This Monday sees a brand new episode of Graphic Policy Radio with a special guest Marjorie Liu who makes her first time appearance on the show to discuss her newest comic series Monstress, her career, and more! Her newest work is Monstress is an original, creator-owned comic book series with Japanese artist (and X-23 collaborator) Sana Takeda. The series is set in an alternate, matriarchal 1920’s Asia and follows a girl’s struggle to survive the trauma of war. With a cast of girls and monsters and set against a richly imagined aesthetic of art deco-inflected steampunk, the first issue was an instant hit. On top of that Ms. Liu is also the author of more than 19 novels, is a frequent lecturer and guest speaker, and was previously a lawyer. We want to hear from you too! Tina (Twitter, Website) joins us again to talk Orphan Black. We all love Helena. Though, Orphan Black isn’t a BBC show, Chris still included it in his blog, Why You Should Be Watching Brit TV Shows. Tina does foley of the Montreal Sauce splat when we talk Ben Affleck in Daredevil. The only clip that shows the Affleck scene Chris shares is from Cinema Sins. What a lovely coincidence. Chris says he was unimpressed with Marvel’s wanna be anime style animated films. Marvel’s Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher and Iron Man: Rise of Technovore. Paul & Tina keep attempting to watch Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows. Chris has yet to catch up with OITNB, but Tina & Paul just finished the new season of Orange is the New Black. Torchwood continues to torture Chris who gets revenge by confusing Mekhi Phifer with Omar Epps. Paul sings the chorus of Rockwell’s jam, Somebody’s Watching Me. Looking for a calendar to share across devices without being spied on by Big Data? Chris is trying Baïkal. It’s free & open source. Arturo was in the live chat during the show so we volunteered him to host the show in his tropical paradise next winter. Pedestrian bridge to Canada? That’s some not safe for work ridiculousness from Frisky Dingo. Speaking of NSFW or just plain weird, Paul is part of Machete Squad. The Xtacles was a lackluster spinoff from Frisky Dingo. For good measure, try the new ant farm keyboard because “We can’t ever go back to Arizona!” OwnCloud is a real dog on the RPi, but Raspian seems to work well. We talk Amazon’s fantastic new FIRE PHONE! Flame on? The creepy Facebook app on your phone listens to you and your environment. Paul wants the Master Chief Collection, so he’s contemplating an Xbox One. The guys talk Kingdom of Loathing again. If you’re interested in joining Chris’ sad clan in the game, find him on twitter. Word Realms is a fun RPG/word game by the same developers of KoL. Support Montreal Sauce on Patreon
