We have our season in review for the San Diego Gulls, and joining the podcast is a special guest! JD Hernandez is joined by Aaron Cooney, the TV/radio voice of the San Diego Gulls to break down a season of improvements. They break down the players that made a big difference, the perseverance after a tough start early in the season, and the special run through the Midwest around the All-Star break. Also, which young prospects should we look forward to seeing in a Gulls jersey next season... and possibly a Ducks jersey down the line? Oh, and which players have given surfing a try?
While the San Diego Gulls didn't have as much success as they would have hoped, there was still some significant improvements compared to the previous season. JD Hernandez breaks down some of the numbers, and talks about some record numbers for Andrew Agozzino. Also, there was one aspect of the Gulls' game that was working FLAWLESSLY during the middle of the season. There's a couple impressive numbers when it comes to special teams. Finally, JD breaks down the wild first round action of the Calder Cup playoffs, including some fighting... during the handshake line?
The San Diego Gulls finished their season on the highest of notes last weekend against the top-seeded Coachella Valley Firebirds. JD Hernandez talks in depth about both games and why this can only be a positive sign moving forward. Andrew Agozzino sets a new single-season franchise record, and Sasha Pastujov caps off a terrific season with a final goal to end the season. Finally, a tribute to the legendary NHL announcer, Bob Cole, who recently passed away at the age of 90.Monopoly GO!Get in the game and join your friends. The Anaheim Ducks have a slew of young prospects ready to break out next season. Which young guys could make a huge difference, and who may wind up helping the San Diego Gulls? JD Hernandez talks all about prospects in this weekend episode. Which defensemen could crack the roster next season, and who could be left out? Will one of either Tristan Luneau and/or Noah Warren stick around in Anaheim, and could one of them wind up as a 7th defenseman? Also, Hadi Kalakeche & Sebastian High (Locked On NHL Prospects) give their insight on Cutter Gauthier and where he fits into the Ducks' roster. Finally, some closing thoughts on Cutter, and his high IQ play.
The San Diego Gulls put together a couple strong efforts against teams just down the road... but nothing to show for it as they have another losing streak on their hands. JD Hernandez talks about the player movement going on, and how it has affected the Ducks' AHL squad. The Gulls put on a great performance in Ontario only to lose in overtime, then play one of their best games of the season in Coachella Valley... only to lose in the final minutes of the game thanks to some puck luck going the Firebirds' way. With only two games remaining in the season against the Firebirds, these games have little meaning for either team. However, we finish by looking at the wild Pacific Division standings and where each team could wind up by the end of the regular season.
With the AHL season winding down, the San Diego Gulls have some Black Aces that are now playing and showing some promise. JD Hernandez is back at Acrisure Arena to talk about the good signs coming from the Ducks' AHL affiliate, and the positive habits that some players could take into next season. The Gulls had a decent week taking 3 out of 6 points in some tough games. The Gulls played spoilers against a Condors team that is looking to improve their playoff chances. Speaking of that, JD takes a look at the Pacific Division standings... and the Firebirds clinched the #1 spot meaning the Gulls have a chance to steal a game (or two) towards the end of the season.Factor MealsGet started on your resolutions with Factor, so you're ready for the new year.
