We're back for the 2023 season opener! New liveries, new faces, new ...well, everyone is about where they were as of last season, so no new upsets...besides Aston Martin! On this episode, Sara was right (yet again!) as we learn of the news of Ben Sulayem stepping back from his involvement with F1. But what does this mean for Andretti/Cadillac (yes, that Cadillac!) entering F1? Meanwhile, Breno tries to steer every conversation away from McLaren's performance and the crew hail Bottas 8.0!They talk about the "evolution" of the 2023 cars and the uprise of Aston. If it wasn't for Alonso, this race would have been pretty dull and while Breno is here for Alonso at the top of the pack again, Sara is going to need some convincing. James and Alex are back from their time at the IndyCar season opener in St. Pete, and what a race it was. Thim's rib is still broken, but now it's joined by a handful of IndyCars in the wake of one of the most entertaining season openers in recent memory. Two airborne crashes, incidents galore and two drivers who had victories stolen from their grasp make up the talking points of this week's The Race IndyCar Podcast after a frantic St Petersburg opener. Regular hosts Jack Benyon of The Race and IndyCar podium finisher JR Hildebrand start with the race's key incident, as Scott McLaughlin clashed with Romain Grosjean while fighting for victory, which eventually went to Marcus Ericsson. Grosjean hasn't always been given the respect of his peers in wheel-to-wheel combat Stateside, but this incident was different and the hosting duo look at why. Andretti's strong start to the season with pole might feel like yet another false dawn after all four of its cars - plus its two affiliated entries at Meyer Shank, including last week's guest Simon Pagenaud - hit trouble and retired or finished laps down. But the hosting duo explain why this year feels different for a resurgent Andretti, which has waited 10 years for a title. There's also discussion on Ericsson's claims that he and his team aren't given the credit they deserve, where Arrow McLaren stands after Pato O'Ward was robbed of victory thanks to a plenum fire, and how one of IndyCar's newest and smallest teams, Juncos Hollinger Racing, excelled with an ace sophomore and shocking rookie onboard. With so much to discuss, the podcast will return next week with special interviews to cover off more of the stories from St Pete. This week on News from the Nerds, host James M is joined by Abby and Sam and they delve into some of the biggest F1 news stories from the past week. F1 (and F2 & F3) is back! We have a full card for the opening round of the F1 season, as the support paddock kicks off the F2 and F3 seasons respectively. What are the panel looking out for, who are the panel looking out for? Alonso confident but missing Stroll Lance Stroll is still not yet confirmed in or out – and his name still sits atop his pit garage in Bahrain. What we do know is that Felipe Drugovich is the replacement, if necessary. How does the podcast trio feel about this? https://twitter.com/Formula_Nerds/status/1630905942496665601?s=20 Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso missed Stroll during testing but has claimed his new team outpaced Ferrari during race simulations. With the team linked to interesting parties Andretti, Hitech GP and the Mumbai Falcons Racing Team owner, AlphaTauri have moved decisively to quash those rumours. But are the panel convinced? Don't believe everything you read or hear, and our trio debate whether buying a team is preferrable to creating one. https://twitter.com/Formula_Nerds/status/1630888668402528256?s=20 https://www.formulanerds.com/news/alphatauri-may-be-for-sale-who-might-buy-them/ Susie Wolff appointed F1 Academy Managing Director The former Williams test driver left Venturi last year after being at the helm of the Formula E team since 2018. Now, we finally know Susie Wolff's next venture. Heading up F1 Academy as the series approaches its first season is no small task, but an exciting one, nevertheless. The panel cover the thoughts on this career step and what impact Susie might have for the newest junior category. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/susie-wolff-announced-managing-director-of-f1-academy/ F1's Football connection continues Not one, but two football-related news stories this week: first, F1 has entered a strategic partnership with Tottenham Hotspur which will see a brand-new karting facility opened beneath Spurs' new stadium. The Bojangles Studio is graced by IndyCar royalty this week as Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his co-host Mike Davis sit down with Scott Dixon. Since emerging on the American open-wheel racing scene in 1999, Dixon has written his name into the history books (between Foyt and Andretti, mind you) by winning six IndyCar championships, 52 races, and the 2008 Indianapolis 500. The interview covers Scott's early life and introduction to auto racing, which came thanks to his father's own racing endeavors and the family promoting a dirt track in Townsville, Australia. Dixon seemed destined for success as he won his way through the kart and lower Formula ranks in Australia and New Zealand, but with every progression came exponential budget growth. As his parents had already mortgaged their home to support his racing endeavors, his father and some local businessmen started an investment corporation that would sell shares of Scott's potential career earnings to help keep him on track. The result was Dixon moving stateside in the late 90s, wowing Stefan Johansson in a test at Sebring and taking a seat in the Indy Lights Series, where he would win the championship in resounding fashion in 2000, beginning his dominance in American open-wheel racing. The interview also discusses Scott's tenure at Chip Ganassi Racing, his family life, and the comparability of stock cars and championship cars. The two American outlets announced their intentions last month, but lots of questions remained unanswered, including the existing 10 teams interest. The post Ep. 343: Will the Andretti Cadillac Duo Find a Place in F1? first appeared on Fun With Cars.
So you mean to tell me that Ryan King only came back on the show because Dan Ticktum got caught speeding at 115mph?! Yes, yes we did! In this episode of Motorsport101, we catch up with more FIA politics as the sport's governing body clarified its stance on political activism during their weekends... and yeah, the Internet flipped out on this one. But was it justified. King helps Dre and Cam explain why it just isn't as simple as saying they're putting the clamps on the drivers. We also talk about Formula E in Hyderabad and it was a classic case of F-E chaos reigning supreme. Jean-Eric Vergne survived a late onslaught from Nick Cassidy despite the latter having nearly 4% more usable energy in a sprint finish. Sam Bird took out himself and his teammate after missing his braking point, and ruined Max Gunther and Sasha Fenestraz's races at the same time. Jake Hughes crashed after his mirror fell off his car and jammed his steering wheel. And Rene Rast altered the title after doing the right thing and avoiding an Oliver Rowland divebomb. Straight over the top of Jake Dennis' Andretti. Jake Struggles is alive and well. A race so crazy, Nico Muller nearly scored points. In a Cupra. Really. I've missed this series. Welcome back, to Motorsport101...

Action Andretti shocked the world in December when he pulled off the biggest upset in AEW history by beating Chris Jericho on AEW: Dynamite. Action talks about how and when he found out about the match, what it was like working with Jericho in the ring, why he calls it the biggest accomplishment of his life, and how the AEW locker room responded to his big win. He discusses what it means to be tagging with Ricky Starks and feuding with the Jericho Appreciation Society, and what he's learning from the opportunity. He also details who inspired his love of wrestling, how he got started, his initial thoughts about his future when the pandemic forced everything to shut down, and his favorite moment from the Jericho Cruise.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A Podcast of two halves on this one. In the first half of the show, we discuss a bit of F1 catchup, with Red Bull announcing a tie-up with Ford with their 2026 power-units as Red Bull Ford Powertrains was born. But also FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem's pretty awful month. In 3 weeks the man was called out for sexist comments from 2001, alienated the current teams further with comments about protecting the sport itself if the Saudi's truly bid "$20bn" for it, and pushing for Andretti to get into F1 as early as 2025... and now he's stepping back from the day-to-day running of the sport. What does it mean, and where do we sit on it? In the second half, we get into the Double header of Formula E races in Diriyah as Porsche continued their run of dominance. Only this time it was Wehrlein at the front as he dominated both races to flip the script on Mexico City, with Jake Dennis following him home both times to make it three Wehrlein-Dennis 1-2's since the season began. We also discuss Sam Bird's up and down weekend by getting back on the podium and Rene Rast bringing McLaren's first podium of the season too. Mitch Evans had a wild weekend too! Oh and most importantly... What the hell is going on with the DS Powertrain teams?! All that and more on the next Motorsport101!

This week's The Race IndyCar Podcast ranks the top five teams by driver line-up, and wraps up IndyCar's first pre-season test at the $270 million Thermal Club track in Palm Springs. Co-hosts JR Hildebrand and Jack Benyon use The Race's recent feature ranking the IndyCar team's by driver line-up to assess the top five in greater detail. Who was number one? Why has one of IndyCar's ‘big three' fallen to fourth, and who got the top spot between Penske and Ganassi? Tune in to find out. Standout performances from the Thermal test are also analysed, with Kyle Kirkwood on the pace in his new seat at Andretti, rookie Agustin Canapino surprising onlookers and Marcus Armstrong matching the pace of his new Ganassi team-mates. This is a jam-packed episode, folks! First, Zoe and Hannah break down Red Bull's livery launch, Daniel Ricciardo's appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Ford's return to F1, and the horrendous article about the W-Series that surfaced last week. Then, they chat with Motorsport creator and Twitch streamer Ash Vandelay to discuss all things NASCAR, IndyCar, F1, and women in motorsport. Ash explains why American motorsports are so unique, why F1 needs to embrace America (and make the sport more accessible!), and reveals how we can all easily support women in motorsport. They also discuss ESPN's potential coverage of F1, Logan Sargent's upcoming debut, and whether or not Andretti will get into F1.

Welcome back to another episode of Chasing the Apex, I'm your host Sid Sudhir and today we are sitting down with racing driver Sting Ray Robb. Sting Ray first got in a go-kart at age 5 and it wasn't long before he was racing competitively, winning a national karting championship in 2015. This helped springboard him into his car racing career, starting with the Pro Mazda series before transitioning to the Indy Pro 2000 series. He spent two years in Indy Pro with Juncos, winning the series in 2020 which earned him a move up to the Indy Lights series. In 2022 Robb had another impressive season with Andretti in the Indy Lights series, finishing 2nd in the standings with two poles and one race win. Sting Ray will be competing as a rookie in IndyCar this year with Dale Coyne Racing. Social Media Links: https://linktr.ee/chasingtheapex

Martyn Lee is joined on stage by Luke Smith, Alex Kalinauckas and Stuart Codling to discuss some of the recent new stories dominating Formula 1. Michael Andretti has publicly complained about the resistance of existing teams regarding his proposal to enter F1. What's the problem with welcoming extra cars on the grid? Or with the sports recent success, should they leave alone a winning formula? We also discuss the chances for Red Bull, given their cost cap punishment. Can Mercedes recover over the winter and challenge the champions? And what will Ferrari expect in 2023 under their new Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur.

Tonight on Trackside, Kevin Lee and Curt Cavin open the show with the gaining steam of Andretti Autosport's bid to join Formula 1. Kevin and Curt discuss the response from Formula 1 on the news that Andretti is partnering with Cadillac and General Motors. Why is there pushback? Why does it threaten the F1 hierarchy as it currently stands? Kevin and Curt break it down and extend the conversation to the relationship between IndyCar and Formula 1. Then, the show turns to driver developments, the seeming inevitability of Takuma Sato running ovals for Chip Ganassi Racing and how money impacts development drivers and filled seats. In the second hour, Kevin is joined by Dillon Welch from the Chili Bowl in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dillon joins the show as Trackside's event correspondent and participating driver to discuss what's going on in Tulsa and what makes the Chili Bowl so unique. Welch breaks down how the preliminary races work and how difficult it is to qualify for the main race at the end of the week. After the conversation with Welch, Kevin and Curt continue discussing the Chili Bowl, Will Power racing in Rolex 24 and other news of the day. Then, Rahal Letterman Lanigan COO Steve Eriksen joins the show having just joined RLL Racing as part of a restructuring in the leadership of the team. Eriksen and Curt discuss his new role and what the team has to offer. Eriksen details the workflow of his new job and how to take RLL to the next level. To round out the show, Daniel Incandela joins to discuss Podium Life, another place for racing fans to partake in stories, media and content around motorsports. Incandela discusses what Podium Life is and how he returned to the world of racing.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
