Our engineer/editor Mia Marchant (Cynical Cartoons) joins us as a guest this week to talk about her recent experience coming out as a trans woman. Mia opens up to us about the process of coming into her own authenticity, the scared feeling in anticipation of how certain family and friends would react, and the differences she encountered between her expectations and the reality of the entire experience. She also talks about how difficult this process would have been in her intolerant home town in comparison to here in L.A. and her take on the emotional intelligence of children in making gender identity based decisions. Great episode… couldn’t be happier to have Mia onboard here.

Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 85 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast! This week, Tracy and Robbie are joined by Mia Marchant (Cynical Cartoons podcast) to discuss the 2010 Zack Synder directed film, Legend of the Guardians - The Owls of Ga'Hoole. This strikingly animated and strange film follows a band of young owls who rise up against the unambiguously fascist-inspired Tyto owls, known as the Pure Ones. (Okay guys, we get it - subtlety isn't your forte!) Listen in as they discuss why naming your child Kludd will make them resent/hate/murder you, Zack's Synderisms and how every owl apparently has at least an associate's degree in metal working. It's a point of contention that Tracy cannot get past. So do they hit it with their faces? Do they have baby-sized hammers? How did they learn to emboss metal?! We hope you enjoy this episode and thank you for listening! Please subscribe to us on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, Podbean or anywhere you get your podcasts. Happy holidays everyone! This week, Robbie and Tracy are joined by special guest, Tyler Marchant (Futurehorsepod, Soundtrash, Tynami) to review the Matt Groening-produced 1999 TV special, Olive the Other Reindeer. Based on the children's book of the same name, it's a surreal slice of that weird CGI cut-out animation that was vaguely popular in the late 90s/early 2000s. Featuring the voices of Drew Barrymore, Joe Pantaliano (Joey Pants), Jay Mohr, Chicago hometown hero Tim Meadows and Dan Castellaneta as a maniacal mail-man. What starts as a lively discussion about the movie quickly devolves into an absurdly silly dinner-table argument caught on tape between Tyler, Tracy and Robbie. In a phrase, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year. :) Hope you like this episode! Please rate/subscribe and let us know what you'd like to hear next! Hey guys! Sorry we've been gone so long! We're trying to get back on track, we promise! As you've likely noticed, we're on a new site! We're going to try slowly migrating everything over from the old site to this one, but it'll be slow-going. But enough about that. This episode we are joined by our friend Tyler from Cynical Cartoons podcast. We talk about the movie "Help! I'm a Fish!", a 2001 Danish-German-Irish animated film. This unusual movie features of the voices of Aaron Paul and Alan Rickman and follows the journey of three children who have been turned into sea creatures. It's a strange movie, but we had a lot of fun with this episode! Enjoy!
