WCNC Charlotte obtained pictures from Labor Day weekend when cars parked at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport employee parking lots were broken into. Shane Vaughn, chairman for Allied Pilots Association in Charlotte representing 2,000 American Airlines pilots, said the organization received reports of about a dozen break-ins. The parking areas for flight crews are right before you get to the terminal. "The last thing anybody needs, whether it's an employee or a passenger, is to go on a trip and then worry about their vehicle, whether it's going to be broken into or, even there," Vaughn said. A holographic construct from narratives past is stolen. Is there a better sci-fi sentence than that. This week we talk through AI, historical narrative and the Cage of Gold.
[SPOILERS for all of "Picard" and SNW S.1 in this week's blog talk at the end] Everything's a bit familiar this week on "Voyager". First up: a heavy dose of "The Time Trap" and "Night" with a dash of "The Trouble With Tribbles" and "Concerning Flight" brings us "The Void", where Janeway has to introduce the concept of cooperation to some people who've forgotten it. After that, "The Killing Game" and "Fair Haven" get together and we get "Workforce", which still refuses to let Janeway just get a happy ending with a dude she's into. Also this week: warp core made a mess, evil is going to win, and technically part two of our kids in "Trek" talk but turns into a bit of a Paramount Plus roast. And rightly so, because they are the WORST. In this episode of Displaced in Space, Angelina and Sam discuss "Concerning Flight" Season 4, episode 11 of Star Trek: Voyager! This week was taken over by Leonardo da Vinci. He had a story arc that Harry Kim would kill for. Captain Janeway gets tons of screen time, yet we learn nothing about her as we delve into da Vinci's angst. Tuvok was also there.

Shopping can be dangerous in space. You never know if you'll wind up with a lobotomy or having to overpay for your own, stolen merchandise. First up, in "Random Thoughts", B'elanna's temper puts her at odds with the strict morals of a telepathic alien race with boundary issues. After that, a lot of important things get stolen in "Concerning Flight" including, apparently, any sense of a good story. Also this week: suggestive produce, a bad plane, and Klingon ships! Note: spoilers for "Lower Decks" season 2 after the closing theme! Honestly, this episode is a mess. Sorry, Meredith. 'Concerning flight? More like concerning internet speeds!' That's right, Meredith, we recorded the old-fashioned way again - with a phone call! Will Sam's internet ever work again? Will Janeway ever get to relax for five seconds? Will we ever start talking about this episode?! We recorded this on Kat's birthday and honestly? Were either of us in the right headspace for this? Nope! Maybe start around 27 minutes in if you want to opt out of the most intensive nonsense...but you won't be safe!!

You will believe a hologram can fly! When Voyager gets tele-ransacked by the owner of an interplanetary chop shop, Janeway must join forces with Leonardo Da Vinci to rescue a computer from an oil refinery and, well, it all makes a little more sense when you actually watch it. Will the unlikely duo take to the skies, or will this episode crash and burn? Is “Concerning Flight” GOOD... or is it GARBAGE?
Leonardo DaVinci is awesome, even in the future.
Buckle up and prepare to fly into the danger zone this week! Somehow, some way your podcast heroes managed to talk about "Concerning Flight" - an episode about Captian Janeway risking the ship to enjoy some LARP fantasy time with Gimli, Son of Gloin - for an hour. We deserve a medal for this. We are the best and you don't appreciate us enough.

Dan Moren, podcaster and novelist, joins Scott to discuss VOY’s “Concerning Flight” (S4E11). Topics include why you should buy Dan’s latest book, how Leonardo DiCaprio is not in this episode, and the surprising lack of tension or stakes in the story. Did we mention that you should buy Dan’s book? Because you should. Host Scott McNulty with Dan Moren.

The Music of Star Trek: Voyager. The music for the later Star Trek series has been described by some as 'wallpaper' music, or music that is just there as filler, without substance. While it may be challenging to come up with new music after having scored 183 episodes (Jay Chattaway) or 256 episodes (Dennis McCarthy), there were still plenty of opportunities for the composers to stretch their legs and compose some truly brilliant music, even in the third Star Trek spin off series. In this episode of Melodic Treks, host Brandon-Shea Mutala takes a look at the new 4-Disc Star Trek: Voyager soundtrack release from La La Land Records. He focuses on the music from the episodes that truly had a shining score which were composed by three different composers. Leonardo Da Vinci may be a great inventor, but there is nothing at all inventive about this Trek episode! Join Neumann, Beth, and Dan as they discuss "Concerning Flight", which is the 11th episode of Season 4 of Star Trek Voyager. Does Janeway have a crush on the holographic Leo? Why is Tuvok so horrible at basic conversation? And why did this episode even have to happen in the first place?! Listen to discover the answers to these questions and much, much more! Also a BIG thanks to Gramatik who was gracious enough to let us use excerpts from his song "Break Loose" from his 2011 album "Beatz & Pieces Vol. 1". You can find more of his awesome music here: @gramatik
