This week I ramble about my first trip to socialize with friends since the Pandemic started. I flew to LA, saw a bunch of buds, rode in a van with the band H2O to their show in Phoenix and then renewed the vows of my besties Toby and Moon Morse for their 25th wedding anniversary. Dressed as a unicorn, naturally. Plus the MCCALM shirts have arrived!!! In the mid-80s. Lionel Richie didn’t just operate in the same orbit as Michael Jackson and Prince — Richie was his a superstar of his own right. And nothing solidified his place on the charts like “Can’t Slow Down.” At a tidy 8 songs, the album still manages to fuse genres: pop, R&B, rock, Calypso, dance and even country. And it was a pop music juggernaut, solidifying Richie (and his sweet ‘stache) among the biggest of the bigs ... at least for a while.

Mississippi State experiences its fourth straight loss for the first time in 14 years, and there doesn't appear too much hope left in the tank for the Bulldog faithful. Brian Hadad and Joel Coleman try and make sense of how the program has seemingly derailed in Joe Moorhead's second season.
It might seem unusual to think you can take positives from a three touchdown loss, but that's exactly what Mississippi State can do despite dropping its third straight game against LSU. Brian Hadad and Joel Coleman look at the good and the bad in the aftermath of Saturday's defeat.

We had the opportunity to interview Chris Conley of Saves the Day. “Saves the Day is an American rock band from Princeton, New Jersey, formed in 1997. The band currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Chris Conley, guitarist Arun Bali, bassist Rodrigo Palma, and drummer Dennis Wilson. After forming under the name Sefler in 1994, Saves the Day released their debut studio album, Can't Slow Down, in 1998. It was followed by Through Being Cool (1999), which featured their first single, "Shoulder to the Wheel". Stay What You Are was released in 2001, peaking at number 100 on the Billboard 200. It spawned two successful music videos on MTV2, for the singles "At Your Funeral" and "Freakish", and has since sold 300,000 copies. After the success of Stay What You Are, Saves the Day signed to Dreamworks Records, who co-released their next studio album, In Reverie, with Vagrant Records. The album peaked at number 27 on the Billboard 200 and number 4 on the Independent Albums chart. Their latest LP, titled '9', was released on October 26 in 2018.” Source: Wikipedia Credits: Theme Song: Scott Russo & Design: Oscar Rodriguez & Photo Credit: Alice Baxley We want to hear from you! To date Saves The Day has released nine albums and captured at least one heart. Jameson sits down with another hero of his to meticulously work through each Saves the Day record. Pt 1 covers Can't Slow Down through Stay What You Are. Sprinkled along the pathway of emo rock love, Jameson attempts to discredit Ryan's recent brushes with fate as a simple act of Google spies. Jeff Ragan's found a new lease on life and in wrestling. On Episode 344 of the Short Time Wrestling Podcast, we'll talk with Ragan who is coaching in Fargo with Team Georgia. During the high school season, he coaches at Woodward Academy in Georgia, one of the largest college prep schools in the nation, and according to Ragan, the largest in the Lower 48. Ragan, a longtime assistant at The Citadel before coming to the high school ranks, had one of his wrestlers reach the Cadet Finals on Monday. But the battles his wrestlers face haven't quite been the same as what he's battled. Ragan had a kidney transplant four years ago after going through two years of dialysis. He doesn't make a big thing of it, but it rubs off on the people around him, including Georgia coach Christian Flavin, who works with the Greco program in Georgia and wrestling club at Woodward. Saves the Day, at it since 1997, has had their share of ups and downs but through it all they struck a chord with fans and still do to this day. I had the pleasure of having Saves the Day be my one and only band I ever booked. Sold out pizza restaurant in the middle of North Carolina after only booking one boysetsfire show. Take that Facebook Events. Also, vivid memories of worn out cassette tapes of "Can't Slow Down" and "Through Being Cool" that are still so near and dear to my heart. Chris was gracious enough to sit down with WashedUpEmo.com prior to their latest headlining tour in support of the new self-titled album. We spoke about Saves the Day's first show, the term "Emo Rock Stars," meanings behind the song "Shoulder to The Wheel," who designed one of their classic album covers and Chris' favorite Sean McGrath memory. Listening back, it's great to see how happy Chris is at this point in his life and how much he is enjoying the ride. I couldn't be happier, I hope you are too after listening to this one. Enjoy.
