras and Jake Rudolph from Anaheim Calling to come in together. Lacking any adult supervision, this episode, things go awry. Chip celebrates her first one star rating on Itunes, and since there was no review accompanying it, invites everyone to write their own. There is some Ducks talk about Pontus Aberg, Daniel Sprong, and Bob Murray's extension, but mostly, everyone makes fun of George being old and Chip harasses Jake about the next Podcast Classic. Enjoy the journey.
Our free-falling Flyers are all the way out in Anaheim tonight to take on the Anaheim Ducks, a team in a skid of their own. Coming off of four straight losses, the Ducks will be looking to building off of the strong third period they had in their OT loss to the Sharks Sunday night, while the Flyers will be doing anything and everything to get their proverbial house in order. Should be an interesting game. We met with CJ Woodling of Anaheim Calling to learn a little about the Ducks and topics include:How the Ducks are dealing with an aging core of players moving forwardWhich players are stepping up to compensate for the lack of Corey Perry, who is injuredRandy Carlyle, and the kinship to be found thanks to very bad hockey coachesUndrafted players making noise and how much fun that is for fansJohn Gibson, who may not be a human man Tonight’s Flyers After Dark game won’t start until 10PM, so...have some coffee? Take a nap? I dunno. It’ll be a long night. Go Flyers! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Chip says farewell to the KROQ studio on Venice Blvd, as she is the last person to record anything there. Art from Hockey Punk Clothing, and JC and CJ from Anaheim Calling join her, and as any good host would, she gives them parting gifts for the occasion. They group also discusses the Domi "suspension" and the evolving thoughts on safety , the Sharks' idea for unveiling their 3rd jersey, and the Totally Offsides vs. Anaheim Calling game at Honda Center for 25 Hours of Hockey is recapped.
Chip is joined by Felix Sicard and Jake Rudolph (who lives at the station now apparently) from Anaheim Calling. The inaugural Podcast Classic is recapped, with Chip graciously accepting defeat. Free Agency continues, and the group discusses the Fleury deal. Anaheim is retiring the numbers of Kariya and Neidermayer, they give their takes, and ponder what current Ducks are destined for the honor. And most importantly...WHY IS THERE AN 'S' IN THIS PODCAST'S NAME?
Chip returns from tour and asks for a hockey recap from the AC boys, which of course veers into talking more about the Vegas Golden Knights. Then the crew discusses how the sport deals with injuries in response to the Ryan Kesler rumors. A Canadian Senator's speech about his disdain for American hockey broadcasters is analyzed, and finally, a pickup hockey guantlet is thrown... Are you Team Totally Offsides or Team Anaheim Calling?
Charlie O'Connor sits down with CJ Woodling from Anaheim Calling to discuss the last of the Flyers west coast road trip games. How impactful will injuries be? Who should we look out for? What do they think of the Flyers? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
