This week in our "Journey Through Scripture" series, Pastor Jim Ellis dives into the book of James. We often try to live up to a spiritual "to-do list," believing that performance makes us complete. James offers a radical aim: living from the reality that you are already made complete and perfect in Christ. Discover the two profound truths—His presence and His promise—that assure you lack nothing in Jesus, allowing you to stop striving and start resting in your fullness in him. #BCC #Gospel #JourneyThroughScripture #ReadBible #Unity #BibleStudy #ChristianLiving #JimEllis #BiblicalTruth #BCCBismarck #StopStriving #BookOfJames #CompleteInChrist #LackNothing #HisPromiseSupport the showFind out more about us at BismarckCC.org. What made Paul agonize over more than anything else? What was his "ministry obsession?" And how does that relentless pursuit and endless labor mean for your life today? Found out in this week's Vintage Truth Podcast!
Today's Promise: Colossians 2:9-10 Have you ever felt like something is missing in your life? Humanity has been searching for fulfillment since Adam and Eve turned away from God in the Garden of Eden. But Jesus changed everything. He carries the fullness of God and offers it to anyone who comes to Him in faith. As a Christian, you are already complete in Christ. There is nothing more you need to experience the abundant life He has for you. All the fullness of Christ that dwelt in Jesus now dwells in you. In this episode, we explore what it means to be complete in Christ, how His fullness transforms your life, and practical ways to live in the abundance He offers every day.
Paul is sounding the alarm about the Colossians being deceived by new ideas about adding to the gospel. Certain practices, food, festivals, self-denial, forms of worship, were being promoted and blended into the church, but Paul exposes and calls them out. Paul brings them back to Jesus - we are made complete through him and he is the fullness of God, nothing extra needed, no "Jesus plus". So what do we listen to? Rules that are only shadows of reality? Jesus Christ himself is that reality.
How divine love, surrender, and grace free us from striving and lead us to true rest.We gathered in gratitude and worship, reflecting on the beauty of God's love revealed through Christ's sufficiency. The discussion centered on the invitation to come to Jesus for rest, freedom, and transformation. Through Scripture, we explored how believers find completeness not in self-effort, but in Christ's finished work on the cross. The message emphasized salvation by grace, continual spiritual growth through faith, and the call to surrender our will to God's love. We were reminded that His love is unconditional, His Word eternal, and His yoke light—an invitation to experience intimacy and freedom in relationship with Him.Themes:True sufficiency is found in Christ alone, not in self (2 Corinthians 3:5; Philippians 4:19)“Come unto Me” is a continual call to rest in Christ's love and finished work (Matthew 11:28–30)God's love draws through conviction, not condemnation (John 6:44; John 16:8)Grace empowers holiness—never permission to sin (Romans 6:1–2)The Holy Spirit reveals truth and sustains growth (John 1:1–18; Romans 8:9)Believers must look away from distractions and fix their eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2)The resurrection secures hope: all things work together for good (Romans 8:28)Salvation invites continual surrender and renewal (Philippians 2:12–13)God's love is unchanging, personal, and proven through the cross (Romans 5:8)His eternal Word anchors the believer's confidence and peace (Isaiah 40:8; John 17:17)Scripture References: Matthew 11:28–30; John 1:1–18; John 6:44; John 16:8; Romans 6:1–2; Romans 8:9, 8:28; Philippians 2:12–13; Philippians 4:19; 2 Corinthians 3:5; Hebrews 12:2; Isaiah 40:8; John 17:17Reflection Question: Am I resting in the finished work of Christ and His love, or still striving to find sufficiency in my own strength?

One of the most amazing statements in Scripture is that by being in Christ, we are complete. We are whole. We are not lacking. It is a complete truth. It is amazing because we see flaws, brokenness, and weaknesses. God tells us we are already made new people, whole and holy. He stands with open arms telling us we are healed. We can stay frozen where we are or we can step into His kingdom and live in who He says we really are. Daylight Meditations is a daily podcast from CFO North America. The world hasn't gotten darker because darkness has grown stronger—it's gotten darker because the Church forgot who we are and what we're called to do. In this powerful message, we explore how Christians have been "spoiled" and stripped of God's power through man's philosophies, traditions, and ways that are not after Christ (Colossians 2:8-10).Key Points Covered:- Why many believers have lost sight of their completeness in Jesus Christ.- How the enemy uses deception to strip Christians of spiritual power.- The difference between religious comfort and true discipleship.- God's call for a remnant to rise in this hour.- Moving from services to surrender, comfort to conquest, safety to spiritual warfare.Scripture Foundation:Colossians 2:8-10 - Warning against being captured by empty philosophies and remembering our completeness in ChristThe Awakening:There's a remnant rising—men and women who will:- Take Jesus at His word completely.- Deny themselves and take up their cross daily. - Follow Him boldly into enemy territory.- See cities transformed and cultures changed.- Advance God's kingdom for His glory. This isn't about religion or ritual—it's about authentic discipleship that transforms lives, communities, and nations. The power of the Holy Spirit is returning to those who will walk in total surrender to Christ.---

Complete in Christ Colossians 2 Chew the Bible S3Paul expresses his deep concern for the believers, wanting them to be encouraged, united in love, and rooted in the full knowledge of Christ. He warns them not to be deceived by fine-sounding arguments or human philosophies that are empty and based on worldly traditions rather than Christ. He explains that in Christ dwells the fullness of God, and believers are made complete in Him. Through Christ, they have been spiritually circumcised, buried with Him in baptism, and raised with Him through faith.Paul emphasizes that God forgave their sins and canceled the written record of debt, nailing it to the cross. Christ disarmed rulers and authorities, triumphing over them. Finally, he warns against letting others judge them by religious rituals, food laws, festivals, or Sabbaths, since these were shadows pointing to Christ. He cautions against false humility, worship of angels, and strict rules about the physical body, which have no real power to restrain sinful desires.Key Themes:Fullness and completeness in Christ.Freedom from human traditions and religious legalism.Christ's victory over sin and spiritual powers.True faith focuses on Christ, not man-made rules.Your words were found and I ate them
Day 12 COMPLETE IN CHRIST (2:8-10) ! ! by
If you are united to Jesus by faith, then your salvation is complete forever.
Should we be alarmed by what Paul warns here in Colossians? Well, consider a report released last June highlighting the global trade in unapproved and counterfeit medicines. If those results sound alarming, then you'll understand why Paul was so concerned for the Christians in Colosse. He wanted them to be fully aware of counterfeit Christianity in their midst, offering supplement rituals and regulations which were falsely held as being necessary in addition to Christ, and the danger this presented. But it's not just a warning. Paul presents us with wonderful reassurance and even prescribes what we can do about it.
Lacking nothing is the perpetual state of sons and that which we have received, needs no additives or supplements, seeing as it is the fulness of God, facilitated through and in CHRiSt Jesus. When I was a skateboarding teenager, we didn't have internet or cell phones to order things. We had magazines and one magazine that I subscribed to was a skateboarding magazine called “Thrasher Magazine.” In Thrasher, there were ads selling skateboards and at the top of the add it would say, “Buy a complete for only $99!” which meant you could buy everything you need to skate from the ad: the deck, grip tape, trucks, riser pads, bearings, and wheels. When that thing came in the mail, you were ready to skate! Paul says, “When we have Jesus, we are complete.” We are ready! We have everything we need! We do not lack anything because we belong to Christ! Do you have everything you need?!?!
Discover how you are already perfect and complete in your spirit. Embrace this life-changing truth and experience transformation today.
