Mentioned: Butler by Salena Zito, audiobooks narrated by Simon Jones of The Gilded Age.In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2019 on iffy etiquette.Next week's lineup: Lost S3 E9, "Stranger in a Strange Land," on Tuesday, July 29The Gilded Age S3 E1, "What the Papers Say," on Wednesday, July 30Weekly roundup on Thursday, July 31Until then (and anytime you're in need), the archives are available. This episode was recorded before a live studio audience ... of dogs.

This week, Le Shrub joins the show to lay out his barbell portfolio strategy and "GAG" (Golden Age of Grift) thesis. We discuss fiscal dominance, bond market dysfunction, yield curve control, and why crypto—especially ETH—is gaining traction as the new high-yield frontier. We also cover risk scenarios like Japan yield shocks, Powell's potential firing, rising inflation swaps, and how private equity and crypto are being funneled into 401(k)s to keep the system afloat. From there, they examine the deeper forces driving these events—white Christian nationalism, the weakening of church-state separation, and newly proposed changes to the Johnson Amendment. **TUNE IN EVERY FRIDAY at 2 EST for our LIVE REACTION to the episode, exclusively on YOUTUBE**As Carrie's character continues to lose all sense of life, personality and humanity, we couldn't help but wonder: what does MPK THINK he is doing here? Certainly not make any single one of us root for Aiden; everything that made Aiden "the one that got away" is now gone, leaving us with "GO AWAY, AIDEN!" After breaking this 200 year old glass (Carrie is the first person on earth who cares about GLASS this much) Aiden makes a shocking reveal, to which Carrie reacts to by shrugging and then gaslighting the entire audience into thinking we should have known her stance. Miranda and Joy are actually kind of a breath of fresh air, so lets at least be thankful for that. Something else we are ALWAYS grateful for? Jennifer Lewis. This woman can spin gold out of whatever this writing is. LTW's dad dies for the second time in the series, and there are a couple fleeting moments of greatness in the funeral (other than the egregious butchering of the lyrics of a Stephen Schwartz classic opening number). Meanwhile, Seeam is apparanly dirt poor, so that's at least the first semi-relatable storyline so far!
