Steve Poltz is a modern day troubadour, touring relentlessly and playing long and winding and energetic as all heck live solo acoustic shows. It's been 6 years since I lost my best friend, Rockin' Rodney Speed. This week's episode is entirely dedicated to him. It's not often I finish recording an episode and think "Wow, that was a great one!" but today was exactly that. It's 2 hours and 21 minutes about my relationship with alcohol. And depression. Because of course they are more closely interwoven than the kevlar fibers on a bulletproof vest. A lot of people have reached out lately telling me I've inspired them on their own journeys of sobriety. So I laid mine all out right here. This week I ramble and reflect on 2021, the holidays and how I got here. I dive into my feelings on capitalism, loss of ambition, not wanting to be a cog in the machine of money-making, and what might be next. This week I'm back in Las Vegas, Nevada to see The Rolling Stones! This week I'm posting a podcast I guested on - Stoke The Fire Episode 35. We dive deep into my mental health struggles, breakdown, suicide attempt, and ultimately my recovery. Which is ongoing. We laugh, we cry - a lot - laugh some more and end with a lot of smiles. It's not easy keeping a Positive Mental Attitude. It takes a lot of diligence and daily work. But it's worth it. On my 48th birthday, I sit down in my "Hot Tub Suite" in a Super 8 Motel in Grangeville, Idaho and ramble about my recent adventures, my love / hate relationship with birthdays and reflect on what huge leaps Ive made in my own life over the course of my last two birthdays. This week I ramble about the importance of being present. Of being here in the now. There is no past and there is no future.there is only the now, so make the most of it. And the age old importance finding something to do that puts you in service to others. Whether that's booking shows for them to play and / or enjoy, or being a bartender and helping a wonderful woman with her little tavern out in the middle of nowhere! Or just being a good friend to the people you love, and who love you back!

This week I ramble how life isn't supposed to be a straight line. Curveballs, hills, peaks, valleys Those are the things that make life worth living. After being a successful concert promoter for 23 years, and working in the rock n roll biz for 35 years, I finally admit to myself, and by extension to the listeners, that Im over it and don't want to do it anymore. And about how OK that all is. 

This week I ramble some ore about Yellow Pine. My new home away from home, and maybe (hopefully?) my future full time home. Its 52 miles from Mccall down a dusty dirt road and it's deep in the heart of nowhere, populated with a cast of kooky characters, and now they've got me to contend with behind he bar at the World Famous Yellow Pine Tavern!

This week I ramble about the mostly positive effects of a mental health "coming out", a phone free weekend adventure ride and camping trip in the Back Country of Idaho, and the timeless lessons learned from a couple of 19th century texts - Tom Sawyer and Walden. This was one of my favorite episodes to record, even if it was in the blazing hot sun. Climate change is rad! Oh, and I kick it all off with the origin tale of my long and ongoing international pretty crime spree!

It's been a weird week. Last week's episode was a huge release and led to a lot of catharsis but also the reopening of old wounds. I received a lot of outpouring of support yet it's all been tough to process. It was a bit tough to organize my thoughts, so please bear with me. This week I work through some of that and recount a few adventures of white water rafting and a trip to a tiny town called Yellow Pine.
