From there, they examine the deeper forces driving these events—white Christian nationalism, the weakening of church-state separation, and newly proposed changes to the Johnson Amendment. With insight and urgency, Brad and Dan break down the theological narratives, policy shifts, and cultural consequences shaping today's America. **TUNE IN EVERY FRIDAY at 2 EST for our LIVE REACTION to the episode, exclusively on YOUTUBE**As Carrie's character continues to lose all sense of life, personality and humanity, we couldn't help but wonder: what does MPK THINK he is doing here? Certainly not make any single one of us root for Aiden; everything that made Aiden "the one that got away" is now gone, leaving us with "GO AWAY, AIDEN!" After breaking this 200 year old glass (Carrie is the first person on earth who cares about GLASS this much) Aiden makes a shocking reveal, to which Carrie reacts to by shrugging and then gaslighting the entire audience into thinking we should have known her stance. Miranda and Joy are actually kind of a breath of fresh air, so lets at least be thankful for that. Something else we are ALWAYS grateful for? Jennifer Lewis. This woman can spin gold out of whatever this writing is. LTW's dad dies for the second time in the series, and there are a couple fleeting moments of greatness in the funeral (other than the egregious butchering of the lyrics of a Stephen Schwartz classic opening number). Meanwhile, Seeam is apparanly dirt poor, so that's at least the first semi-relatable storyline so far! We continue to be gaslit into thinking two semi okay episodes in a row is like a gift from the heavens, but we will also continue to be slightly optomistic! Those few episodes of the slowest exposition on earth has finally started to pay off with some ACTUAL storylines. Now, mind you, the stories we ACTUALLY would love to see explored in greater detail, such as LTW's immediate work crush on Marion, or Carrie and Miranda living together "Odd Couple Style") are opened up and then immediately dumped minutes later, but at least we get gilmmers of the original series every so often, and at this point, we will take those moments happily and beg for more! Harry has prostate cancer (no mention of years-long friend Steve, who might be able to relate) so at least Charlotte has something more to do than walk a dog around central park and chop vegetables in her kitchen while Anthony looks on. We also get a couple texts with Samantha, which made us feel safe again, for one shining minute of television. Also, we see lots of nudity, and we can always appreciate that. The episode then turns to the Supreme Court's latest rulings, including: Gender-affirming care for minors Deportation policy limits The reach of nationwide injunctions Parental rights around LGBTQ+ inclusive education Dan highlights the Christian nationalist undertones shaping public discourse and judicial outcomes. This episode had a TON to discuss this week! First of all, it was randomly kind of good, but that also might just be us reacting to something of substance after oh so many episodes of complete "HUH???". The MAIN topic of discussion is the subject of Wyatt. Ohhhh...Wyatt. Your two hosts are VERY split on our opinions of this kid. While we agree the actor is quite remarkable (because we all universally think this kid is the WORST), but where we differ is our thoughts on whether Wyatt's behavior is warrented and his family is being too hard on him, or if maybe this kid needs a good dose of SUCK IT UP AND GET OVER IT! Meanwhile, Miranda is now housesitting on an open-ended timeline, and after an embarassing on-air snafu, she is feeling slef conscious about her situation with the lovely Joy, who we LOVE. Harry is reduced to a bitchy neighbor who is also semi-impotent (not Charlotte's first ride around the carousel), Seema has a her own Jerry Maguire moment, and LTW and George Washington have some sleep paralysis demons coming to put their marriage to the test. He unpacks how Christian nationalist leaders frame the conflict as a cosmic battle between good and evil, and how that spiritualized rhetoric could shape Trump's future actions. Brad also investigates the growing signs that the ideology behind January 6th is becoming embedded in U.S. institutions—highlighted by the presence of the “Appeal to Heaven” flag at key government sites. He then turns to the media's uneven response to recent political violence, comparing coverage of two alleged shooters and what it reveals about race, ideology, and public perception. The episode wraps with updates on military and judicial developments tied to the Trump era—and what they signal about where we might be headed next. Israel launched strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, killing at least three of Iran's top military leaders. We look at why Israel took these actions now, what Iran might do next, and how the conflict complicates President Trump's efforts to be a dealmaker and a peacekeeper. Also, the dramatic removal of a U.S. Senator from a Homeland Security press conference capped off a week of aggressive immigration moves by the Trump administration. How are Americans responding to Trump's shows of force? This episode: political correspondent Sarah McCammon, senior political editor and correspondent Domenico Montanaro, and national security correspondent Greg Myre. This podcast was produced by Bria Suggs and edited by Lexie Schapitl.
