Check out the podcast on Macslist here: (https://www.macslist.org/?post_type=podcasts&p=16242&preview=true)  A successful job search starts with self-knowledge, not sending out applications. According to Find Your Dream Job guest Aoife O'Brien, many job seekers make the mistake of jumping into similar roles after feeling unhappy at work, only to land in the same situation again. Aoife's "Know, Show, Grow" framework encourages starting with three core pillars: values – what truly matters to you beyond a paycheck; needs – what keeps you motivated day to day; strengths – what energizes you and comes naturally. Without this foundation, you risk repeating the cycle of unfulfilling jobs. Aoife also recommends showing your value by tying your strengths to real business outcomes from past roles. Instead of applying everywhere, focus on opportunities that align with your authentic self, and submit fewer, better applications. That condition is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Aoife talks about the personal story which inspired this show before Tom and Aoife talk all about how they work together.Actor and writer Ruaraidh Murray then tells us about Colours Run, which "is a gritty dark comedy two-hander about a troubled Hibs casual Pongo and his brother Pete", written by Mikey Burnett. It's theatre company 4PLAY's first Edinburgh Fringe Festival production and Ruaraidh details not only the play, but the work of 4PLAY as well.Connor McKenna is the writer/performer behind one-man show Seltzer Boy and he details the inspiration behind it, and the themes he wanted to explore. He also discusses some of the differences he has found between eating and drinking in his native America and his now home of Scotland. These podcasts are always a joy to record and get just a taste of what's happening in Edinburgh this August, and we hope these discussions about three very different shows get you in the mood for this year's Fringe.Full details, including all the ways to listen, are over at scotswhayhae.com

It's time the government was held accountable.”Others warn of unintended consequences:“If you write this into the Constitution, you're opening the floodgates,” argues Declan in Dublin. “It'll lead to endless legal battles and strain public finances even more.”And some are torn:“I believe everyone deserves a home, but I'm not sure a constitutional change is the best way to fix a broken system,” admits Aoife from Cork.Through respectful debate, passionate views, and tough questions, Niall guides listeners through the legal, moral, and practical sides of a constitutional right to housing.Whether you're firmly for it, completely against it, or just trying to make sense of it all—this episode is a must-listen.

Okay, we won't lie. That episode was a marathon.Yes, it was too good to stop, and in fairness, we didn't want to stop either. But the weight of what did, didn't, and almost happened left us emotionally and physically drained. Worth it? Absolutely. This was a true reunion, for both players and characters, and the Newly Dead came back together in the only way they know how: dealing (and taking) a healthy dose of damage. At least they weren't fighting each other this time, right? In this episode of Action Surge, Harry guides his tired little soldiers through an episode full of death, barters, secrets, and desperation to break down what might be our most impressive team-building exercise to date. (Though Hollie is still convinced Elowen could've taken him if it came down to it. And it almost did.)Now that the party's reunited, it's time to start trading secrets. Aoife opens up about Dolly and Reliquiae's most toxic ex-boyfriend, while Alex insists certain details stay under wraps, for now, to give them the space they need to breathe…and, in some cases, to grieve.Ben, as ever, has thoughts about hit points and how much he enjoys having them just so he can lose them. Oh, and there's nothing quite like a Chromatic Orb finally hitting and bouncing. In his defence, it was incredibly satisfying! And is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Kelnys, whose incredible dragon wings and third level healing spells just about kept the team on their feet. Well almost. A few still hit the deck. Someone's got to help pick up the pieces, right Doug?Speaking of decks, the cards once again proved they are absolutely not what anyone expects. But hey, at least we managed to avoid adding a new edition to the pack.Oh, and what can we say? Crafted Campaigns has once again outdone themselves. And we're pretty sure both Elowen and I would agree: the thought of running up and down the stairs in that place again is, quite frankly, exhausting. Hosted on Acast. Aoife shares her compelling journey from losing her mother at a young age to stepping into a parental role for her siblings, all while challenging societal expectations around womanhood and childlessness. With humour and heart, we discuss the peculiarities of how a woman's worth is unfairly measured by her reproductive choices. We explore the trials she faced growing up in a vegetarian household in 1980s Ireland, her experiences with societal norms, and the lessons of empathy and understanding from her unconventional upbringing. Through these stories, we uncover the raw and real emotions of navigating familial roles after loss, the stigma surrounding childlessness, and the societal pressures of parenthood. Wrapping up, we embrace the idea of finding joy in the unpredictable "squiggly lines" of life. In this episode, Aoife and Jenny dive into the UN's new International Day of Play and why it's more than just a celebration. They discuss play as a fundamental right, not a luxury, and explore why it's still being overlooked around the world. While applauding the UN for spotlighting play, they also ask the big question: why do we even need a day to remind the world? Watch This Episode On YouTubeWith the baritones of Bono and U2 as the soundtrack, the globe-trotting world of Mary Robinson requires an epic film to depict her life, and thankfully, they found the director that can deliver just that in Irish filmmaker Aoife Kelleher.Aoife gave us the brilliant film MRS ROBINSON (2024), still on its festival run. MRS ROBINSON tells the inspirational life story of change-maker Mary Robinson: Ireland's first female President, a pioneering UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the successor of Nelson Mandela as Chair of The Elders. And if all that wasn't enough, check out her film, TESTIMONY (2025), also on the festival circuit. Not sure when Aoife has time to sleep but she found time to talk with me for the podcast, and I'm delighted to share that conversation with you.In this episode, Aoife and I discuss:her biographical statement that she seeks in her work to "tell hidden truths about Ireland and Irishness" -- what does that mean? what is an Irish film?;how did she get involved in filmmaking? "my parents were primary school principals and my dad was a politician so it was like, there were a lot of debates around these kind of themes at the dinner table";her switch from law to filmmaking -- "I'd had this work experience in a legal firm that had put me off the idea of pursuing law";what did she learn from her first documentary ONE MILLION DUBLINERS (2014) that she takes away for her current film?how did she get the opportunity to make MRS ROBINSON (2024), even with pitching against many other companies -- "you really can't stress [enough] how large Mary Robinson looms in Irish society";how she made it clear they weren't creating a puff piece documentary -- "from the earliest points in the pitching process, we made it clear that we would not be doing that, and that was what she wanted, too";how she was able to license U2 and other prominent musicians as part of this film (they were going to play "Fortunate Son" by CCR in a Vietnam scene...I think it worked out better with Bono!);the climate activism portion of the film and how it resonates now versus 30 years ago;how has documentary changed in the last ten years?;what's next for her? TESTIMONY (2025) is also on the festival circuit, which means she has TWO feature films on the circuit right nowAoife's Indie Film Highlight: BLUE ROAD: THE EDNA O'BRIEN STORY (2024) dir. by Sinead O'Shea; A WANT IN HER (2024) dir. by Myrid CartenLinks:MRS ROBINSON (2024) WebsiteFollow Screen Ireland on Instagram For More Info On Irish FilmmakersWatch This Episode On YouTubeSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/first-time-go/exclusive-content

It's all going really well… until it isn't.In this episode of Action Surge, Harry reflects on the delicate balance between giving players freedom and pushing them toward the decisions that matter.Aoife opens up about being the centre of attention, how she doesn't always love it, how Dolly handles it, and why it's easier when it's on her own terms. We break down how a perfectly timed natural 20 can stop someone from being alone, and how the dice really do weave their own story. Speaking of stories, we also dive into the importance of knowing when to step back. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should, sometimes the best kind of play is letting someone else have the spotlight.Harry also shares the roles he feels most at home in, and how his charm nearly had Alex believing every word. (Key word: nearly. That liar's smile gave it away.)And as for not being at the table? Doug is all for it. Why? Because it means there are surprises in store. Hosted on Acast. The second novel in Joseph O'Connor's proposed trilogy bristles with life. AudioFile Editor Robin Whitten and host Jo Reed discuss how superb performances from a talented cast reveal the thoughts and emotions of a group of righteous men and women who saved hundreds from Nazi brutality. An escape line called “The Choir” operates within Vatican walls. The group faces constant danger. The narrators portray ordinary people doing extraordinary things. O'Connor's prose is lyrical, and each person's story feels authentic. Hundreds of podcasts, world class guests, incredible human stories and a dedicated bunch of listeners who have supported us through it all.
