AMDG. Family dynamics understandably influence the day to day of homeschooling. When crisis comes—be it separation or divorce, job loss, health emergencies, anxiety and depression, relationship issues, or other trauma—feelings of isolation and stigma can cause ripple effects in a family. In this episode, Bonnie and Steven visit with homeschool alumni mother Anne DeSantis of the St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation, which offers prayer, priestly consultation, podcasts & videos, and programs & events for families in crisis. They touch on a variety of topics, such as the benefits of seeking help from someone outside of a normal social sphere for greater confidentiality and specialization, how people can become marginalized by family crisis issues, the importance of both boundaries and being perceptive to where other people are, and how healing is never once and done. In this conversation, Christina speaks again with Anne DeSantis, Author, Speaker, Podcast Host, & Non-Profit Director of the St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation for Freedom, Family, and Faith. This time, we spoke about Anne's new book, Love and Care for the Marginalized: Spiritual Outreach Reflections for Catholics. Our discussion focused upon how each of us can grow in our awareness of who is marginalized as where the marginalized are, and how we can respond as Christ asks us to. Her book consists of 40 reflections designed to help you pray and reflect, but more importantly, to take some small action each day to grow in love and care for the marginalized in your midst--like a homeless person, an immigrant, an elderly person in a nursing home, or an estranged family member. The biggest takeaway for me from our conversation is that the only truly effective action is one combined with prayer, and this is Anne's latest book helps you cultivate that attitude and habit in your mind, heart and soul. Anne also writes for three on-line publications: CatholicMom, Catholic 365, and Catholic Lane, hosts the on-line program called "Journeys in Faith with Anne DeSantis" on Fiat Ministry Network and Patchwork Heart Ministry, and cohosts a weekly podcast with Bill Snyder called the "Sewing Hope Podcast" on Patchwork Heart Ministry, as well. In addition to her apostolic work, Anne is wife, mother, and former homeschooling parent to her two grown daughters, Alaine and Shawn. She and her husband Angelo DeSantis have been married for over 30 years and they reside within the Philadelphia area suburbs, and are both members of the Third Order of Mercy which is a prayerful/active member of the Mercedarian Religious Order. Catholic author, speaker Anne DeSantis joins me to discuss her new book "Love And Care For The Marginalized". It is a book that gives 40 reflections for #Catholics on how we can reach out those around us. In this interview we will not only discuss the book, but who the #marginalized are and how we can reach them with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus. Check out Anne's website at https://www.annedesantis.com/ She is also the director of the Saint Raymond Nonnatus Foundation and you can learn more about them at https://www.nonnatus.org/ To purchase the book visit https://charispublishing.com/collections/frontpage/products/love-and-care-for-the-marginalized-40-meditations #annedesantis About Anne (From Her Website): I am a Wife, Mother of two adult daughters, Catholic Author, Speaker, and a 55+ Model/ Actress from the Greater Philadelphia area. Although I had a career before motherhood, spending quality family time will always be one of the best decisions I have ever made. In 2014 at the age of 49, I started a journey in the modeling and acting realm and have been active in the field up to the present time. Previous to this, I had been a stay-at-home homeschooling Mom to my two daughters. Currently, I host a weekly TV show called " Journeys in Faith" on Fiat Ministry Network and Patchwork Heart Radio interviewing people doing good things and spreading faith! From 2018-2020 I hosted the weekly TV show called "The Positive Side" on RVNTV and interviewed amazing people doing work. My experience in the acting/modeling field ranges from background work in TV, local and national TV commercials, spokesperson work, QVC skincare progressionals, pharmaceutical ads, and online and print modeling and acting. I consider my roles as a commercial actress and model as a "hobby" and a great way to earn extra income for my family and in meeting new people. I have a standard with the work I accept in the field and do my best to accept jobs that reflect my life standards, goodness and positivity. With all of this said, I am honored to be the director for the St. Raymond Nonnatus Foundation for Freedom, Family, and Faith since it is my primary profession. Serving the Lord in this way is an honor for me. It is a true gift to be able to help families and individuals through the work of this Catholic foundation. We are an expression and an application of the charism of the Mercedarian Religious Order. Since "Catholic" means universal, God's love is for all people. I try to reflect this belief in my interactions. Christianity is a life modeled after Jesus Christ who gave his life for others in order to bring life to the world through the gift of faith.

Are you or someone you know an adult child of divorced parents? Divorce can cause numerous wounds to all involved. Sometimes others try minimize the damage caused by divorce by saying things like, “Children are resilient. They'll be ok.” But the truth is, as I've learned from first-hand experience, is that divorce ALWAYS hurts. No one escapes unharmed. In this episode, Anne DeSantis and I discuss the many shades of pain caused by divorce and what we can do to heal. Both Anne and I are adult children of divorced parents. I share some of the many ways divorce had affected me in my adult life and in my married life.
