Kako misliti nuklearno dobo in na kakšne načine je izum jedrskega orožja vplival na vojskovanje, diplomacijo, znanost in človekov položaj v svetu Odkar so Združene države pred 80 leti na Hirošimo in Nagasaki odvrgle atomski bombi, svet ni več isti. Drugačen je zrak, ki ga dihamo in vse od tistega trenutka vsebuje sevanje, drugačna je zemlja, ki je bila deležna sevanja ne le dveh uradno odvrženih bomb, ampak tudi več kot dva tisoč še močnejših bomb, ki so jih velesile poizkusno detonirale v nadaljnjih desetletjih. Spremenile pa so se tudi manj oprijemljive reči: spremenil se je način, kako se odvijajo vojne in diplomacija, spremenil se je način, kako se financira znanost, morda ni isti niti položaj človeka v svetu, ki ima naenkrat zmožnost Zemljo čez noč spremeniti do nerazpoznavnega stanja, v katerem se naše življenje - vsaj v dosedanji obliki - ne bi moglo nadaljevati. Kljub enormnim razsežnostim dejstva, da smo ljudje dejansko ustvarili nekaj tako uničujočega, pa se s tem danes razmeroma malo ukvarjamo. Če je bil prvih nekaj desetletij strah še otipljivo navzoč, kubanska raketna kriza, ki je svet pahnila na sam rob jedrske vojne, pa je dejansko pripeljala do nekaterih obsežnih sporazumov in omejitev oboroževanja, se zdimo danes kar nekako pomirjeni s tem, da ima vsaj 9 držav na svetu atomsko bombo in da je atomsko orožje prav v vsakem trenutku v pripravljenosti za uporabo. Še več, celo opuščanje težko doseženih sporazumov in napovedi testiranja jedrskega orožja, ki se ravnokar dogajajo, nas ne pretresejo zares. V tokratni Intelekti se bomo pogovarjali o tem, zakaj tako težko mislimo atomsko dobo ter kako je atomsko orožje pravzaprav spremenilo naš svet. Izraelski varnostni kabinet je razpravljal o zahtevi premierja Benjamina Netanjahuja za zasedbo celotnega območja Gaze. Po sestanku je Netanjahu za jutri sklical sejo vlade o tem. 6. in 9. avgusta pred 80 leti so Združene države Amerike v napadu na Japonsko prvič v zgodovini uporabile jedrsko bombo. V napadu na Hirošimo je takoj in v naslednjih nekaj tednih umrla polovica od 300.000 prebivalcev. Skupno pa naj bi obe bombi – prva je bila uranova, druga pa plutonijeva – zahtevali okrog 200.000 smrtnih žrtev, velika večina žrtev je bila civilistov. Japonska je kapitulirala 6 dni po napadu na Nagasaki, 15. avgusta, in 2. septembra se je s podpisom kapitulacije končala druga svetovna vojna, ki je zahtevala več deset milijonov smrtnih žrtev, večinoma civilistov. 80. obletnici prve uporabe jedrske bombe v vojaškem spopadu posvečamo tokratni Studio ob 17h. As a result, Haru confronts Akito. Kureno has Rin taken to the hospital, where she later escapes, and collapses on the street. Haru comes to her aid. Suddenly, in the middle of the night, Momiji's bond severs, bringing his future into his own hands for the first time.
