Tuesday's focus was on sports and Dick Van Dyke. Correspondent John Leahy joined us to talk about the end of an era in Boston over the weekend, the closing of 115-year old Matthews Arena which was the home of several Boston area college hockey teams over the years, most recently Northeastern University. It also was a home years ago to the Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and New England Whalers. We also celebrated the birthday of Dick Van Dyke who turned 100 over the weekend. We even played a version of the Dick Van Dyke Show theme song that had words written by the late Morey Amsterdam of the show's cast.

Thursday we honored Concord's Tara Mounsey on her Wednesday induction into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in Minnesota. Tara was a member of the U.S. Olympic team in 1998, a team that won the first gold medal in the history of women's hockey. We also celebrated the 81st birthday of Brenda Lee by playing her two biggest hits which she recorded as a very young performer.

Thursday's show spotlighted some of the great local music ahead over the next few days. Tonight it's Lee and Dr. G at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage. Friday at that same venue a CD release show for Paul Hodes and the Blue Buddha Band and on Saturday it's the Scott Spradling Band with their “Rockin' Big Band Christma” at the Rex Theatre in Manchester. Wednesday's show celebrated the first significant snowfall of the meteorological calendar as we played some of the great snow songs of all-time from the Carpenters to Frank Sinatra to Rosemary Clooney and many in between.

The first Tuesday of every month means a visit from the New Hampshire Insurance Department and today we chatted with the Department's Compliance and Enforcement Counsel Josh Hilliard. The topic was the annual open enrollment period for health insurance plans on Healthcare.gov where the deadline for enrollment in order to have January 1st coverage is December 15th.
