When I was a skateboarding teenager, we didn't have internet or cell phones to order things. We had magazines and one magazine that I subscribed to was a skateboarding magazine called “Thrasher Magazine.” In Thrasher, there were ads selling skateboards and at the top of the add it would say, “Buy a complete for only $99!” which meant you could buy everything you need to skate from the ad: the deck, grip tape, trucks, riser pads, bearings, and wheels. When that thing came in the mail, you were ready to skate! Paul says, “When we have Jesus, we are complete.” We are ready! We have everything we need! We do not lack anything because we belong to Christ! Do you have everything you need?!?!

This week: a sister-cast episode to a series we have called the Inbetweeners where we on the bands straddling the 80s and 90s in rock n' punk n' metal. This is more specific to metal in the 90s after feeling the impact of the overwhelming shifting of sounds during the decade. Metal became a dirty word by the mid-90s as grunge and alternative took over the rock world, but a new movement in the metal genre blended all of these influences with the heavy. Thus, we give you - 90s Alternative Metal! What's this InObscuria thing? Our podcast exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we cover mostly bands that have been forgotten including some bands that we played early on in the podcast. The transition from the heavy metal 80s to the punk-edged alternative of the 90s was a time like no other, and metal bands that began during this time put it all in an industrial-strength metal blender. Hope ya dig! Songs this week include:Quicksand – “Thorn In My Side” from Manic Compression (1995)Fragile Porcelain Mice – “Brown Nickel” from Frostbiddin (1996)Therapy? – “Nasuea” from Nurse (1992)Corrosion Of Conformity – “Clean My Wounds” from Deliverance (1994)Prong – “Unconditional” from Prove You Wrong (1991)Fight – “I Am Alive” from A Small Deadly Space (1995)Life Of Agony – “This Time” from River Runs Red (1993)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

Stacy is the creator of the “Blood of Gods” zine, a biannual wine publication that was inspired by his history at Thrasher Magazine and his love for Death Metal. The zine was started a joke to poke a finger in the eye of the stuffy wine publications and draw some pretty cool comparisons between the wine business and the music world. Blood of Gods has now grown into a real resource and inspiration for wine geeks and those initially intimidated by the “old guard” in their ivory towers. The artwork is amazing and the stories approach wine in a way that is much more “palatable” to the casual consumer. Stacy was definitely one of our favorite people we met on our trip to Washington. This week I'm speaking with Brian Anderson. During his nearly 25 year career as a professional skateboarder, there is very little Brian hasn't accomplished. Within his first 3 years in the industry, he was named Thrasher Magazine's Rookie of the Year, Skater of the Year, and won the World Cup of Skateboarding. Accomplishments made all the more impressive having left his full time job as a line cook just a few years prior.Known for his aggressive and powerful style, Brian is a skater's skater and fan favorite having appeared in dozens of films and advertisements. His passion for getting tricks is undeniable, with a history of slams that defy logic, but command respect by those inside and outside of skateboarding. Motivated by a strong work ethic, Brian's willingness to continually push himself was at one time fueled by the anger and frustration at having to keep a deeply personal part of his life secret, for fear of how it may be received. After establishing himself as one of the greatest street skaters of all time, Brian made the choice to openly share a long hidden side of himself with the world, having no way to predict the sea change within skateboarding that would follow. Widely admired and respected by his peers for his accomplishments on his board, Brian's transparency and willingness to completely be himself off of his board may prove to be his lasting legacy. For a sport inclusive of differences and a shared ethos of progression, for many people, myself included, Brian Anderson is the embodiment of what it truly means to call oneself a ‘skater'.It is with great pride that I present Brian Anderson on The Days Between..

A real-life, LEGEND in 2 Games. First Black Skateboarder, on the cover of Thrasher Magazine. Gave us the soundtrack to our lives, with McRad's “Weakness”. Here we are, over 4 decades later. My man is still out here touring, and hitting anything concrete along the way. Ladies & gentlemen. Don't ever get it twisted. Chuck Treece, IS the culture. Between tour stops with longtime friend G Love. I had a chance to catch-up with the man himself. We talk everything from playing on The Roots first album. His ground-breaking Thrasher cover. 80's backyard ramp-jams. The transition from the vert era, to street skating. And, all great things skateboarding!! Hearing Chuck Treece speak on how Ray Barbee changed the game. Thug tears were shed. For the culture, of course. This isn't over, folks. We got more, coming back at ya! In the meantime- thank you to Chuck, for taking the time to do this. You know how we do about this time. It's the mighty, mighty WCRP. Tune in- Clyde Singleton
