Apologetics Live episode 119 Do all the spiritual gifts, like tongues, continue today, or did some of the sign gifts cease? This is a debate among many Christians. Pastors Andrew and Justin will examine the Scriptures to discuss the topic from the Bible. We will see what God says on the topic. Though there is much discussion about charismatic or spiritual gifts, many come to different interpretations of Scripture because of their experience. Many Christians teach people about speaking in tongues, but is it biblical. Andrew and Justin go through 1 Corinthians 12-14 and focus on 1 Corinthians 13:8-12 to answer the question have tongues ceased. Their explanation shows us that the charismatic gifts ceased with the completion of Scripture. When the cannon was closed then there was not more need for revelation gifts or gifts that would be to vindicate the authors of the Bible. Have you ever heard the phrase; ‘method in the madness'. It means that there is a purpose in doing something that is seemingly crazy. For many people, marriage can seem a crazy idea that is little more than hard work with not so much fun. Pastors Andrew & Louise remind us in this podcast that no matter how crazy marriage seems, God knows what He is doing. They believe that amongst other things He is trying to teach us something!
The first time we hear about the idea of family in the Bible is right at the very beginning of time when God created Eve from Adam (Genesis 2:22–24) and established the very first family. Most of us know the story of how that went! God's plan for the happy marriage was thwarted when they were disobedient and started the blame game to cover their mistakes. Pastors Andrew & Louise discuss what a family fall out that was and talk through what the Bible has to say on the matter.
