In this week's episode, we dust off our iPods and XM boomboxes to travel back to the decade where many claimed that rock n' roll was dead and that there was no more good music. That's right; we are listening to obscure tracks from George W.'s Y2K! Join us on this journey back through the decade of iTunes, MySpace, autotune, and some really great rock n' punk n' metal!New to InObscuria? It's all about digging up obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode, we talk about the lost and forgotten gems of the 00s. A decade where the ideas of record companies, albums, physical product, and the old way of promoting artists were all challenged. This decade literally changed the path for how music was to be consumed going forward.Songs this week include:Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – “Six Barrel Shotgun” from Take Them On Your Own(2003)Flickerstick – “Girls & Pills” from Tarantula (2004) Totimoshi – “Milagrosa” from Milagrosa (2008)Hey Mercedes – “Everybody's Working For The Weak” from The Weekend EP (2002)Hurt – “Pandora” from Goodbye To The Machine (2009)The Soundtrack Of Our Lives – “Sister Surround” from Behind The Music (2001)The Anniversary – “Crooked Crown” from Your Majesty (2002)The Cooper Temple Clause – “Promises Promises” from Kick Up The Fire, And Let The Flames Break Loose (2003)Big Jack Pneumatic – “Mainstream” from Half-Ass Cool (EP) (2003) Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria StoreVisit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/

Formed in early October of 1995, Boxer was a Boston-based four piece fast on the rise in the indie scene. With aggressive, heartfelt lyrics Boxer delivered the finest in east-coast punk. They managed to share the stage with acts such as Lagwagon, Weston, Lifetime, Screw 32, Good Riddance, Jimmy Eat World, and Bracket. Their debut and only album, "The Hurt Process," was put out on Vagrant Records as the labels first release. The band broke up soon after that release and Dave and Will went on to form The Lot Six. Welcome to this weeks Drum Channel Podcast with host Billy Amendola and his guest Nick Gross.  Nick is a co-founder, along with his partner Travis Mills as part of the duo's band Girlfriends. They are currently touring to promote their latest album, “(e)motion sickness,” as well as the bands previous self-titled debut album. (Which accumulated over thirty million streams)  Not only a leading band member, besides drums and production, Nick co-writes and plays just about every instrument on the record.  Starting at a very young age and inspired by Travis Barker (who appears on a song from the duo's debut), Gross has done it all in the music business from both sides of the glass.  Nick runs his own studio-complex Noise Nest and in 2018 became a partner and owner of Big Noise Records along with former Vagrant Records head Joh Cohen and frontman and superstar producer John Feldmann (Felde started the bands Goldfinger and the Used, as well as producing Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne, 5 Seconds of Summer, All Time Low and more).  Gross is one of the busiest and successful musicians/ entrepreneurs in the business. Let's listen in for Nick's words of wisdom as he takes us from the studio, to stage to behind the scenes of running a label and more.

On today's episode, I do a deep dive on Dashboard Confessional's second official full-length album "The Place You Have Come to Fear the Most". The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most is the second studio album recorded by the American emo band Dashboard Confessional, released on March 20, 2001, through Vagrant Records. Dashboard Confessional started as an acoustic side project for vocalist/guitarist Chris Carrabba while he was fronting Further Seems Forever. The project's first album The Swiss Army Romance was released in early 2000 through local independent label Fiddler Records. Using his connections within the punk scene, Carrabba was able to perform on a few tours. Though the audience wasn't used to acoustic instrumentation, Carrabba won the crowds over. Eventually demand for the album was exceeding the label's supply, which resulted in owner Amy Fleisher licensing the record to Drive-Thru Records. In October, Carrabba announced his departure from Further Seems Forever. LET'S CONNECT: Kyle's Instagram Kyle's Facebook Email: Kyledevlinfitness@gmail.com

This week, I'm highlighting an album that came out in the year 2016, Thrice's "To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere". This was my favorite record released in 2016, so I felt as if it needed to be remembered and honored appropriately. To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere is the ninth studio album by American rock band Thrice. The album was released on May 27, 2016, through Vagrant Records. To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere is Thrice's first release after a four-year hiatus that lasted from mid-2012 to mid-2015, and the band's first album of original material in five years since 2011's Major/Minor. During the hiatus, most of the band members continued performing music and pursued other interests, which included moving to other cities or states with their new families. After reuniting and performing sporadic festival dates in 2015, Thrice announced the band's intention to release a new album the following year. Because of the distance between the members' new homes, the demos for To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere were written, recorded, shared and worked on digitally using software programs that were not as prevalent before they went on hiatus. Produced by Eric Palmquist, the resulting recording was a hard rock, post-hardcore and grunge album that features songs with more politically and socially charged lyrics than those on previous Thrice albums. Thrice formally announced the release of To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere in March 2016 and released two singles in support of the album; "Black Honey" in May 2016 and "Hurricane" in April 2017. The album managed to reach number 15 on the Billboard Hot 200, and received mostly positive reviews from critics; some were moved by the lyrical aspects, while many others praised the album's sonic diversity, especially the heavier parts. Because most members of Thrice settled down and started families during their hiatus, the band decided to be more selective about its touring schedules after reforming so the members could spend more time at home. When I Hit the Ground is the second studio album by American rock musician Ace Enders, using the name Ace Enders and a Million Different People. The album was released on 17 March 2009 through Vagrant Records. The album peaked at number 15 on the Top Heatseekers chart and number 44 on the Top Independent Albums chart. Arthur Carl "Ace" Enders (born April 19, 1982, in Hammonton, New Jersey) is an American musician. Enders is the lead singer and guitarist of the band The Early November. He is also the lead musician, songwriter and co-producer in his band, I Can Make a Mess Like Nobody's Business. He has also released music under the name Ace Enders and a Million Different People. In December 2008, Ace Enders and a Million Different People released the single "Bitter Sweet Symphony", a cover of The Verve song, on the iTunes Store. The song involves multiple artists including Mark Hoppus, Aaron Marsh, Craig Owens, Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, Bryce Avary, Kenny Vasoli, Matt Thiessen, and Duane Okun. All of the proceeds from the song went to VH1's Save the Music Foundation. Ace Enders and a Million Different People released its second album, Enders' third solo album, on March 17, 2009, through Vagrant/Drive-Thru Records. The album is titled When I Hit the Ground. Ace Enders and a Million Different People went on tour with The All-American Rejects on the I Wanna Rock Tour starting in early April 2009.

Everynight Fire Works is the debut album by American rock band Hey Mercedes. Following the demise of Braid, most of the members formed Hey Mercedes, with guitarist Mark Dawursk joining in early 2000. The band released a self-titled EP through Polyvinyl Record Co., before signing to Vagrant Records at the end of the year. They recorded their debut with Burning Airlines member J. Robbins at Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Minnesota in April 2001. Everynight Fire Works is an alternative rock, emo, indie rock and pop punk record that drew comparisons to Burning Airlines, Jets to Brazil, and Shudder to Think. Everynight Fire Works was announced for release shortly after recording, but was delayed a few times distribution troubles or legal issues that Vagrant was having. It was eventually released on October 23, where it was met with a mixed-to-positive reaction from music critics, with some commenting on the group's maturity and guitar work, as well as Nanna's vocals. Sometime after release, Dawursk left the band and was replaced with Michael Shumaker, and drummer Damon Atkinson spent some time touring with Saves the Day. The band went on two stints of the US, one as part of the Vagrant America arena tour, with other acts on the label. In all, Everynight Fire Works was promoted with over 200 shows.
