University of New Hampshire Associate Athletic Director Mike Murphy was with us on studio Thursday. Mike joined us to talk about a great event this Sunday when the UNH Men's hockey team will take a practice on the road for the first time and it will be at the Everett Arena in Concord from 12:45-2 with an autograph session to follow. We also talked about Mike's fond memories of his ten-plus years here at WKXL.
On his 78th birthday we celebrated the music of Kenny Loggins. From his early days with Loggins and Messina to his music for Caddyshack and Footloose to his years with Blue Sky Riders and his duets with the likes of Stevie Nicks and Michael McDonald. Correspondent John Leahy joined us to talk about the end of an era in Boston over the weekend, the closing of 115-year old Matthews Arena which was the home of several Boston area college hockey teams over the years, most recently Northeastern University. It also was a home years ago to the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and New England Whalers. We also celebrated the birthday of Dick Van Dyke who turned 100 over the weekend. We even played a version of the Dick Van Dyke Show theme song that had words written by the late Morey Amsterdam of the show's cast.
