Dog Food 2 Kings 9 Chew the Bible S3Jehu Anointed King (v. 1–13):Elisha sends a young prophet to secretly anoint Jehu, a commander in Israel's army, as king. The prophet declares that Jehu is chosen by God to destroy the house of Ahab and avenge the blood of the prophets and servants of the Lord shed by Jezebel. After the prophet departs, Jehu's fellow officers at first question him, but when Jehu tells them the message, they quickly proclaim him king.Jehu Kills Joram, King of Israel (v. 14–26):Jehu immediately acts. King Joram (son of Ahab) and King Ahaziah of Judah are at Jezreel, where Joram is recovering from battle wounds. As Jehu approaches, Joram rides out to meet him and asks if there is peace. Jehu replies that there can be no peace while Jezebel's idolatry and witchcraft continue. Realizing Jehu's intent, Joram tries to flee, but Jehu shoots an arrow through his heart. Jehu orders Joram's body thrown into the field of Naboth, fulfilling Elijah's prophecy of judgment for Ahab's family.Jehu Wounds Ahaziah, King of Judah (v. 27–29):Ahaziah tries to escape but is wounded by Jehu's men near Ibleam. He flees to Megiddo, where he dies. The Death of Jezebel (v. 30–37):Jehu then enters Jezreel, where Jezebel awaits him. She paints her eyes and adorns her head, mocking him from a window. Jehu commands her attendants to throw her down, and they do so. Jezebel's blood splatters on the wall and horses, and Jehu tramples her body. Later, when servants attempt to bury her, they find only her skull, feet, and hands, as dogs have eaten the rest — fulfilling Elijah's prophecy that Jezebel's body would be like dung on the field in Jezreel.Key Themes:God's judgment against Ahab's house fulfilled.Jehu as an instrument of divine justice. The certainty of God's prophetic word (everything Elijah foretold comes to pass).Your words were found and I ate them
New Identity Colossians 3 Chew the Bible S3Paul urges believers to set their hearts and minds on things above, where Christ is, rather than on earthly things. Since they have died with Christ and their life is now hidden in Him, they must put to death sinful behaviors such as sexual immorality, greed, anger, slander, and lying.Instead, they are to put on the new self, which is being renewed in Christ's image. In this new life, earthly divisions like Jew or Gentile, slave or free, do not matter—Christ is all and in all.Paul calls believers to clothe themselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness, and above all, love, which binds everything together. The peace of Christ should rule in their hearts, and the word of Christ should dwell richly among them, expressed through teaching, encouragement, and songs of worship. Whatever they do, they should do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. He also gives practical instructions for Christian households: wives should respect their husbands, husbands should love their wives, children should obey their parents, fathers should not embitter their children, and slaves should obey their earthly masters sincerely—ultimately working as for the Lord rather than for men.Key Themes:Seek heavenly values, not earthly ones.Put off the old sinful nature; put on the new Christlike nature.Unity in Christ transcends divisions.Love is the supreme virtue.Practical guidance for relationships in the Christian home and daily life.Your words were found and I ate them
Complete in Christ Colossians 2 Chew the Bible S3Paul expresses his deep concern for the believers, wanting them to be encouraged, united in love, and rooted in the full knowledge of Christ. He warns them not to be deceived by fine-sounding arguments or human philosophies that are empty and based on worldly traditions rather than Christ. He explains that in Christ dwells the fullness of God, and believers are made complete in Him. Through Christ, they have been spiritually circumcised, buried with Him in baptism, and raised with Him through faith.Paul emphasizes that God forgave their sins and canceled the written record of debt, nailing it to the cross. Christ disarmed rulers and authorities, triumphing over them. Finally, he warns against letting others judge them by religious rituals, food laws, festivals, or Sabbaths, since these were shadows pointing to Christ. He cautions against false humility, worship of angels, and strict rules about the physical body, which have no real power to restrain sinful desires.Key Themes:Fullness and completeness in Christ.Freedom from human traditions and religious legalism.Christ's victory over sin and spiritual powers.True faith focuses on Christ, not man-made rules.Your words were found and I ate them
God Glue Colossians 1 Chew the Bible Season 3Paul opens with greetings and thanksgiving, praising God for the faith and love of the Colossian believers. He prays that they would grow in spiritual wisdom, strength, and endurance. He then exalts Christ as supreme over all creation — the visible image of the invisible God, through whom everything was created and who holds all things together. Christ is the head of the church, the firstborn from the dead, and the one who reconciles all things to God through His blood shed on the cross.Paul reminds the Colossians that they were once alienated but are now reconciled in Christ, encouraging them to remain steadfast in faith. He also speaks of his own ministry, rejoicing in his sufferings for the sake of the church and striving to present everyone mature in Christ.Key Themes:Christ's supremacy and sufficiency.Redemption and reconciliation through Christ.Growing in spiritual maturity.Paul's joyful service in suffering for the gospel.Your words were found and I ate them
Jesus, I See What You've Done For Other People, And I Want That For Me 2 Kings 8 Chew the Bible S3The Shunammite Woman's Land Restored: Elisha warns the Shunammite woman to flee a seven-year famine. When she returns, her land has been seized. She goes to the king, and as she arrives, the king's conversation with Elisha's servant about the prophet's miracles leads to the immediate restoration of all her property.Hazael Murders Ben-Hadad: Elisha prophesies in Damascus that the ill King Ben-Hadad will die, and that his servant, Hazael, will become king and inflict great evil on Israel. Hazael returns and murders Ben-Hadad, taking his throne.Reigns of Jehoram and Ahaziah: Jehoram of Judah reigns for eight years and does evil, leading to Edom's rebellion. His son, Ahaziah, then reigns for one year, also doing evil and aligning himself with the wicked house of Ahab.Your words were found and I ate them
Stampede 2 Kings 7 Chew the Bible Season 3In 2 Kings 7, Samaria was under siege and suffering from famine. Elisha prophesied that the Lord would provide food the next day at the city gates. A royal officer doubted this, but Elisha told him he would see it happen but not eat of it. Meanwhile, four lepers went to the enemy Aramean camp and discovered it abandoned—the Lord had caused the Arameans to flee in fear. The lepers shared the news, and the people rushed out to plunder the camp, bringing relief from the famine. The officer who had doubted was stationed at the city gate, but when the people surged out in a stampede, he was trampled to death—fulfilling Elisha's prophecy.Your words were found and I ate them
Infused by the Holy Spirit Philippians 4 Chew the Bible Season 3Paul closes his letter with encouragement, practical advice, and gratitude. He urges the believers to stand firm in the Lord and settle disagreements peacefully (mentioning Euodia and Syntyche). He calls them to rejoice always, pray with thanksgiving, and trust God, who gives peace beyond understanding.Paul encourages them to focus their minds on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. He testifies that he has learned to be content in every situation—whether in need or abundance—because he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him.He thanks the Philippians for their generosity in supporting him financially, noting that their gifts are a pleasing offering to God and that God will supply all their needs according to His riches in glory. The letter ends with final greetings and a blessing of grace.Key Themes:Joy and peace through prayer and trust in God.Contentment in every circumstance through Christ.Generosity and God's provision.Keeping thoughts fixed on what is good and godly.Your words were found and I ate them
Paul warns the believers to watch out for false teachers who insist on circumcision and outward religious works. He explains that if anyone could boast in human credentials, it would be him — he was a Hebrew of Hebrews, a Pharisee, zealous, and blameless by the law's standards. Yet, he counts all of that as worthless compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ.Paul emphasizes that righteousness does not come through the law but through faith in Christ. His goal is to know Christ, share in His sufferings, and experience the power of His resurrection. He admits he has not “arrived,” but presses forward like a runner in a race, striving toward the heavenly prize in Christ Jesus. He urges believers to follow his example and warns against those who live as “enemies of the cross,” whose focus is earthly things. Instead, Christians are reminded that their true citizenship is in heaven, from where they eagerly await Christ, who will transform their lowly bodies into glorious ones like His.Key Themes:True righteousness comes by faith in Christ, not by works or heritage. The Christian life is like a race — pressing forward, not looking back.Believers are citizens of heaven, awaiting Christ's return.Your words were found and I ate them
Open Your Eyes 2 Kings 6 Chew the Bible Season 3The Borrowed Axe Head (v. 1–7): Elisha makes a borrowed axe head float after it falls into the Jordan River, showing God's concern for everyday needs.Aram vs. Israel (v. 8–23): The Aramean king tries to ambush Israel, but Elisha repeatedly warns Israel's king. When Aramean troops surround Elisha, God opens the servant's eyes to see heavenly chariots of fire. Elisha prays, and the enemy is struck with blindness, then led into Samaria, where they are spared instead of killed. The Siege of Samaria (v. 24–33): The Arameans besiege Samaria, leading to extreme famine. Things get so desperate that food prices skyrocket, and one shocking incident of cannibalism is reported to the king. The king, enraged, blames Elisha and vows to kill him, but Elisha remains confident in God's deliverance.Your words were found and I ate them
NaaahhhMan & Greedy Gehazi 2 Kings 5 Chew the Bible Season 3Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army, was a powerful and respected man, but he suffered from leprosy. A young Israelite servant girl told Naaman's wife that the prophet Elisha in Israel could heal him. Naaman went to Israel with a letter from his king and gifts, but the king of Israel panicked, thinking it was a trick. Elisha then invited Naaman to come to him. When Naaman arrived, Elisha did not meet him in person but sent a messenger telling him to wash seven times in the Jordan River. Naaman was offended at first, expecting a dramatic miracle, but his servants persuaded him to obey. After dipping seven times, he was completely healed, and his skin became like that of a child. Grateful, Naaman returned to Elisha, confessed that the God of Israel was the only true God, and offered gifts, which Elisha refused. However, Elisha's servant Gehazi, driven by greed, secretly went after Naaman and lied to obtain some of the silver and clothing. When Gehazi returned, Elisha confronted him, knowing what he had done, and declared that Naaman's leprosy would cling to Gehazi and his descendants forever. Gehazi immediately left Elisha's presence covered in leprosy.
Be Humble or Be Humbled Philippians 2 Chew the Bible Season 3Paul encourages the believers in Philippi to live in unity, humility, and love. He urges them to put others before themselves, following the example of Christ, who humbled Himself by leaving His divine glory, taking on human form, and dying on the cross. Because of His obedience, God exalted Him above all, giving Him the name above every name. Paul tells the church to “work out their salvation” with reverence, shining like lights in a dark world. He also commends Timothy and Epaphroditus as faithful servants of Christ who live out this selfless attitude. Key Themes: Unity and humility in Christ Jesus as the ultimate example of obedience and sacrifice God exalting Christ above all Living as shining examples of faith in the worldYour words were found and I ate them

Joram's in the House 2 Kings 3 Chew the Bible Season 3King Joram of Israel, along with King Jehoshaphat of Judah and the king of Edom, joined forces to fight against Mesha, king of Moab. On their journey, they ran out of water and feared defeat. They sought help from the prophet Elisha, who told them to bring a musician. As music played, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Elisha, and he prophesied that God would provide water without rain and give them victory. The next morning, water filled the land, and the Moabites, seeing the reflection, thought it was blood. Believing their enemies had killed each other, they rushed in, only to be ambushed and defeated by Israel and its allies.Your words were found and I ate them
Paul in Prison Philippians 1 Chew the Bible Season 3Paul writes to the believers in Philippi from prison. He thanks God for them, prays for their love and knowledge to grow, and encourages them to remain steadfast in Christ. Paul explains that his imprisonment has actually helped spread the gospel, as others are now more bold in preaching. Some preach Christ out of envy, others out of goodwill—but Paul rejoices that Christ is proclaimed regardless. He expresses confidence that through their prayers and the Spirit of Christ, he will be delivered, whether by life or death. For Paul, “to live is Christ and to die is gain.” He longs to be with Christ but chooses to remain for the sake of the believers' growth. He urges them to stand firm, united, and unafraid of opposition.Your words were found and I ate them

The first two groups are consumed by fire from heaven when they arrogantly demand Elijah come down. The third group's captain humbly begs for mercy, and God spares them.Elijah goes to Ahaziah and repeats the prophecy: because he turned to Baal-Zebub instead of the God of Israel, he will not leave his bed. Scattered Sheep 1 Kings 22 Chew the Bible Season 3In 1 Kings 22, King Ahab of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah consider going to war against Aram (Syria) at Ramoth-Gilead. Jehoshaphat insists on seeking the word of the Lord first. Ahab's prophets all predict victory, but Jehoshaphat asks if there's another prophet of the Lord. Ahab reluctantly calls for Micaiah, who truthfully prophesies disaster: Israel will be scattered like sheep without a shepherd, and Ahab will die in battle. Despite this, Ahab ignores the warning, disguises himself, and goes to war. A random arrow fatally wounds him, fulfilling Micaiah's prophecy. Jehoshaphat survives, and the chapter ends with a shift to Jehoshaphat's reign in Judah and Ahaziah's in Israel.Your words were found and I ate them

Like Father, Like Son 1 Kings 15 Chew the Bible Season 31 Kings 15 recounts the reigns of Abijam (Abijah) and Asa, kings of Judah, and briefly covers the kings of Israel during their times. Abijam ruled Judah for 3 years. He continued in the sins of his father Rehoboam and did not follow God wholeheartedly. But for the sake of David, God allowed Abijam's line to continue. There was constant war between Judah and Israel during his reign. Asa, Abijam's son, ruled Judah for 41 years and did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, unlike many kings before him. He removed idols, expelled male shrine prostitutes, and even removed his grandmother Maacah from being queen because she had made an obscene Asherah pole. However, he didn't remove all the high places. Asa also fought with Baasha, king of Israel. Baasha tried to block Judah, so Asa made an alliance with Ben-Hadad, king of Aram (Syria), by sending him treasures from the temple and palace. Ben-Hadad attacked Israel's cities, forcing Baasha to retreat. Meanwhile, in Israel, Nadab, the son of Jeroboam, ruled for 2 years but continued in his father's evil ways. He was assassinated by Baasha, who wiped out Jeroboam's entire family, just as the Lord had prophesied through Ahijah because of Jeroboam's sins.⸻Your words were found and I ate them
Sick Son & Sodomy 1 Kings 14 Chew the Bible Season 3In 1 Kings 14, Jeroboam's son, Abijah, becomes very sick. Jeroboam tells his wife to disguise herself and go to the prophet Ahijah in Shiloh, who had once told Jeroboam he'd become king. But Ahijah, now old and blind, is warned by God in advance of her arrival. When she comes, he recognizes her and delivers a devastating prophecy: • Abijah will die as soon as she returns home. • He will be the only one in Jeroboam's family to receive a proper burial, because he's the only one in whom God saw something good. • God will wipe out Jeroboam's lineage for leading Israel into idolatry. • Israel itself will suffer and be uprooted because of their sins.Abijah dies just as Ahijah said, and all Israel mourns.Meanwhile, in Judah, King Rehoboam (Solomon's son) reigns but also leads the nation into idolatry. Egypt's king Shishak attacks Jerusalem, stealing treasures from the temple and royal palace. Rehoboam rules for 17 years, but his reign is marked by constant conflict with Jeroboam.Your words were found and I ate them
North vs. South 1 Kings 12 Chew the Bible Season 3After Solomon dies, his son Rehoboam becomes king. The people of Israel, led by Jeroboam, ask Rehoboam to lighten the heavy burden his father placed on them. Rehoboam consults two groups for advice: The elders say, “Be kind and serve the people—they will be loyal.” His young friends say, “Be tougher than your dad!”Rehoboam follows the bad advice, saying he'll be harsher than Solomon. The people rebel, and ten tribes break away, crowning Jeroboam as king of Israel (the north). Only Judah stays loyal to Rehoboam in the south.Jeroboam, afraid people will return to Rehoboam if they worship in Jerusalem, makes two golden calves and sets up false worship in Bethel and Dan. This becomes a major sin for Israel.Your words were found and I ate them
Solomon's Navy ⚓️ 1 Kings 9 Chew the Bible Season 3Summary of 1 Kings 9 After Solomon finished building the Temple and his royal palace, God appeared to him a second time. The Lord reminded Solomon that He had heard his prayer and chosen the Temple as a sacred place. God promised to bless Solomon's reign and keep his royal line going if Solomon remained faithful like his father David. However, God also gave a warning: if Solomon or his descendants turned away from Him and worshiped other gods, Israel would be cut off from the land, and the Temple would become a ruin and a shame among the nations. The chapter then describes Solomon's dealings with King Hiram of Tyre, who helped supply materials for the building projects. Solomon gave Hiram 20 cities in Galilee, but Hiram was disappointed with them and called them “Cabul,” meaning “worthless.”Solomon also used forced labor for his building projects and expanded his kingdom's infrastructure, including cities, storage areas, and military outposts.____________________________Your words were found and I ate them
