Text us here! Hersh, we have had a plethora (big word for abuncha) disasters when it comes to the ministry of low expectations but today may have taken the cake (an old proverb that describes what we're saying here today). We recorded 30 mins of the most flawless audio/video we may have ever recorded and wasn't recording at all... It was the same as if we were 4 friends (loose term) talking on the speaker phone to an old friend and none of it was captured... So, we started over but that didn't hinder the usual underwhelming quality of the program. We had a wonderful day today because we got to talk to an old friend of Pod'N Me and he shared a special project that he has been working on for the past few months. He's a preacher friend of mine, Rev. Zach Cordle, that I met a few years back and he actually used to do some podcasting himself. He has been doing a music project for a very special cause as you will hear on the program today. Hannah Lloyd Cornett is recording a music CD in honor of her brother and sister-in-law that were tragically taken from this life while doing mission work. The proceeds from this CD will go to a building at the Bible College that they attended and is being constructed in their honor. If you want to order the CD or find out more about it here is some information:CD's can be purchased directly through Hannah's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/share/1JT4hYSJnf/?mibextid=wwXIfrCD's will be available around the 1st or 2nd week of July.God bless & Enjoy! This week, Virginia Democrats went to the polls for primaries, choosing state Senator Ghazala Hashmi as their candidate for Lieutenant Governor this fall. Sen. Hashmi joined the show to discuss her primary win, what it means for Northern Virginia residents, and how she will approach November's general election, where she will face Republican radio talk show host John Reid.Virginia voters selected Jay Jones as the Democratic nominee for Attorney General; he'll go up against incumbent Republican Jason Miyares in November. WAMU's Northern Virginia reporter Margaret Barthel got behind the mic to break down the results. Plus, she set the stage for the widely-anticipated governor's race in the fall. Margaret also previewed the Democratic firehouse primary set for later this month to fill Virginia's 11th Congressional District seat after the death of longtime Congressman Gerry Connolly. The D.C. Council is deep into budget hearings, with hundreds of residents coming out to express their views on proposed cuts, the deal to build a new football stadium, and a pitch to repeal the tipped minimum wage increase. Ward 6 Councilmember Charles Allen joined Kojo and Tom to discuss his priorities in a tight budget year. Plus, Allen weighs in on D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's push for stricter youth curfew laws. The bill calls for an 11 p.m. citywide summer curfew for 17-year-olds or younger. Currently, the curfew starts at midnight and applies to those 16 or younger. The proposal also would allow D.C. police to create special zones where the curfew could be set as early as 7 p.m. for 15 consecutive days. However, Councilmember Allen questioned the strategy."Are we pulling away MPD resources to go enforce a curfew that we need them in other places,?" he asked.Allen also said a tougher curfew shouldn't be passed as emergency legislation and without public hearings. The Council is expected to consider it early next month.Send us questions and comments for guests: kojo@wamu.orgFollow us on Instagram: instagram.com/wamu885Follow us on Bluesky: bsky.app/wamu.org

Text us here! Hershall, all I can say is buckle up for this one... We went longer than normal but there was no good stopping place. The competition was palpable (big word for felt) in studio 18. Speaking of felt, that's exactly what was brought up during a long rant about being insured by our Deacon Dustin... yeah, roofing felt! I think that is the first time tha was been discussed on the trash-cast. We enjoyed a new segment of wrong answers called "Riffin' on the Road" that has promises of gaining all sorts or new ways into the vacuum of the mind of Gen Z Boy, Brooks. He also shared an uncomfortable moment for me as a minister in a local electrical supply store. We had a long fought-out Tune battle in the end. In Psalm 23, David writes from experience, declaring, “The Lord is my shepherd.” He describes a God who provides, protects, and is always present. Fathers, if your children rewrote Psalm 23 based on their experience with you, what would they say? Though we'll never lead perfectly, walking closely with the Good Shepherd helps us reflect Him more clearly. Every father can ask these three questions each day: Do I provide? Do I protect? Am I present? God didn't equip your wife to lead your home—He entrusted that role to you. And as you follow the Good Shepherd, He will help you provide, protect, and be present the way your children need. Listen to this Father's Day sermon based on Psalm 23. The District is preparing for the military parade celebrating the Army's 250th anniversary and falls on President Trump's 79th birthday. The procession features thousands of soldiers and 70-ton tanks and will require roads to close around the city as well as DCA airport. City officials are worried about what all of this heavy machinery could mean for local streets and infrastructure. At-Large D.C. Councilmember Christina Henderson joined the show to weigh in.Plus, she discussed the Council wanting more time to approve the RFK stadium deal. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser included a billion dollars for a new Washington Commanders football stadium in her proposed budget, which she unveiled late last month. The Mayor has said the Council needs to approve the deal and the budget by July 15, or the city risks the team backing out.But some councilmembers, including Henderson, wants to deal with RFK stadium separately. She said six weeks isn't enough time to review the complex deal."We need the opportunity to do due diligence. And what I would say to the Commanders, if they're listening, is that I would say the vast majority of my colleagues have not said no," Henderson said, "And it is in your best interest that we get this right."Last week, Prince George's County elected Aisha Braveboy in a special election for county executive. The county's former State's Attorney got behind the mic to discuss her top priorities, including the need to unify the county government. She said she's in alignment with the council and has an excellent relationship with the school board. Another focus of her administration will be getting local government agencies on the same page, especially when it comes to telework policies."You know, it's very different from agency to agency, which I think creates a morale issue. It also creates a productivity issue," Braveboy said. "And I want people to be more oriented to come into the office to work collaboratively with their colleagues and also serve the public a little bit more efficiently."Plus, Braveboy discussed the resignation of Prince George's County Schools Superintendent Millard House and her naming Shawn Joseph as the interim as a nationwide search gets under way.Send us questions and comments for guests: kojo@wamu.orgFollow us on Instagram: instagram.com/wamu885Follow us on Bluesky: bsky.app/wamu.org

We wanted give a wonderful invitation to you and all of the listeners to come to the youth camp that we all take part in... The details are in this episode and prepare to be wowed. You will get all kinds of chances to do all kinds of stuff. Our guest host dubbed (big word for something unknown to the typist) it "Youth Camp Pod-pack" -hence the name of this episode. Another wonderful thing that happened is when you went to do your signature sign-off, there was a real hitch in the process... Speaking of a hitch in the process, we shared a recent flub up that our song leader, Bro. Brad, experienced and what followed was his exit from the country (nothing criminal and we can neither confirm nor deny whether his exit had anything to do with his departure) so we had his stunt double, Brett Cottrell subbing for him today... Paul is writing the letter to the Colossians from a place of love because he loves the bride of Christ. Paul wants the Colossians to know that he has been praying for them and specifically wants them to know what he's been praying over them. The pulse of this prayer is all about unity. Paul is praying for this idea of togetherness. He consistently prayed for the church's protection, the church's unity, and the church's strength. Any church, any local body of believers who are preaching and teaching the gospel is a high-value target for the enemy. Paul didn't view the churches as competitors but as partners. As the church, we are not in competition but in a partnership to see people come to know Jesus Christ. Not only that, but it is imperative that we do life with people and surround ourselves with other believers because God didn't create us to do life alone. Listen to this sermon about living in unity and in partnership in the fourth part of our In The Word series, walking through the book of Colossians.Check out our video version of this episode: https://youtu.be/iit4prVDDGISubscribe to our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/8wmeCwBf_zkLearn more about us at chestnutmountain.orgFollow us on Facebook & Instagram @chestnutmtn_Don't forget to subscribe to this podcast, leave a review, and let us know what you think.

And he gave them the names that his father had given them. 19 But when Isaac's servants dug in the valley and found there a well of spring water, 20 the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek,[a] because they contended with him. 21 Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over that also, so he called its name Sitnah.[b] 22 And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth,[c] saying, “For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”23 From there he went up to Beersheba. 24 And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Fear not, for I am with you and will bless you and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham's sake.” 25 So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the Lord and pitched his tent there. And there Isaac's servants dug a well.26 When Abimelech went to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his adviser and Phicol the commander of his army, 27 Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, seeing that you hate me and have sent me away from you?” 28 They said, “We see plainly that the Lord has been with you. So we said, let there be a sworn pact between us, between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you, 29 that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of the Lord.” 30 So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank. 31 In the morning they rose early and exchanged oaths. And Isaac sent them on their way, and they departed from him in peace. 32 That same day Isaac's servants came and told him about the well that they had dug and said to him, “We have found water.” 33 He called it Shibah;[d] therefore the name of the city is Beersheba to this day.Footnotesa. Text us here! Hershall, I hope the title doesn't throw you off but we did it... I will let you listen to the program to find out exactly what IT is. I think you will be amazed at what and where we have been. All thanks to our great patrons on Patreon we were able to pull off the surprise of the century. It is a historic day here on Pod'N Me. We are just a few days past our 5th anniversary and we heard a familiar voice today. After getting that NEWs, we had a serious conversation about being desperate and finished up with a song (or two) and made it to the end and hopefully will enjoy the future but not free of offense probably... Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Something extraordinary is happening in Catholic communities worldwide. Young people are flocking to churches, filling pews, and rediscovering ancient truths in surprising numbers. What's drawing this digital generation back to tradition? The answer may lie in the example of Carlo Acutis, the "saint in sneakers" who died at just 15 but left an indelible mark on modern Catholicism. Mary Beth Bracy joins us to explore "God's Influencer," revealing how this computer-programming teenager combined deep Eucharistic devotion with thoroughly modern sensibilities.Carlo stands as a compelling counter-witness to our culture's emptiness. Join us as we explore how God continues raising up saints perfectly suited for our age—and what Carlo's remarkable life means for all seeking deeper connection in our distracted world. His example reminds us that no matter your age or circumstances, the path to transformation begins with a simple decision to let God's love transform your ordinary life into something extraordinary.Get you copy of God's Influencer Here! Paul begins to talk about the mindset of “no pain, no gain” and how he has embraced the battle and responsibility of being a disciple of Christ. In Colossians 1:24-29, he shares his testimony to build credibility and inspire the Colossians, teaching that salvation is not the finish line but the starting line for a mission with God. Salvation means we have not only been saved from something, but we have been saved for something. Salvation marks the beginning of discipleship and the responsibility to proclaim, warn, and teach. Paul shows us that while our insecurities may make us hesitant, we must strive with God's strength and not let them rob us of our obedience. Even in suffering, Paul reminds us to trust God's plan and see our struggles as opportunities to know Him deeper. What has God saved you for? Text us here! Hershall, here we are again for the final day of our campmeeting series for 2025. I have greatly enjoyed having these pastors, Bro. Jon Brock, Bro. Davin Burnett and Bro. Jon Isaacs in studio to talk about how Christ should be reflected in all of our lives and that even goes for every relationship that we enjoy. We continued our discussion in Ephesians on the view that Paul gave us of how we treat one another now that we are in Christ. Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Young men are rising up and searching for the truth in a world that has consistently lied to them. Despite growing up in a toxic culture and relentlessly bombarded with digital distraction, they're discovering something profound: Scripture offers the authentic guidance, healing, and path they crave. In this Episode Deacon Greg Ferrell joins Jack to explore how daily Scripture reading, using an ancient technique called Lectio Divina, can transform lives and rewire minds damaged by cultural toxicity. The Claymore battle plan—a systematic approach to spiritual formation—places significant emphasis on spending 15-30 minutes daily with God's Word, particularly through Mass readings that connect Old and New Testaments into a cohesive narrative of salvation.Their discussion reveals practical wisdom for approaching Scripture: finding quiet space away from distractions, calming your mind, and approaching texts with an open heart asking "What does God want to show me?"Discussion Questions:How can understanding scripture transform lives? How does writing your thoughts down help solidify insights from scripture? Why are Personal Relationships vital for sharing faith? What is Lectio Divina? https://jp2renew.org/2025/02/05/lectio-divina/Listening is key to understanding God's message?Download the Claymore battle plan and begin your own journey into Scripture. Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”Something unexpected is happening in France. In a nation known as one of the world's most atheistic countries, Catholic churches are suddenly filling up with young faces. This Easter alone, over 10,000 adults were baptized into the Catholic Church—a staggering 160% increase from just eight years ago. Most remarkably, 42% of these new Catholics are young adults between 18-25 years old.Dr. Anne Hendershott, professor of sociology and director of the Veritas Center at Franciscan University, joins us to unpack this extraordinary Catholic renaissance and what it means for faith in America.
