The Gameland Before Time. This week, we've both got a ton to say about Ghost of Yotei, and most of it is complete praise. Sucker Punch's followup does so much right in terms of gameplay, character and story development, side content, and art style that it's so easy to pick up and enjoy. Atsu's tale of revenge gets more and more intriguing with each and every encounter. We're also talking quite a bit about the recent Black Ops 7 Beta, as well as its Zombies mode. Hey, everybody! Kristen and O'Dell are back this week to celebrate the launch of Ghost of Yōtei, discuss upcoming releases, and share the latest news. This episode also includes an interview with Erika Ishii, voice of Atsu from Ghost of Yōtei. 

On this episode of The Movie Podcast, Daniel and Shahbaz are joined by Creative Director Jason Connell of Sucker Punch Productions for an in-depth discussion on the making GHOST OF YŌTEI and the cinematic influences behind it. Set in 1603 in Ezo, Japan, the story follows Atsu, an onryō seeking vengeance against the “Yōtei Six” for slaughtering her family sixteen years earlier. Ghost of Yōtei is out now exclusively on the PlayStation 5 family of systems. Jason Connell is a Creative Director on Ghost of Yōtei and was Creative Director and Art Director on Ghost of Tsushima, leading lighting, cinematography, and concept direction. He has more than 20 years of game development experience, over half of which have been with Sucker Punch. Alaska bred, he loves adventuring with his wife and two children. Jason lives in a beanie 99% of the time and abuses the word awesome. Ghost of Yōtei is an incredible sequel, filled with moments that will stay with me for a long time. It feels like the first party exclusive we've been waiting for, with Sucker Punch continuing to hit its stride at delivering console-selling exclusives. The combat, despite minor issues, is a blast. Atsu is a whirlwind of death, each weapon playing entirely differently from the others. The narrative is dark and thrilling, with the side content being more meaningfully tied in to the core experience than before. It's one of the most graphically stunning games I've ever seen, with the PS5 Pro's Ray Tracing Pro really packing a punch.
